Watch this VE Commodore get absolutely sent down the stages with the Victorian Rally Championship. Support Grass Roots Motorsport with Blend Line TV www.blendline.tv/
The quickest way to get along any given stage? Perhaps not, but that sure as hell looks and sounds like massive fun! He can drive a little bit, that lad, even if he can't find reverse ~
I’ve seen the inside of the car in a different video. Reversing I believe takes a while since it’s a sequential automatic transmission so he has to dial back a few gears manually using a lever before he can reverse
When he spun in the last clip, I knew he was having a laugh with his co driver and discussing the best spot for a donut. He had to turn around it's a perfect spot, why not lol
I vaguely recall Modern a motor magazine doing a test on the HDT Magnum, based on the Statesman. Peter Brock demonstrated the car, and made the comment about a Statesman based rally car. Now that would be superb.
This car competed in the ARC component of the WRC up at Coffs Harbour a few years back, the mechanics from one of the factory teams saw it and came over to ask questions about it. They had never seen a car like it and laughed at the crazy horsepower as you can't use it all on the gravel but loved it!
Euro-rally: Efficient, all wheel drive, souped up it with bigass boost, all the electronic control, all of the balance Aussie rally: But consider, manual v8.
Here in the states, someone will occasionally enter a Fox Body V8 Mustang or an old Sierra with a V8 swap, or a Lexus IS V8, and remind us all how good that sound is bellowing through the woods. EV rally cars will not be worthy! ...Fine for commuting but not this.
@@isakjohansson7134 yes efficient They are restricted to 380hp from a 1.6 turbo, rallycross shows those engines are capable of 600+ for good periods of time Thats at least 237hp/per liter, more when derestricted.
@@nazimelon6653 A stock LS 5.3 litre bottom end can handle in the neighbourhood of 1350 hp. That's 255 hp/litre. It's not that these V8s are inefficient.... it's that they're ridiculously detuned, so typical drivers don't kill themselves.
@@nortons4673 mate, I'd love to but we're literally in a giant prison. We're not allowed to leave Australia at all. All this supposedly for our safety 🤦🤬.
@@nortons4673 it's pretty sad. The Australia I grew up in was such a proud, bogan, and resilient place. It genuinely breaks my heart to see the majority of people accept the government overreach over a bit of wu-flu😥🇦🇺
Don't care if I came last every time...the sound and enough torque to get tail happy ( and do circle work ) virtually any time you like would make my Saturday morning big time !😎👍
Impressive how such a big heavy car is thrown around like that, great set up and driving skills, it looks like this is for fun more than being competitive
Haha! Brilliant bit of driving. Awesome display for the fans, love it. Sound also reminds me of the ole’ V8 Triumph TR7’s getting around the rally circuits!
Y’all knew you blew it but you put on a nice show for everyone. That’s great you guys rock. I’m going to have to start following you all now just for the good sportsmanship. 👌🏼👌🏼
I was standing trackside when he dropped that big doughnut. Everyone got completely hosed with dirt and rocks. I made an effort to cover my face but plenty of others didn't and were a bit upset afterwards! 🤣🤣🤣
Ive NEVER seen a VE that I actually liked, or respected before this. This is mint, such a heavy car to be fangin' round these turns but it does it elegantly.
FUCK YES!! Now that is true Motorsport.. None of this must win at all costs mentality, just getting out there and having a fat time and putting on a show for the people who pay to see and keep their chosen sport supported!! What a true Aussie champion.
