the very cool thing on top is that the brand/the watches is (are) not that hyped like the ones from another manufacturer in Geneva... Everything is much more relaxed and not seen with "religious" seriousness ...
@@WatchAdvisor A Vacheron Constantin you buy only for yourself. Other brands get bought for others, to show you can afford them or for speculation. Owners of VC love watches, not the status. One of the reasons I love the brand so much.
Vacheron Constantin is very much under the radar, while Patek Philippe is too much hyped... A more reasonable and moderate look on both brands would be necessary...
@@WatchAdvisor I think right now it’s the stainless steel sports model craze that has hyped Patek. While Vacheron Constantin has the overseas, that model doesn’t separate itself enough from classical watch designs to be interesting. That’s why the 1921 is so admired. It’s different and elegant. I do love the re-release but they missed an opportunity to show off their mastery of complications. Imagine a 1921 with a perpetual calendar or because it’s a drivers watch, a chronograph.
Historiques American 1921 is already an icon and a representative watch of VC. beautiful, elegant, Art Deco, with its own identity: it is a watch from a great collection. Thank you Mr. Alexander for displaying such an extraordinary watch and for interviewing the Christian gentleman ... By the way: When Vacheron shows a 1921 American in steel it will be crazy; a modern classic ...
WatchAdvisor on the road Congratulations Mr. Alexander !! It’s always great to hear from the brand representatives the novelties Trying to get back to normal #BeSafe
Hey Alexander, what a great video - you and Her Selmoni - two of my watch heros. I can’t even begin to imagine the complexities of making a video like in these days _ BUT please keep doing it. The wold is so bored of zoom. Stay well and a massive thanks for what you do for my passion.
Writing this kind of feedback is like loud, frenetic and long lasting applause for an artist ... THANK YOU VERY MUCH in the name for the entire WA-team!!!!
As much as a impeccable product; the friendship and service of the staff of the Miami boutique clearly puts Vacheron in the " Holy Trinity" of watches.
5:05 the moment you realize that the 1000 km drive from Austria worth it. So glad that the brands are welcoming Alexander amazingly for the effort he has done by being there in person.
I just cam home yesterday... The all over feedback to our videos is so positive and loaded with so much positive emotions, so I do not regret a second that I drove all these kilometers to Geneva and back home again... I am happy to read they! Thank you for sharing!
Have just subscribed. Great host, fresh content & seems respected by major watch companies. U seem in stark contrast to a lot of young watch bloggers who are churning out content to compete or just to get another vid out there, this is where you are unique in that your getting content from the source not speculation or copying regurgitated gossip.
Love your comment! Thank you VERY MUCH! I look back on almost 30 years in the industry... I started with writing articles and books, got online already in 1999 with TimeZone and continued my journey reporting about watches and the watch industry digital + analog and through podcasts, to finally end up producing videos since 2018 with the team... What you see here is what we think is the best content for the best audience in the world... 😉
I was very lucky to check the original out at Watch and Wonders Shanghai 2021. The piece was stunning, small, and very precise. The dial was super clean and I can't really believe it was kept in such a good condition over one century of time. I also was very lucky to try on the 36.5mm white gold version on my wrist at the Shanghai IFC Boutique. It fits perfectly for a small wrist like mine (14.6mm). I know they market it as a women's watch for smaller watches, but making them in the same proportion but a different size gives smaller wrist guys like me a chance to give it a go before backing off from beautiful watches like this. I think VC did a great job in making sure that its customer base is covered with elegant style watches, which is very different from many other brands that focus more on larger sports watches marketed towards men with the larger wrist. I got to say this watch will be on my next shopping list probably in a few years.
your passion for watches - is wonderful. the VC AMERICAN , is just fabulous. such an interesting chat , like taking a class in horology . thanks. ~ JDS/CT
My grail watch is the 1921 in white gold or platinum. Look at that platinum and then judge how some of the brands (no names here) get away with totally overpricing for a steel sports watch that is so common (also thanks to fakes) compared to this jewel! This is just a piece of art and touch of class. I can't afford it, but I am happy for everybody that can and that it exists. Please show the Egerie for ladies. I think VC now also has the nicest watch for the gentlewoman.
Beautiful watches. The 11 o'clock crown doesn't make sense - maybe that vintage model was designed for high-hand wear? However, it was the Platine Split-second Chronometer that blew me away at W&W. One of the most perfect watches I've ever seen (except for the price!).
I was not able to film the chronograph yet ... the pieces were on the way to Watches and Wonders in Shanghai, were they are shown life to the press and potential buyers ... will come back to VC later this year and film it...
Hi Alexander !! VC on of the best and historical watch maker really nice interview. Please continuous making this hi tec content like always. Please tray to make a meeting with rolex CEO . Regard again from Doha - Qatar
My dear friend the Rolex CEO will not talk with me. I know Jean-Fred Dufour for almost 30 years and before he became the Rolex CEO we often talked also in front of a camera and microphone, but now the is no longer possible. Rolex is a foundation and no one talks in public. We now only talk behind the scenes ... Thanks for your feedback about this Vacheron Constantin video 😉
One of the most VC iconic watch. Do you know how many winds are needed to get the full power reserve and will the watch continue moving when worn? Thanks
The 4400 AS is a hand-wound calibre with 65 hours of power reserve. I don't know how often you will have to turn the crown, but I assume quite often to fully charge the huge barrel ... Click here to read more about the calibre: www.vacheron-constantin.com/en/calibers/4400-as.html
Since it is a driving watch,y assumption is that the 11oclock crown was made for right hand drive cars because the left hand is mainly used to shift. Maybe this new variation moved the crown to the 1oclock because more automobiles are going towards automatic transmissions? Regardless, it works! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, because drivers today in the 21st century need these beautiful, wonderful masterpieces as a driving tool. I’m sure VC will take your astute observation and recommend into consideration for their next iteration The American 2024.
I went to look for the platinum one whilst in Dubai last year... I am still wondering between it and a Patek Philippe although the 21 would be great to drive my prewar cars.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and passion with us and greetings from the legendary “Südsteiermark Classic 2022” that will start tomorrow … www.suedsteiermark-classic.com/?sprache_session=english … Check Start number 159 😉
They should have kept the subseconds dial at the 6:00 The new subseconds dial is not oriented to the same angle as the hour and minute hands. 12:00 position on the sub-seconds is actually displaying 10 seconds
On the historical watch, there ist the 60 second mark of the subdial in line with the main dial (12 o clock in same direction as 60second mark) but on the new model ist the subdial 60 second mark not in line with the mail dial any more but with the watch band. Any ideas why? Optically i find this malalignement to be very disturbing. shame..
@@WatchAdvisor Dear Alexander, did you receive an answer from Vacheron Constantin because of the subdial orientation already? I am really interested to know. Thank you, and thank you for all your live videos recently! You did a great job at presenting the novelties.
The original 1921 crown at 11 o’clock, because the car’s steering wheel on the right side, left hand control the gear stick, right hand wear watch and hold steering wheel.
Nearly all swiss brands you are reviewing alexander all of them open minded to share information with public via brand’s executives EXPECT rolex 🤣 you go to their HQ and review their novelties with no one appear to camera! Very weird and suspicious strategy! For over 2 years i want you to interview with only one roelx executive!
