Honestly speaking there are many channels teaching about using tools, i would really want to learn about UX in depth and also some really important things like how to give your designs to developer + how to present a case study nicely with good visuals and graphics, mockups. I love your work we have even talked once on insta,i'm glad you've started teaching too.
Thanks Spata for clearing this out. A lot of people still are not aware of the differences and similarities between these titles. Love your channel and work. And yeah that negotiating video might be a good option.
Thanks a lot Nilay! :) Yeah, the confusion is for real. The worse is, many people actually think that one title is inferior to the other. I hope this clarifies some of the confusion :)
Your analogy made things very clear and easy to understand even for someone who is not into design. Would love to watch a video on how to negotiate with employer to receive right compensation.
I thoroughly enjoyed our video contact, and it was truly amazing. However, what impressed me the most was your exceptional speaking skills. Your ability to articulate thoughts and communicate effectively left a lasting impression on me.
That's a great start to your RU-vid Journey. A well explained video about confusing titles in Design. I have had tough time explaining various roles, responsibilities and UX Terminologies to others in past. Would love to see more such informative videos here.
Well Explained! 👌👍 Lot of design aspirants has this dilemma, now all can have better understanding and perspective of the career path they are seeking... Happy Design! 👨🏻🎨
Very well explained. Thanks. I would like to see a video on Design education. There's lot of confusion around this topic whether we need a degree or not to become a UX Designer.
I am a graphic designer with agency background looking to jump into product design.. A video or series for starters in product design would be a great help! Looking forward to more good stuff
Thank you, Tanvi! Analogies had always been my way of learning and teaching new things. I thought of trying the same here :) I hope you found it useful.
Congrats on beginning your RU-vid journey! Would love a video around strategies & case studies for selling your design decisions (aka getting stakeholder buy-in) to other folks like Engineering leads, Product managers, etc. Maybe a video for startups with very small design teams.
Super Clarifying Video. I see many job portals where in we have to add skills - I see it's written as UI/UX Designer, Product Designer or Product Managment but really couldn't get the actual differences. Also, me being a software developer, a recent grad as well - UI/UX is something which is not included or taught in colleges as such as programming. It's when someone enters the industry and then develops interest in it when work gets alloted. I need you to make a video that I can share it with my college juniors, so they even pickup Design as a Career and not every IT Engineer has to become a Programmer
This video has all the info i needed, i always thought about product design as more or less similar to UX design. Thanks Saptarshi fro sharing the nuances of the titles with the community. Subbed and Liked The video already.
great insights about product designer vs ux designer. it is really helpful. would be more helpful, if you show differences, approaches with real case study :)
Great video man! Appreciate the setup and production quality, and this cleared up a bunch of questions I had. Always inspiring to see insti alums thulping :D
Wow this video is really amazing. I'm a product design student and people always ask me the difference between both. I'm gonna share this video with them 😌
I am so glad that you started this! Thank you! After college I started working as a UX designer at a SAAS company and it has been almost an year now. I was wondering if there is a way of objectively gauging one's improvements in this field.
One tried and tested way is to compare your self with your past. Have you been doing better work than what you used to do a year back? Are you satisfied with that much of improvement? This should answer your questions.
Nice video Sapta! Please make a video on how to negotiate well. For both the cases, when we are switching companies and when we are in the appraisal meetings.
Hi Sapta! The video is pretty good. Congrats on the channel launch. 🎉 The video could have been made much more fun by adding few witty memes. For the next video, you can probably make something on how Product Designers make tradeoffs keeping in mind the various contexts behind the scenes. Keep creating! 🔥
Hey Sapta! Thanks for explaining the basic difference between the roles. Can I request you to explain more in deep about Product designing? What more additional skills you need to require to focus on if you're a UX/UI designer. Do you need the capabilities to study data like "CRO"? You talked about "Tradeoffs", should you also need to know about data analysis to understand the user behavior with the product? I know a lot of questions you kinda seemed approachable, so just banking on the chance.
Hey Nishita, As mentioned in the video, the practically mean the same. Sure, I can discuss deeper about other aspects as well. Keep check this space :)
Would love to video Ux desgin approach in detail.. Since it's different for everyone. Thankx, this video helped alot .. Great work Sir. Waiting for the next one.
For me, a Product designer is still a person who designs physical products. They have skills like 3D modeling, CMF design, form design. They are ones who are usually brilliant in sketching products. Yes, some people choose to call them industrial designers but almost every big institute that teaches "Product design" teaches physical product design. Great video btw... cleared my confusion
Thank you so much for an amazing video! Felt like i was watching a movie with a great storyline instead of gathering information !! Loved the experience 😄 Btw, can i request a video for aspiring UX designers for people who r in high school and the path we'll have to take to be one in India. It'll be really helpful. Thank you so much again. 😄
@@saptarshipr That's great! I'm looking forward to it! Also a tiny suggestion can you include a video about becoming a UX designer by going to design school Vs self taught designers.
Well explained. Loved the production quality of the whole video as well. ♥ One suggestion for a future video from my end would be on the how much do designers earn on an average in India. Cheers.
