Uxmal, ancient Maya City, is located 62 km south of Mérida, capital of Yucatán state in Mexico. Its buildings are noted for their size and decoration. Ancient roads called sacbes connect the buildings, and also were built to other cities in the area such as Chichén Itzá in modern-day Mexico, Caracol and Xunantunich in modern-day Belize, and Tikal in modern-day Guatemala.

Hermosa ciudad Maya, los detalles ornamentales en los palacios, son de gran calidad artística. Para mi gusto, es un sitio más bonito e interesante que Chichén Itzá.

The finest of the Maya ruins of Quintana Roo. Discovered by John Stephens as he toured through Central America as the American ambassador. in 1841 he published “Incidents of Travel in Central America , Chiapas and Yucatán” with the sketches of Frederick Catherwood. Working in Central America for an oil company in the early 1920s, Danish archaeologist Franz Blom s discoveries in the jungles of the Yucatán enlarged their Maya and Olmec knowledge. As he carried out a series of explorations, he established the Tulane Middle American Institute.

Most national parks and preserved/reserved monuments areas allow drones, as far as I have seen. How was your experience two years ago?

@@markuse3472 off course not, operating drone is strickly forbiden on ruins site. ANd trust me, guardians are checking it and make sure you delete your picture on your phone if they catch you up (yes i had to do that). Moreover, operating drone is only allowed for mexican people, not strangers

Mayans has been definitely influenced by Indian civilization. Maya itself is a Sanskrit word..the structure of towers and entrance to temple, corridors all point to old temple architecture of India..

There are many words in one language that is written and/or pronounced the same way in another(s) but with a totally different meaning, it doesn't really mean there is a tight connection between them. And the architecture, while similar, it doesn't mean a house built today in the USA has the same builders of a house in any where in the world just because they look similar. Peoples imagination and creativity are many times very akin from one "corner of the Earth to the other." Use your brain.

@markuse3472 There's also the fact that the Maya never called themselves that but instead each had their own name for separate groups like K'iche', Yucatan, etc. The name Maya comes from 'Mayapan' which was a capital city. I don't know why people still think there's a connection with India when that's just not true at all.
