Two different machines used in the cuts shown. The rose engine (only machine shown) cuts patterns in a radius. Many of the patterns shown were cut on a straight line guilloche machine. The dragon was most likely hand cut and inlayed before adding the guilloche over the top.
I imagine that the dragon was hand cut and then infilled with the guilloche cutting to create the uniform patterning. Anyone else have thoughts on that?
I`m thinking how they did this beautiful colorful dragon at 2:05... I just can`t understand - is it inlay of alloys with different colors or the dial made from one alloy and then plated with different metals - rhodium, gold, copper etc... I`m just trying to understand.
Enamel :) If you look around for other vacheron videos you will see they use enamels. But if you want a detailed video about the process, you can look up Clicksping, he has made an enameled piece for his wife. Quite beautiful piece if I say so myself.
Any chance you can reupload this video without the crap music? The way it is now, I can't watch it. Just a bunch of noise instruments wailing away. Even if it's just the sound of the machine running over the cams, that's good enough. Every RU-vid video with unnecessary music should be deleted, but then they'd have nothing to watch anymore! Try to be part of the solution! Upload videos without crap music!!!
