Cracking video Scott, just a touch snowy but problem no for you and the Scania! No you don’t want a Merc, be different! Keep up the good work and stay safe! 😀🚛
Lovely to see you back in action, and what beautiful timing to see the snow, as I sit here roasting, sitting in my car whilst the sun turns it into a greenhouse on wheels.
Well done on getting to Eyre's yard, I was keeping things crossed just seeing what it was like in Sheffield. We were stood down during that time but we were trying to re-open the road here, started with tractor Friday morning and got road open by Sunday afternoon using two tractors! We are about 15 mile from where you were but roads had up to 6 feet of snow in places. Have a good week Scott very enjoyable nail biting episode.
As a retired driver, (not trucker) I would never recommend going for a Mercedes. Perhaps their gearboxes have improved but I never found one that was reliable. Glad to see you back from wherever you have been. Love your vlogs, especially when you are in Builth Wells. It was a regular stop for me years ago except when the Royal Welsh was on. There was a cinema by the bridge, on the Brecon Road. Is that still there?
Hi Scott matey 👍 it's mark from Wirral Merseyside great video in the snow with the loads you had to do and quite funny aswell. And it's great to have you back keep up the great work 👍👍👍 thanks from mark 👍👍
I buddy hope you are well.i bet you are fed up with the snow it's ok for a short time. Philip as started is training but been having problems with the reversing my instructor says he can see a improvement tho. I just want to get passed now so I am ready for the summer I will keep you updated on my progress. You take care and keep enjoying life philip.
Brilliant to see another vlog from you Scott, great content and I've got to say I was having a right rant at that Avensis driver who was causing you to lose momentum 😂. Stay well 👍🏻
Scott, they don't half like piling the gross amount of timber on! I'm surprised they didn't ask you to open the the pasenger door to take another pallet!
For a moment Scott, thought you was up near Tiny Rebel's Brewery (Rogerstone, Cracking place BTW)..... Fantastic COB van just down from there, does the most amazing Breakfast COB (Dustbin lid sized), full on the works, with Black Pudding too.
the snow wasn't too bad from what I seen of it on my way to, and from Edinbrough. with an over night stop in Blackpool in both directions, the 1st stop made me wonder if I was doing the right thing, but snow only stuck to the windows of my car, Edinbrugh stay for 2 nights the snow stuck to the roof, but was clear by the time I had breakfast, and last night in Blackpool had to clear snow off my car completely before pulling away. made lovely wintery wonderland, but not anything stuck to the roads which made for nice driving, the car was stinking dirty of road salt, and needing a week in the garage as the clutch was a little frazzled from the traffic jam capital of the UK!! so needed to be replaced so M50 to Bridgend, then Bridgend to Swansea coaxing my automatic car gently to the garage, but that was all the fun I had.
Hi Scott, its nice to see you back mate, i got some bad news to tell you that on the 24 Feburary this year my wife Jackie passed away at the age of 51 , take care and stay safe mate
Ooh, yer back. Missed seeing your vlogs. Hope ya keeping well. Think I may have killed my van today... Oops... Hopefully dead enough for them to get me a new one...
I was just yesterday thinking it's been a while since Scott released a video. edit: Seems like they loaded the planks on those first pallets 90 degrees off from what they should've done.
Mr. Jenco doesnt want to give up his "no mirror Merc". But he will lose it next year nonetheless. Wonder what he will get? Cheers! Todd the retired trucker.
All your followers are so glad you an Di are back in the the lovely winter spec don't take to long for us all to see more of you an the places you go 😂
@@ScottAndrews Having included that clip of being left behind, I was expecting the follow up clip where you were driving along and mentioned something about your camera not recording then the dawning realisation you’d left a camera behind 🤣 Did the GoPro get left outside or did the customer retrieve it, and is it ok?
I was told that the retarder only works in the truck itself, so the weight of your trailer pushes on. With footbreak the trailer starts a bit earlier to break than the truck itself, so less chance of jacknifing. But that being said.. looking forward and break as less as possible should be the best option right?
Retarder is mounted to the gearbox and work only for driveaxle. For slippy condition, there is a "automatic retarder off" switch on your scanias right lever. When light, braking in slippery with motorbrake/retarder is rather dangerous.
Yes Vanahead you are correct, retarder only holds back drive axle on unit, and yes can lead to drive axle sliding in snow or ice causing truck to jackknife. We only have the less efficient/powerful exhaust brakes but still safer to switch it off in these conditions.
Both of you, vanahead & Cloudmaker, are correct.....but lets understand that there is a difference between a "Retarder" and an "Exhaust Brake". The bad boy between these two is the Exhaust Brake, a.k.a. Jake-Brake in North America, as it can generate up to 300 bra king-horse power onto the drive-axle(s)....which may well cause a jake-induced loss of vehicle control. The Retarder on the other hand works off of the transmission output-shaft onto the the drive-line/drive-shaft. On a manual gear-box you have to activate it manually as well, however on a automatic or computer-control manual tranny, the Retarder will activate it self.' (ps: on newer trucks, the Retarder is actually called in "Intarder" because it is located inside the transmission at the output shaft, but acts exactly the same way. Back in 2009, I had the pleasure to deliver four (of 26) brand-new Alexander-Dennis double-decker busses from Halifax/NS to Vancouver/BC for the 2010 Olympics. (they arrived in Canada by ship ex Liverpool). They were equipped with both, the Intarder as well as an Engine-brake.....and I descended all four mountain-passes in the Rockies (Kicking Horse, Yoho, Rogers and Coquihalla) without once using my service-brakes (except to come to full stops) because the two alternate wear-less brake-systems did their job. (on the last bus, which I delivered on Sep.4th, we had the first snow in the mountains for that season. Btw....24,000 km, back-to-back in the middle of the summer, with no radio, no arm-rests, no cruise control and no fuel-gauges, but 93 empty seats in the bus).....8 213-hour driving-shifts per bus, with over-height permits in each Province (legal height in Canada is 4.1 M or 13' 6", and these busses checked-in at 4.3 M or 14'1"). Lots of fun ;-)
