Do you plan to publish any of these long multi day routes? Would love to download and ride some of them.
@UTVBoondocker
@UTVBoondocker 3 месяца назад
I've been toying with the idea for a while. Just need to set aside the time to do it. If you have GAIA as a navigation app, you can access them from a web browser but it's quite a bit of work to parse out sections, etc. I do have some plans to publish some routes this year so I'll work to record the routes as I go so that I can share them. Thanks for watching!

Love your the channel! I love when you narrate, Can you send me any discordants where we can drive on any beach of Superior west of Crisp Point? We're heading for a 3 day trip in eastern U.P. this weekend?
@UTVBoondocker
@UTVBoondocker 13 дней назад
Thanks Jason, appreciate you watching! After leaving Crisp Point, you can jump on UP8 trail and follow it west, there are lots of kicker trails that lead to the beach that you can explore. As you've seen, I use Gaia for my GPS and if you have the subscription, turn on forestry roads, snowmobile trails and USFS trails - lots of things will pop up. The rest are on the west side of the two-hearted but you'll have to drop south to cross. I did just find some fun trails heading east out of crisp point toward browns lake - just take that trail west past the parking area at crisp point (can't miss it - it's the sandy area where cars shouldn't go). Browns lake is a fun are but the trails are tight so was for branches in the face. Hope you have a great time and stay tuned for the Keeweenaw trip video - I'm editig that now!

@@UTVBoondocker I use OnX seems pretty good. I did find some kicker trails that looks like it heads to shoreline but not sure if it's a big drop to shoreline or like the trail you guys had when you camped on the beach

@@jasonhenry2636 Best to explore and try it out. That's what we do when we are out and about. I have found some of the best trails are NOT the main trails (i.e UP8, UP9, etc.).

@@UTVBoondocker BTW how many miles on your General? Have you have anything major do wrong? You didn't seem to drive it hard so that's a good to make it last!

@@jasonhenry2636 just under 5k - I use it quite a bit on my property and trails of course. I treat it as good as possible, keep it clean and well maintained - haven't had any major issues so I'm very happy with it. I used to race MX so all my crazy days are complete :)

Good video. Lake Superior is impressive. Didn't realize how flat the UP is. Thank you for not screwing up the video with music.

@UTVBoondocker 8 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback about music. I always try to find ways to improve the videos and it sounds like most like the sounds of nature, the machine and voice over tracks. I'll keep that in mind for the future :)

East and south areas of the UP are sandy and flat. North Central and North West areas have some pretty impressive rocky cliffs and views. It ain't the Rockies but it's pretty rugged.

What are you using for GPS?
@UTVBoondocker
@UTVBoondocker 9 месяцев назад
Hi Marc! Thanks for watching and I use GAIA (gaiagps.com). Specifically, I use it on an Apple iPad tablet that is cellular enabled (but you do not need cell service on it to work). When you have a cellular tablet, it comes with a GPS chip that is always active. You could also use a phone but I like a bigger screen. In some of my other videos, you will find what I use to mount it so let me know if you have questions. It's probably important to note that I bought the premium subscription ($40 a year i believe) that let's me see all of the layers that are available which is REALLY helpful. You just need to download the offline maps before you go so that when you don't have a signal, you can navigate easily. Hope that helps you out!

@@thesavagefam2791 I'm still thinking about creating a video with just routes but that will take some time to parse out the individual routes from the trip. When I get to that, I'll be sure to post a video on some of my favorite rides/routes so stay tuned and thanks for watching!

Great video!! Beautiful place you all went to. Couple questions I live northern Indiana is there a website or could you tell me is there maps I can get or what? I want to plan a trip up there this summer 2024 plus cabins to rent? Any help would be appreciated again great video
@UTVBoondocker
@UTVBoondocker 10 месяцев назад
First, thanks for watching! If you are looking for maps, the Michigan DNR has a site with some maps (www.michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/orv-riding/where). I prefer to use a cellular enabled tablet (no service needed, just the cellular chip) or you can use your phone. The best apps that I've found are GAIA (with the subscription and pre-downloaded maps) or you use Andriod, VW Mapping is another popular choice. I find these are really helpful with navigation. If you are looking to rent cabins, I would suggest VRBO based on where you want to ride. I have several videos on the different areas of the UP to ride.

Hey nice content. Im going to be staying in brimley soon. Have u been to any trails that area?
@UTVBoondocker
@UTVBoondocker 5 месяцев назад
Thanks, appreciate you watching! So I have not taking the trails around that area too much but there are a ton in the area that I've scoped out. I did ride my motorcycle all through that area and I can tell you that you'll want to stop at the Spectacle lake lookout point just northwest of Brimley. There is an great lake overlook and an ancient cemetery - lots of American Indian history in that area. Also something to consider if your carry a sidearm, may want to look into those laws. Anyhow, I hope you have a great time and I'm sure we'll have a ride over in that area at some point. That is one of the very few areas in the UP that I have not ridden in *yet*.
