Utopia - The Perfect World 

A Utopia could never exist. Utopia comes from the Greek- οὐ ("not") and τόπος ("place") and means "no place" The English homophone eutopia, derived from the Greek εὖ ("good" or "well") and τόπος ("place"), means "good place". A Utopia is a perfect place, a perfect society, a perfect world. But it's also "no place". It is no where to be found. By anyone. Ever.

We create our own utopia, we can create our utopia by being happy and being satisfied with ourselves and work hard.

Not drugs, I'm talking about safe & healthy computer generated emotions. Also how do you define real/false happiness? happiness is merely sensations, it doesn't matter what scenario one is in, it's the same thing internally.

I think perfection is unattainable, for that reason we must thrive to make the world a better place. always. and it has to be the best place it can be, since we know for sure it is impossible for it to ever be perfect.

The world today is going nowhere but Utopia. For the past 500 years, many inventions and innovations have been achieved by humankind, new forms of government have been tested, laws have been strengthened and cities built. And in the next 500 years, all the roads will go down to UTOPIA.

There's no such thing as a Utopia, but convincing yourself that we can't achieve better is a myth. We can.

I say we are in a utopia. A perfect world is balanced, there is good and evil. That is what we have. You say there is people starving that need help, well, that's natural selection at work. For example, there is always that one person you really hate, and you want them to be gone. Then, when they are gone, you feel something is missing from our lives. What's a Government's role in a society having & maintaining order, harmony & stability? How can a society achieve utopia or "near" utopia when it's unatural for people to be thankful, content & satisfied with themselves, & what they do or don't have, & share life with one another? How do politics, sociology, economics & the human psychy factor in whether or not a society can function in a harmonious state? Why does it seem like the concept of currency sets up a society to be ravished by greed?

Utopia has NEVER meant "perfect." This is a common misunderstanding. More wrote Utopia as a satire and social critique that was never posited as actually achievable (linguistic satire makes that clear). But when reading Utopia one clearly sees it is meant as an IDEAL place, but not perfect. It has criminals and a penal system; it has a military; etc... It has many things that moot "perfect" as a viable description of Utopia. Utopia is about "ideal" conditions, not "perfect" conditions.

Utopian freedom is very restricted; discussing politics outside of the senate is a capital punishment.. apart from the liberty issue, Utopia is quite adorable.

But the question is, would the good times be so good if you had good times all the time?

Utopia would be composed of mixed race, class, and intelligence orders of people and being, a variety of plants (not uniform)and a good balance of wind, fire,earth, and water.

most of that was sarcastic, but, there is no cure for emotions for those who -have them, but many do not have much emotions and therefore are never cured, but they do dislike and avoid people who have emotions.

Perfect world would not need religion, however wether it needs money or not its up to you....

for me, utopia is an island where no one is mean or hurts you in any way, where you can either make everyone dissapear, or just be with that special person you love. At day you laugh with that special person, swim in the river, at evening you sit/nap under a tree, hearing the most melodic tune, embracing the one you love, and at night you just take a shower and it calmly and peacefully around a campfire, cozy. Where you feel that "warm glow"...

The only way to achieve such a society is to take money of of the context, greed for limey is the sole reason inequality exists, our purpose should be to free our minds and constantly innovate for the sake of achieving the prefect world and even when the world is perfect we should strive to achieve more perfectness, I wish people used their skills for the greater good rather than profit

If you're saying it doesn't matter if it is real or not, than a 'safe' drug would do that same thing as a computer. So what then, we all hook ourselves up to a computer and let it create everything? Who runs the computers then? And how would a utopia be pursued in a time where we were not this technologically advanced? A utopia is not simply happiness, it is a society that works for the greater good. There would still be death, insanity, and other things that trouble human beings.

Yes but that's a superficial utopia, if you want the best earth possible, wouldn't a world were everyone becomes digital consciousness' and are surged with constant digital emotions of positivity, wouldn't that be the best possible world? The maximization of positive feelings. No hypothetical society would bring so much happiness and after all what is good but good feelings? Superficially people might say love, family, exc. but after all love is a good feeling and family brings good feelings.

A Utopia could exist if machines do all the work and all humans on Earth are living in the constant experience of positive computer generated emotions and have their life expanded to as long as possible using age reversal technologies. It sounds un-poetic but it would mean constant positive experiences and since good & bad only exist in the form of positive & negative experiences, Constant positivity is the best possible way to live you're life, therefore that would be perfection and a utopia.

Well the computers could run themselves by 100 years I'm sure. Also it couldn't run in another time, I wasn't suggesting it could. I'm talking about in 100-200 years time this may be possible. Also happiness is the greater good? is it not? if every individual was happy, then isn't that concern for the greater good? Also I think we could have a secure/moral society within 200 years without those troubles, it may take time, but it is possible IMO.

An electric car and a nice house is not utopia. Utopia is where there is no sin, no crime and no pride. In utopia, everyone is happy, humble and united. The society is fair, everyone is nice, friendly generous. People couldn't be happier. I know it's almost impossible to find, but what you've shown us is not utopia.

i really enjoyed reading the books but i think that utopia is simply a prison not a perfect world ...i mean the life in utopia is so boring and its not perfect because even in the religious books u can find that in paradise there are diff levels for people so i dont think that this book is showing us the right idea of justice

What if we were conformed to the moral truth? as in a frame of thinking that could be shown to be most morally justified. Also a utopia may mean using computer generated emotions to offer us constant happiness.

In a Utopia society everything would be perfect, there would be no such thing of good because all of you have is good, the word good and bad f would have no meaning. Without bad we have no good because when something bad happens we come together and help and move forward and help what ever the situation is at hand, when we see homeless we give them money. If you believe in a perfect society (Utopia) then you do not believe in God. The reason why I say this is because people that do believe in God only believe that everything is in God's control and what ever God does is right for us, nothing man made. You really need to think of things past the surface of this subject like the things that come along with this situation, for example what would happen to religion, if it's a perfect world we would all have to believe in one God and that only because if you believe in others it would not be perfect because it would cause war and not everyone would be on the same path. You need to think deeper and not what you want to think, don't think a perfect world, that would be great! You need to think of the stuff after and the outcome.
