The issue is getting to the hangs with enough intensity to actually matter. My fingers give out waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before my shoulders do, so I guess in that case it's all about getting stronger fingers to get to the point where you can do weighted hangs (not necessarily one arm xD) on 20mm

These are isolation exercises anyway, fine to hit your fingers on a board and then shoulder doing something else

if you want to train fingers, train fingers, you can also hit shoulders later. If your shoulders are failing during your finger workout, that is most likely not good finger stimulus, you can hit shoulders in isolation. For one arm work you need strong shoulders anyway

Lifting off the ground rarely replicates anything except a very rare undercut move. A hang works the body like a hard boulder outside would.

hey steven, may i ask, how much weight are you picking up? whats ur max? how much do you pickup for training? whats the relation to your bodyweight? i started a year ago with a bit more than 50% bw and now im at 80% bw. thank you, niklas

I feel as though the shoulder and fingers are more interconnected than is biomechanically apparent, cause on a bar or positive hold my one arm hang feels rock solid, but on flat edges I tend to rotate out, despite the weight going through the shoulder technically being the same

For me the whole less is more really applies. I did max hangs and now I do repeaters cause I think they're benefitting me more at the moment, but I always only do one or two sets of five reps. Max hangs were with added weight but not so with repeaters since I'm still getting used to them. But with less sets I think they're just as effective, and I feel more rested in my next session. Never climb back to back days but usually every other.

3 sets for 3 reps per hand is 9 reps for each hand. 3 reps for each hand is 3 per hand. Confused on what’s what. Haha