Hi Sapta! Great video! Can you also make a video where you talk about the pros and cons of the industry (more focussed on UX design) per se, you know like the challenges/exciting things you experienced as a designer in your career. If someone wants to make a career shift to UX design what are the things to look out for as caveats/be excited about? It'll be really helpful for people on the fringe like me! :)
Noted :) I guess you are suggesting two thing here. 1. Getting into this profession, things you need to do and know 2. Coping up with the industry. I certainly have plans for the first one. Stay tuned :)
I really fear the compensation part, especially when companies ask me how much compensation are you expecting I just hit a bummer because I am unsure what to answer.
Hey! Would love to watch your next video on negotiation skills and how can we make HR or other managers understand about what all we actually do instead of just designing. Thanks
That would be great! 😁 even am a self taught designer and want to pursue the design degree and in light of this your brother's article was really insightful and wonderful!
There's so much ambiguity in titles which ultimately hurts both employer and employee not to mention team moral. I concur with your definitions here Sapta. One question I would submit is... in your experiences and definitions, do you see cultures needing and benefiting from having both a Product Owner and Product Designer on the same team? There's quite a bit of overlap as well as subtle differences. I think this video over-viewing the differences between UX and Product Design is good... perhaps you'll consider offering your opinion for Product Owner vs Product Designer in the future. Thank you.
Of course.. Although there is a lot of overlap but these two roles have their own functions as well. A Product Owner is nothing but another name for a Product Manager.
Hi Sapta, Great video, Would love to see a video on how to present your portfolio or how would you approach to a question when someone says walk us to your portfolio or particular project.
Great Video..Hence clearly understood the difference between UX and Product Design ......Also could you make a video on negotiating our Compensation..!!
Thank you, Rahul :) Just starting up with this. I am making the videos for my audience so interacting with everyone is the best way to know what they want to see :)
This video is very helpful video. Thank you so much sir! Just one thing I want to ask.. I'm a pharmacy student and a graphic designer, how can I evolve myself as a product designer and how product designing can be beneficial in pharmacy profession?
Thank you, Trishank! :) Well, I do not know pharmacy profession as much that I can tell you if and how Product designing can be made beneficial. I personally believe that design is a way of life and not just a profession.
Tell about your journey... Like from starting to the end... How you get into this filed, about your portfolio, about your first interview... Like how it all happened.. It will be really helpful to know successful people paths it will give as a figure to follow please 🙏
Thanks for the suggestion! :) I will surely do that but I think I should wait for a while till people start knowing me more. Only then, they might be really interested to know my life and journey :D
Hi, @saptarshi Really a help for me to find out and looking Wayback of my work and I have done... Can you please tell me about how we can succeed or prepare for UX or product designer interview..?
Hey Vivek.. I have video where I have spoken about Salary Negotiations. You can check that out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cV2FHNv6uGU.html of course, this doesn't cover everything about interviews, but it covers some parts for sure.
Hey Sapta what a video. Great thoughts and knowledge shared buddy. Just wanted to convey my 2 cents. So as you mentioned UX designer normally only take care of User Experience part where they look at other expect of user experience where in Product Designers also do somewhat the same but also look at the revenue and tech side and so on. But dont you think as UX designer its his duty.. So for example we have to make app for food delivery . So the first thing as UX designer his role involve is understanding the market and need of it. As the example you gave of king. If there is no one to rule there is no king. And also the other expect like revenue, experience and so on. so I would say some where the UX designer and Product designer is same it depends upon the company size. Where in some companies as UX designer you are only looking at user experience and you come in to the picture after research team who understand the needs of the market and then decide on what to work. In some company as UX/Product Designer you might be doing everything.
Please make a Video on how designers who are still freshers can make the best out of this COVID 19 situation..... What kind of WFH internships they should take....how to handle the situation if someone gives them assignments before even selecting them first... These are real UX problems that freshers are facing currently. Thanks 😊
@@saptarshiprYou didn't discuss about coding section.... How much is the relevance of coding for anyone who's interested in becoming a product designer?
I hope you find this comment well. I'm a little concerned about what I should choose between Product Design and User Experience. I know I'm interested in PD but somebody keeps telling me I must go through UX which is I'm not interested. Right now, I'm going to the second year in Symbiosis Institute Of Design. I couldn't tell which one is better for me.
Hey Rohan, As the video suggests, both are one and same. While the real meaning of the terms may sound different, the work that you get to do will likely be same, if you join a product company as a designer.
I think what he means to say, and I might be wrong, and this is what I'm facing currently too. I want to make a career switch from engineering to design, which I discovered while taking a drop after graduation. I was really interested in physical products but someone suggested to take the path of UX. I'm kinda confused now
Omg damn you look too handsome ... I came to know about the UX and Product designer but after seeing ur face forget 😅 i lost myself without listening the things ur saying and im admiring ur face and reactions 🙈🤩😇🤫
Amazing video @Saptarshi please what advice will you give to me, in terms of which should I learn first UX Designer or Product Designer? apparently, they sound almost the same though
Hi Sapta, Great video. Just curious of the word 'Tech constraints' you mentioned in the video. As a product designer what sort of tech constrains should we be aware of? Is it more about developers not able to replicate our vision or more on the terms of the infrastructure available for a company?
