V8 MR2 Engine is In !

Such a relief to have the drivetrain re-installed. Everything went back together as expected and this now looks like a car again. Unfortunately the entire cooling system has to come out to paint the trunk. So, It looks like that is what's up next. After that, I can add fluids, power and attempt the first start. I'm getting excited.

MR2 fans and enthusiast don't know that Toyota made a V8 MR2 called the MC8-R using a Lexus V8 from the SC400. It's a elongated MR-2 with slight body modifications to house the V8.

It’s no longer an MR2. The trunk and engine bay lids are gone. But hey, it’s a monster motor.

Pardon my ignorance but what make of engine is that? I see that you are using a Porsche transaxle but I didn't see any reference on what kind of engine you are using. Thanks.

Hi ! This is a GM LS based v8 (LSX) . But technically speaking it is a 5.3 LM7 iron block from an Avalanche. The intake manifold is from a 5.7 corvette. Thanks for watching : )
