The suction gauge performs no physical function of the vacuum system. All it does is monitor how much suction you're getting whereas the relief valve actually relieves pressure in the system if there is too much at any given point But the relief valve does not tell you about the health of the system like the suction gauge does, they are two completely different parts of the system
