I don't care if the cops were scared, IT'S THEIR JOB! Teacher's job is to educate children not to take bullets or gun training. There is no excuse. "every school should have a cop, etc," who will pay for that? People will complain because their taxes will go up. These are not solutions. Police should have went in and apparently after Columbine, cops are required to go in. So sad. I don't think any of us have a right to give excuses for police, since our children our home safe.

The funny thing, some people (minorities, poor and working class, disabled, and seniors) committ a crime and are locked away from society for years. What about this situation, the man is part of government, let him slide, right, forget the dead children and dead teachers, because of miscommunication......I did not have the correct information. No matter what nothing will bring those children back and teachers to life on earth. Unfortunately failure to act, one stand-up man or woman could have saved them.

Simple question here.... If they had all the equipment and training to deal with this type of situation, What was the guidelines of that training, and were the guidelines followed? If they followed the training and guidelines from the training, then the chief did was was the SOP, but if he gave instructions contrary to their training, then he effed up and needs to face the consequences.

The cops so often think that other cops should cover for them no matter how much they fail, so the attempts to cover up everything they can continue.

Important: @ 12:03, female student called 911, and stated to the dispatcher that she was in room 112, and the shooter was shooting at them. The student at this time gave the location of the shooter. (ARMED OFFICERS SHOULD HAVE MOVED IN TOWARDS THE SIDES OF THE OUTDOOR WINDOWS) NOTE: During this entire time everyone in the room were on the floor, or under the table. The shooter would have been the only one standing, shooting or walking back and forth to both adjacent classrooms. @ 12:16, 13 minutes later, the student called and stated there were 8 to 9 students alive. During this time, anyone of those armed officers could have taken a shot at the shooter through the side windows. That school has so many windows. How could they not have visual and a clear shot at the shooter from the outside of the building? During shooting drills at the beginning of the school year, teachers and students are taught to lock and barricade the door, gather in the fathest corner of the room, away from the windows and door. Students are also told to remain quiet and seated on the floor.

Law enforcement are trained to never put themselves at risk, consequently they only act against people who are no real threat to them.

If, based on training, the standing order is to move forward to neutralize active shooter until in custody or dead, then, no one has the authority to change the mission. Giving an order to wait is dereliction of duty.

They knew that one of them needed to get to the door and look in the window, and preferably the windows to both classrooms at the same time - the shooter could not have been covering both doors. But that required balls, which apparently was in short supply in Uvalde. Decades of Texas pride and strength exposed as bravado. It was time to ‘cowboy up’ and they chose to ‘hold position and wait’

The biggest failure is the society we now live in. Didnt exist 40 years ago.

Why is it that as an Army soldier in a warzone we have stricter codes of conduct than these police officers? As an NCO I, and others, could’ve been charged had we made the wrong decision or made no decision. How is it that as an Army soldier we could be charged and imprisoned for making, or refusing to make, choices in a warzone, where it’s all a blur and the fog of war is thick and decisions are made in milliseconds, but not these police officers? Why has no one been arrested? Why has no one been brought in and held accountable? If you’re being investigated, as a civilian, and you refuse to cooperate you can get a warrant for your arrest. You can be cuffed and taken in to be interrogated but not a police officer? Should not the police be held to a higher standard than the people? In the military the NCO is the backbone and we are charged with setting the example. If a lower enlisted breaks a rule they are punished less than if an NCO breaks the rule. This is because the NCO, the one enforcing the rule, should be held to a higher standard. So why aren’t the police held to a higher standard? Where are the obstruction of justice charges? Where is the accountability? Why are there not protest outside of this police chiefs home?! Why are we all not talking about the police misconduct and their failure to do their jobs?! They were quick to taze, pepper spray, and arrest unarmed and distraught parents but as soon as they encountered someone who was an actual danger all of a sudden that aggression goes out the window. These officers should be held accountable. In the aftermath of World War 2 the entire world decided the excuse “I was just following orders.” was not good enough. Collectively we all said “No. That is unacceptable.” and this was in regards to German soldiers who could have been shot for disobeying their orders. But apparently for police officers, who if they had disobeyed orders would’ve (at worse) been subject to suspension, they are allowed to make this excuse. It wasn’t okay for the Nazis to make this excuse, it’s not okay for an Army soldier to make this excuse, and it should never be okay for a Police Officer (of all people) to make this excuse. Their excuses are not good enough. Not at all. Unacceptable. Cowardly. Disgusting. Criminal. These cops are criminal. They are practically complicit in the murders and should be charged with murder. The police chief, that disgusting coward, most of all. How is it that the cops are all about breaking your door down in the middle of the night while you are sleeping to arrest you for a warrant but as soon as an active shooter locks himself in a room with children they suddenly think they have all the time in the world to sit and wait? These officers are a disgrace. They dishonored and betrayed the community that believed and supported them. They dishonored and disgraced their profession. We got the name of the officer who was responsible for the death of George Floyd practically in an hour why is it that its been days and I know more about the rifle used than anything about any of the officers present for this tragedy. America deserve names. America deserve badge numbers. America deserves to know who all of the Officers were that thought it was perfectly okay to stand by for over an hour while children lost live basically right in front of them. If I learned anything about this it’s that apparently a Cops greatest enemy in this day and age is a classroom door and following their training guidelines.

We have the benefit of hindsight here. If there were cops near the shooter's position and they heard active gun fire, they should have pushed and took the shooter out. The leaders have delayed info to base their decisions on. Wrong call for sure to stand down but the cops should know to take out an active shooter.. poor kids I feel for the families
