I've worked for a graphics printing company since 2008. Best advice I can give you is to run that machine every day. Even if it's a test print. Run something. Even the white. Those white print heads can clog. Not sure about the Mimaki white ink, but our white ink has titanium in it that can cause it to clog the print heads if you let it sit. Good luck!
Gosh!! I didn’t realize I had FOMO!! But I do bc I wanted a UV printer but thank you for showing me my small business isn’t ready for this! You put things into perspective that we can understand. I appreciate your insight!
I've gone through so many clear acrylic sheets checking the print-heads before each job. The UV printer is a maintenance nightmare but I felt like my background as a printer and copier technician would be a great benefit. I'm just a small craft shop that does laser and UV printing for craft/farmers markets.
Yea that's definitely why I wanted to help give as clear a picture as possible before people get FOMO for something that may not be the best fit for their needs. Once you get the maintenance down it's really easy and simple. I hope you're not running into those issues anymore.
Just bought one about a week ago - looking forward to getting it up and running! Not a Mimaki (so jealous!) but one I could afford so that I could dip my toes in to see if it will complement my business.
@@susan_halla thank you for watching. They are so much fun! Don’t slack on taking care of your new toy and I look forward to hearing about what you do with it! 😃
Not all printers in the same class as the Mimaki UJF have to be cleaned "every other day. every 2 days max". I have a Roland VersaObject MO-240 and it only needs to be cleaned weekly. If you choose to go with the white ink option, then they recommend the white ink cartridges be "shaken" every 2 days. I've gone 2 weeks without touching it without an issue. I come from the wide format printing side of the business for almost 20 years...Overall, fantastic video!
This is great feedback. Thank you for sharing. I received the printer right during the middle of summer with lts of momming and travel. It's possible I didn't put enough maintenance fluid before I left or didn't shake the whites enough in between. I will try that next time I'm away for more than 2-3 days but overall I've found I love my printer more when I don't let her sit for too long, ha. Thank you for sharing!
@@ThatMomWithALaser I've left my Mimaki 6042 for a week unattended several times. It doesn't thing automatically. I just make sure that my waste ink tank is empty before I take off, and give my white ink a shake. 6 years so far. Knock on wood.
