As to Marsya's level of emotion, it's very real. All their songs are about things that hit VERY close to home for them. They aren't just singing a song, they are unleashing the fury of their feelings, normally kept pent up inside because of the restraints involved with the politeness norms of their culture (but on stage they are free to rage).
