@@dradamfields I guess I'm somewhat qualified to give a professional review. I'm an occupational therapist and also have jaw issues and am undergoing the DNA appliance with Dr. Shapira in HIghland Park, IL. I live in Charlotte, NC but felt he was worth the travel. I've also completed oral myofascial therapy here. I love movement and do gyrotonic/kinesis and other modalities. Oh, and Eccentrics by MIranda Esmonde-White.(online). Every video I've done with you teaches excellent alignment, based on everything I've learned. I'm adding in the core exercise ones. Again, you are an amazing teacher in terms of understandable explanations and cueing as well as your ability to coach and push! Thank you so very much.

I love your videos. I am hoping they will help with my issue, although I wonder if it can help due to having an abnormally high palate, narrow mouth and a tongue thats literally too big for my mouth.... Braces as a kid has literally ruined my face/structure and mouth breathing is what iv always done when i sleep, ultimately wrecking my teeth, along with my tongue pushing on the back of my front teeth, which has moved them out of alignment. I have to force my tongue back to accommodate it. Premolar removal is not ok. Would love to visit you, but Im all the way across the pond in the UK. 🇬🇧

Love these videos! I've been doing the TMJ and Sleep Apnea videos for the last few days and feel a difference with my tmj. I have a question: would you recommend the mouth tape during sleep and doing these videos before bedtime? Also, I recently found out I have a deviated septum, would the mouth tape cause more damage if I can't breathe well through my nose? Thank you - you're a life saver!
@dradamfields
@dradamfields Год назад
Hi Laura, Try going on a walk with your mouth closed the whole time. Then tape during wakefulness for an hour. If those are possible, you should be just fine with taping. Yes, i like the videos before bed. You may want to look into having your palate checked by a dentist that uses the Vivos DNA Appliance or another expander to help the palate come down and help the septum straighten out. Just a possibility.

Thank you so much for the reply and suggestions! I believe an orthodontist suggested this but wanted me to wear braces for two years (the metal kind too). Then, I found out about the deviated septum from a ENT doctor. The interesting part is that I've been experiencing these symptoms since my teens (38 now), expressed my concern to my PCP and they would give just give me pain medicine, muscle relaxers or allergy medicine. And now, at 38, im realizing all my symptoms are related. I can't express how wonderful these videos are - I've been spreading the word since Sunday.

Adam. The suprahyoid actually pulls the mandible backwards which can cause TMJ. Sometimes it’s best to leave the tongue down
@dradamfields
@dradamfields 3 года назад
Hey Playz ; )- thanks for the comment. To my knowledge, the 4 suprahyoid muscles consisting stylohyoid, the digastric muscles, the mylohyoid and geniohyoid all help with swallowing by elevating the hyoid bone. The geniohyoid also depresses the mandible. I'd love to hear more from you as it is my impression that proper tongue posture while sleeping is up on the roof of the mouth with the tip of the tongue on "the spot". Are you saying at times it is better to have the tongue on the floor of the mouth? Please expand. I'm open

@@dradamfields Hi Adam thanks for your response! Tongue posture is important but is very counter productive if the person raises the hyoid bone to much and it can actually retract the mandible. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N9XztWBxvsE.html

Hello Dr Fields and others! I am sure this is different but wondering about the length of time folks did these before noticing results. Also in terms of mild sleep apnea, are these exercises alone something that might eliminate it?
@dradamfields
@dradamfields Год назад
Hi Billy, Plan on a couple of months of daily exercises. There can be other reasons for apnea and these were, initially, meant to be used with my care in the office. I used balloons inside the nose doing Endonasal Cranial Adjusting, lasers for the mucosal linings, nasal ozone therapy, collagen stimulation for the soft palate and other modalities in my office. However, after posting my first video, people began to tell me that they were getting great results with just the exercises. This may be the case with you. What I do know is that if you have obstructive sleep apnea, you are bound to get some benefit from the exercises. Go for it and let us know how you do. If you need more help, let's get together online or in-person. All the best!
