Picked up mine 2 weeks ago, same color as the vehicle you tested. Initial impression- one of the most fun cars I've purchased. Fast enough, sound is intoxicating, comfortable, killer sound system, and for those who want more power, there are mods for RCF that will be adapted to this car.
Stopped taking MT's Jonny seriously ever since he compared the LFA with the first gen NSX and was constantly complaining about how scary the LFA is to drive and therefore Lexus should've put more effort into making it better.. Lol
Well, maybe because the first gen NSX was one of the easiest and best-handling cars to drive (and half the power of the LFA), so by comparison, maybe he was right.
@@KoolieBhai yeah, they patented a v8 twin turbo design a year or 2 ago. Plus Akio Toyoda promised that he was going to move away from creating boring cars and back to innovating more. I think the new slate of “F sport performance” badging is starting to show that. I think the new category of trim level will be similar to dodge having the scatpack & hellcat trim levels. If this isn’t a true F car but puts up the same specs as the GSF & RCF, I can imagine the next iteration of F cars will be extremely competitive with M series & AMG. Motor1 said that the engine they’re developing is rated at 661 hp & 480 lb-ft of torque. I’m really excited because Lexus doesn’t implement new technology until they’ve worked out the kinks & know that it will uphold their standard of reliability. Mercedes & BMW are in for a big surprise pretty soon lol
Man Toyota can sometimes really surprise us in amazing ways like building the LFA, GR Yaris and this new IS500. But they can sometimes also completely drop the ball like having BMW make the new Supra and pulling the Land Cruiser from the US market.
The last 2 are dropping the ball though. The new Supra is Fantastic. Having it be built by BMW was a wonderful choice. The Land Cruiser doesn’t sell well in the US, so pulling it was also a good decision. The Lexus version will still be on sale so it’s not like the platform is disappearing.
@@PranavRakkappan yeah but the thing is that people who want a land cruiser are outdoorsy types usually who take their SUV’s camping & off-roading. Nobody takes a new Lexus SUV off-roading no matter how good they are at doing it. Their front end clearance isn’t high enough to take it off-road without damaging it.
Yea I respectfully gotta disagree with the Supra comment, BMW is has been building turbo straight sixes for close to 20 years now. The engine in that supra is and will continue to be a tuners wet dream. The only draw back is the fact it still hasn’t had a 6 speed put in it and a targa version(fingers crossed Toyota goes this route in the future models). The land cruiser in the US makes absolutely no sense, why pay nearly 100k for an outdated and outclassed luxury SUV. Especially when the LX is just the better option. I believe their is a market for a land cruiser but one focused solely on off-roading. If they went and released a stripped down full balls to the wall TRD land cruiser, with triple locking diffs and the whole TRD treatment in a 2 or 4 door configuration similar to the new bronco/ land cruisers from the Middle East and Australia they would sell out every single one. Lastly the IS500 is really such an awesome car Im so glad it’s being made, wish it was a bit more crazy and a bit more enthusiasts oriented(6 speed or the love of god). But it’s a looking like Akio Toyoda is making good on his promise for no more boring cars.
I guess but I think most people who get a land cruiser, in the us at least, would be more likely to just drive it around as a big luxurious SUV. The land cruiser isn’t/wasn’t exactly cheap at $85,665.
I own a 1998 Lexus GS400, which has over 250K miles and which has been a joy to drive (will keep it in storage)! Since the V8 GSF was discontinued, I just bought the IS 500 Launch Edition. LOVE IT! The power is incredible and OK another 250K miles (or more) in possibly that LAST V8 Lexus will produce! GREAT CAR. Feels like I'm driving a race car, which is faster than my 2nd car I ever owned, a 1974 2-Door Chevelle Malibu Classic which had a 454!
472 horsepower - IS 500 Lexus 2022 - Resell value is higher too. The IS 500 has a maximum output of 472 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 395 lb. -ft. of peak torque at 4,800 rpm.
We got our son the is250 awd, and that is an awesome car! (We have a review of it on our channel too) ...I think mom and I found the next lexus we want when he moves out!
