That's a really good idea. It'll strengthen the mounting 2x4s from crushing under the clamping force of the bolts and nuts. It MIGHT be thick enough that the bolt would snap before the metal warps, but it's still a really good idea regardless, structurally speaking.
That Dude Your Mom Warned You About... ye if you tie the two clamping surfaces together it will make it stronger and prevent twisting and possibly breaking the bolt
Betty, dumped on the ground, 80's box flairs like an old Renault R8 or silhouette racer... with a snarling LS spitting fire and some old-school supa-wide JDM AF wheels.... Lovin this project!
Hi Adam. If you are puting bolts that go through the rectangular tubing you cut to bolt the sub frame to, you need to weld pieces of pipe into the rectangular tubing on both sides where the bolt goes through to prevent the rectangular tubing sides from squishing together. If you don't it will collapse. So wait until you know the correct position of the bolts, and weld in the pipe, with a inner diameter just large enough to put the bolts through. ang you can them safely attach the sub frame. otherwise there will be problems
Man i had an 87 accord LX-I just like that man that was my first Honda and i fell in love with it i just straight piped it and threw a system in it i was young and didn't have a lot of money
Been following you for a few years now love all the videos you really are very talented keep it going big fella you really produce excellent content 👍👍👍
As someone who also does alot of planning and measuring for projects, I really appreciate the level of detail you go to with this project. Too many people just slap shit together and suffer the consequences later. Keep up the progress 🤙
Great stuff, If you werent already planning it like this I would strongly recommend tacking everything in and mock everything in before fully welding anything, much harder to cut things apart if you need to move something if its fully welded. No matter how much planning and measuring you do, you will need to move something
I am so lit for this build! Hottest on the block right now for me. Always wanted to drop a ls in a accord or a Camry or something similar. Keep em coming brother🔥
you can use the GTO trans tunnel it's a lot easier than building something from scratch and the shock Tower plates it takes time to fabricate it looks good to me
just a thought man, make sure you have your caster set up right when you mount your strut top hats. whatever you do, dont just put them where the old honda struts used to be. sick build man i cant wait so see it finished.
Looks nice Brother, there’s really no other way to make this work and if someone has something negative to say ask them to show you their ls swapped accord
Adam it sounds as though you are a man with a plan and as for those 2 box sections I have seen the same way of using them on other projects and they have turned out to be good builds. I have faith.
don't be so hard on yourself !!!! looks awesome keep postinvideos i gotta see you shred that beast! p.s this is way sicker than a k.a swap lol do that next
I would recommend using a solid axle in the rear, much easier to fab mounts for it, u can see how hard it was for jimmy and b hall to get the IRS to fit in the civic chassis, i personally would use an 8.8 solid axle from a ford explorer with rear disc brakes
If you haven't subscribed to this channel yet... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DOING IT! 👍💯 Bode, this project is coming along so well. I have full faith that with your skill & attention to detail, this thing is going to be a MONSTER!! #BEASTMODE #likecommentsubscribe #2020BodeVision
Bro this is looking like it’s going to be a pretty decent swap all things considered! Been waiting for a while for you to do something with Betty White and it’s definitely been worth the wait!
You can see the mid point of the subframe at the mid point of this video.i really like the idea of plug and play seems like the better way to go.do you plan on keeping it sleeper?
This is gonna be exciting!...This is almost like Jimmy Oakes Project "Nissonda" Honda Civic w/ the S13 Drive train ..Wondering if you will do similar fabrication stuff!
hi bode, I don't know if you know JimmyOaks But he is making a EK civic coupe RWD with a KA drivetrain. maybe you can get some inspiration from him with the fab work of the frame. Love your videos bro. keep it up! (Sorry for potato english) ;-)
Betty white is going to be a big job..but not for our boi Bode. To be honest I thought you bit off more then you can chew on this one mate. but you got this hands down brother. Nice work 👌
Remember! The lower balljoint needs to sit in front of your fender center line to account for the -3 to -8° degrees of caster that the suspension geometry calls for. Take a moment to measure out the distance from the lower to the upper pick up points and then go all pythagorean theorem with those measurements. Figure out the scrub radius with the new track width too. You might find that you need to stretch the wheelbase slightly for the new rack width depending on how much scrub your wheel have in relation to the axis of pivot.
