Yeah, you bet. But the XM series is catered for acoustic and vocals, seems like low latency and surround sound is not their product’s speciality, this would be the closest it gets to “gaming” IMO 🤣

Forget gaming. We can't even have decent Teams calls or even phone calls cos of the crappy mic quality and it doesn't seem like Sony fixed it with the XM5.

How does it deal with surrounding noise? For example your co-workers having another online meetings, does their voice not get in to the mic?

Yoo Dani, sorry for the late reply. So far it is pretty good. The mic being close to your mouth doesn't pick up too much noise from your surrounding! That's the good thing about Headset Mic. You can also adjust online meeting app (Zoom/Google Meet - to have noice cancelling, lower overall volume) if you require.

The mute-switch on mine stopped working after 1 year of use 👎, which is too bad as I love having the mute switch / microphone kill-switch, and the mic quality is very good. Hopefully V-Moda can fix this in future products.

@@kendidshoots yeah I am of two minds, it broke after ~a year (just the mute switch) but it is also not that expensive for a great performing product? I would rather they charge like $5 more and make it more robust, so it would mean less e-waste.

I had this mic and used it everyday for many years, had 2 of them but they both developed strange issues over time even with great care. In one of them if you turn the volume up too high it cuts out the audio. So you don't get full volume. And if you use the in line mute function it will cause your mic your mic to mute but it will now let everyone on Discord hear what you're playing or listening to on your desktop. It's really lame honestly. Guess I might get another but it's not been that great honestly. Mic quality was it's best aspect.

This is basically Sony's answer to hyper cloud mix headset. You can also control the volume too of the game.

Oh yeah... exellent purchase in my opinion, etending the use of this heatset! Although for gaming, the latency might not be as good as the HyperCloud designed for gaming !

hey man i recently got the v mods boom pro and used it on my xm4s. I use it on xbox but when i used the v mods jack i lose a lot of bass and volume compared to the sony jack. can you explain why please ?

Hey man, just in case. Sony headphones have 2 drivers if I’m not mistaken. During calls it will switch to a lower quality speaker and the voice on that is always crappy. Your experience with losing bass and volume is it using with a call? Or ONLY just playing games?

How is the latency? Is there much/noticeable delay in singleplayer (ex. Elden ring, Hogwarts Legacy,…)/ online FPS shooter (ex. Valorant, Overwatch,…) games?

Heh Andrea, from my testing, latency comes from your pair of headphones to begin with, the WH1000XM3 wasn’t advertised for low latency compared to a gaming headphones, so I would say it’s rather mid plugging in via AUX connection

M3 has a mic right? Why can't we use mic while connecting aux cable? I use both TRS and TRRS aux cable to use the mic of M3 Wont mic signal travel in aux cable in M3?

Yooo, on paper the M3 have bluetooth only Microphones. In which the mic only functions via bluetooth. Note that the aux cable that comes with the M3 are just Left and Right channel signals, no Mic. So even if you have a L/R/Mic cable, it just doesn't work. The M3 was purely designed for bluetooth only. The boom pro adds a microphone itself.

Hey Razvan, particularly for the Sony, the cables they provide is just Left and Right channel 3.5mm audio jack so you can't use the microphone. But with the V-mode boom pro Mic it, include 1 additional "microphone" channel for your mic! It's just a Sony thing, that you can only use the microphone in bluetooth mode. When connected via wires, just playback. Unless this third party accessory

Hey M, so far when you plug in the boom pro mic to your pc, when you use System Mic, it will automatically be selected. From SONY's website, you can turn on your headset for noice cancellation, only when connected in bluetooth it will use it's microphone. Even so, you can always select your mirophone input at any time~

Hey there, you can’t use them wirelessly. The boom pro mic = makes it wired. Also the headsets detects that the auxiliary jack is plugged in so Bluetooth will be disabled. Glad you found it helpful !!

Hey Brian, actually went back to test it out, it's an omni directional mic, both way works the same. I tried talking around the mic, the pick up is the same.

Hye Nguyen, you would need to get a lightning to 3.5mm audio jack with Mic (this is important). Cheaper adapters only provided speakers without the Mic. So be sure to get the correct adapter, it should work fine ! Thanks for stopping by !!

Hey Ingo, I am not too sure about the Phillips X3. But 2 sides seems to be a bit bizarre. The V-Moda 3.5mm jack (L,R,Microphone) for a single slot. Don't think it works to split, unless you have a Left and Right channel combiner to the Boom-Pro, not sure how it will work !

@@kendidshoots it is selected for my headphones. I was able to get it to work twice. But I have to turn off my PC and turn it back on while everything is connected. If I don't do this and connect it after it is on, then I can't get it to work.

@@kendidshoots I am not sure on MacBook you may have to choose in preferences. But on phone it works directly for sure, no configuration etc, the point is it definitely has microphone when you use with the 3.5mm cable. And it sounds much better too (compared to Bluetooth).

Hey Jared, sorry I have never tested on Hyper X Cloud, I'm assuming if its using the 3.5mm Audio jack, you should be able to use it just fine. The V Moda Boom Pro microphone must be used together with the wire connected to a PC, or controller adapters to work. I have not tried it wirelessly only using the V-moda Mic. HAHA

@@jaredtylergamingletsgooo if the mic from the hyper X cloud is detachable, and uses 3.5mm jack. You can use the boom pro mic. I just don’t see how “wireless” comes in the picture when using this “wired” mic to your headphones. Lol Unless you want to use your wireless hyperX for sound , but just plug in and use the “wired” mic

Whenever people show the mic example, I feel like I always hear white noise in the background that is pretty loud. Is that noticeable to the people that hear you usually?

Hey Danny, yes I also noticed the white noise on this OEM model, so far I have asked my friends they can't pick it up. Probably over zoom, google meet, Skype. there is some noise suppression that removed it in the process. I recorded the audio clip using audacity and playing it back, i do notice white noise as mentioned.

@@kendidshoots it’s $35 on both Amazon and VModas own website. I might just grab it off Amazon and see how it works, then if I don’t like it I can request a refund as Amazon is usually really good with that stuff.

Is there voice feedback when you talk into it? I will be using it for Xbox and I don’t wanna be screaming not knowing if I’m talking loud enough lol

Hey danny, normally for headphones with dedicated mics won't have feedback, your gamesound with your voice playback through your speakers, captured by the mic and gets in an endless cycle. XD

@@dannyblue2178 no you won’t be able to hear yourself. Those type of setup require a direct headphone plug into the microphone.

@@kendidshoots oh okay I never knew that. I was gonna be using my Astro mixamp but I’m guessing that doesn’t change anything. I feel like that would be a little aggravating not being able to really hear yourself while having noise canceling. Btw thanks for replying quickly 👍🏼

I think the battery still depletes based on ANC on or off. The Sony XM3 by default when plugged in using the cables gives you unlimited playback time (without ANC of course) and you can’t charge and playback at the same time 😁
