@@dantegabrielittesor4483 Indeed, as he often did. He wrote for specific singers, and knew their voices well. Those low notes should be the strongest part of the voice.
I listened to all interpretations of Giulio Cesare I could get my hands on - Mr. Scholl , you are just the best. It's not just the voice and impeccable delivery, it is the your brain - you hear fine things which are not on the music sheet and grant us the favor of listening them through your voice.
This is far and away the best conducted version of this piece I have heard. The piece seems to demand a lively treatment, and both the orchestra and Scholl certainly deliver it.
Quiet and camouflaged is the wily hunter, a predator stalking its prey. And one that harbors ill intent isn’t quick to utter what his heart conceals away.
I've just listened to several different performances of this aria (including Glyndebourne and the Met, which appear to be the same production), this is much the best - and also the longest and the most elaborate.
After Ombra Mai Fu, this is another fantastic, audibaly supreme interpretation of this aria by maestro Andreas Scholl. Thanks for the upload. The horn is heavenly .
I like the pace of this performance and Scholl is superb. I especially like how he ornaments the reprise of the first section. Handel's writing has wonderful contours.
This Aria, so exquisitely performed by Herr Scholl, is full of such bittersweet memories for me! I was studying Music Theory at university over the summer break, and the selfish boyfriend I'd just had a glorious short time with after a 12-month courtship decided he'd rather screw the world and travelled interstate just to break the news. How kind! Needless to say, I fell apart and my BMus never really recovered on top of my mother's near death and my intended husband's interstate suicide a year prior. I say these things for context, not for pity. Listening to this heavenly music before most things went so wrong is such a comfort. Danke schön, mein geliebt Herr Händel, und öder Herr Scholl! ❤️
So true....for "They are not long, the weeping and the Laughter...Love, Desire, Hate....I think they have no portion in us once we reach the Gate; They are not long, the days of wine and Roses.....Out of a misty dream our path emerges for a while and then Closes.....within a dream....." Cheers from Acapulco!
Impeccably sung--I would expect no less from Scholl. I've been a fan for a long time. But Robson is acting him off that stage, and absolutely could match Scholl for musical interest and inventive ornamentation, especially when he was in his prime.
@@rupertvega-rice4724 When I first discovered the complete production, the singing was so beautiful that I watched the whole thing without having a clue what was going on! It opened up the glorious world of Baroque opera for me, which has been a revelation and also a mainstay through trouble.
SCHOLL ME ENCANTA ES MASCULINO ADORO SU PRESENCIA ESCENICA SU MAVARILLOSA VOZ ENAMORA NO POR NADA LA GRAN CECILIA BARTOLI LO ESCOGIO PARA ES A MUY BIZARRA VERSION
@LadyIslay You're right, audio and video not properly synched. It's a pity as the video quality is better than the other version of the same aria posted here on youtube.
What a pity! This is a far better copy than the other version of the Copenhagen production available here. But the lack of properly synchronized audio ruins the whole effect! :(
The beginning dialogues are not at all boring It helps to initiate & leads to this beautiful and challenging aria. Is it possible to get the words of dialog before the actual aria begins?
@@adityapurohit8232 the aria is not challenging at all. TOLOMEO: Temerario latin! CESARE: So che m'intende. Empio, tu pur venisti in braccio a morte. CESARE: Scorgo in quel volto un simulato inganno.
David Daniels forever! Better voice, better presentation. Not that this is not very good. Handel arias available I think by Schirmer if you don’t want to buy a whole score but rather a selection of arias to sing. Collection by voice type I think but am remembering.
It takes all sorts, I suppose. You need to polish up your sense of humour. (I take it you are not denigrating the talents of the greatest countertenor and the greatest operatic actor in the world? Or do you not appreciate the baroque?)