I just watched your video. I'm impressed, how many miles does it have on it? I'm debating giving our son our Q50 rwd or getting the IS250 AWD. You guys definitely get more snow than me
@@timw2083 hey thanks! We bought it back in January 2021 w/216k on it... it now has 240k. Still drives and performs Great just like the day we picked it up. It's not as fast as the is350, but the awd system is flawless! Thanks for watching!
Lexus has gone full on marketing with the IS500 but it’s almost the same thing as the IS350. Thanks for the V8 but this time it’s about profit not about proving a point as in the ‘08-14.
Ya. I better buy one while I can. All this electrical drive cars are really upsetting to me. It seem like manufacturers are making ridiculous gas powered performance vehicles before the government starts to really ring our necks with strangling the gas industry. Forcing a population to do something that the majority doesn't want typically doesn't end well. Regardless, I feel it's my last few years to be able to get a dream V8 car that I want.
For motor trend I would give this video a C. No stats or specs, but you did have a pro drivers opinion. He basically said it was a little slow but sounded good though.
Check out Raiti’s rides, he did a review of this car & he was a professional race car driver for a couple of years. He gave a really in depth review of this car
Lexus has NEVER recreated the awesomeness that was the OG IS300. They always seem to f things up. No manual and outdated or lack or new tech. In a old car they keep putting new bumpers on. LC500 is the real Supra. Not the Toyota emblem on a BMW. Stop it the bs already Lexus.
they have, But journalist see that it's lexus and disregard it and give it a pat on the back at best... The 98-04 gen GS 400 ran circles around the Eclass and bmw 540 of the time, the LS400 at lunch was faster and more powerful than its competition, And still put out better power numbers in the late 90s fitness competition if not equivalent or slightly behind it by a few horsepower... and IS300 was better than c class for sure journalist will grab lexus and say it's not an AMG
i don't get the logic of saying "passion = gas" ...it seems to now sound like holding onto something that was never real. Passion is speed, cornering, break and acceleration...not gas.
This is why mags and RU-vid reviews don't matter for cars they're just advertisements very few are honest and can be bought if the car is so good... it wouldn't need paid for reviews...the reviewers that aren't bought and give honest reviews would be claiming how good it is and they're not 🤷
It's a 2022 car. What do you want them to review? They probabyl got the car to try it out and advertise it. They will make a video of it when it actually out.
They’re the same speed. F80 0-60 in 4.3 & the fastest time this car got was 4.37. If you put bigger performance tires on the rear wheels you can definitely get this down to 4.2 at least
Beautiful transmission cooler in the front grill - Nice job Lexus! If COOPER is reading these comments, if you can shove a V8 into an IS, couldn't you find a black colored transmission cooler?!?! Seriously...embarrassing!
Hey the rcf trans cooler bolts right up to the is500! Will be an easy swap with no cutting or anything any frustration! That will be my first “mod” along with a big brake kit!
So that Jordan Maron guy is famous and wealthy because he PLAYS VIDEO GAMES?!? 🤦🏻♂️ Jesus, this world is crazy. But seriously, why was he even in this video? They’re acting like he’s Jay Leno or something ..... the guy just learned how to drive stick shift like a year ago 🤣
This is a great car and all but 16 mpg when gas is nearing $6/gallon and the whole West Coast is on fire every year because of global warming is going to start feeling really out of touch really soon.
It’s the last of its kind, but electric cars are dope though. I liked the Tesla I drove for a week but ended up canceling my model Y performance order shortly after living with a Tesla. They are so close to being what I want them to be but as for now not quite! The excitement really wore off after 4-5 days. And interior quality wasn’t that good. Plus a lot of small issues I only found out about after joining Tesla owner groups.
@@Nate_The_Greattt Honestly, I'm not a fan of Tesla's quality (although I appreciate what the company has done for electric car technology). But, I absolutely love the Model S Plaid.
It's uncomfortable to me that the car don't have any sound. Maybe in the future when SJWs completely kill V8 and other engines with actual sound or diesel to travel longer. Sadly I'm not into them at all. Especially when they are overpriced.
