@@Konstellation_Karl_55Come to think of it, both the Sunbeam and this Eureka must have been the inspiration for the Hoover Celebrity which came out a few years later….The big mystery to me about the Crown Princess is related to the hose connection to the body: the strain from pulling the canister must have caused the hose to crack open because of the weird angle it is anchored at. Must have been a major repair problem for these cleaners
@@briant5378 That could have been an issue design wise, but aside from just little production issues and some other fragile design problems, they were solid little machines for the most part :)
@@Konstellation_Karl_55The other thing I noticed is that there is no furniture bumper on this model - which is surprising since all of Eureka’s previous canisters had a wraparound rubber bumper.
Quite regal in style and sound; I have never seen or heard one, so thank you for posting! The Crown Princess Series actually debuted in 1967 along with the Emperor model 1212-A upright - a couple years after the Eureka Empress model 1100-A canister. These model names along with Princess and Prince, reveal Eureka Williams' portrayal of its products as regal - or top notch. I'm thinking the coronet shape coordinated with the model name "Crown Princess"; although the designer would have been more accurate to name it "Coronet Princess" as only higher ranked members of a monarchy wear crowns. I had not heard the term "Irish Green" in Eureka lingo before - interesting. By the way, when you opened the lid it appeared to be plastic. Is it, indeed a plastic-bodied machine? If you do decide to create a website, you will likely receive offers to purchase or inherit some rare cleaners.
I believe I’d heard that Irish green was one of the colors, but there are so many colors that came out that I may be confusing it with haha yep it is a plastic bodied machine! :)
Oh really? That’s awesome! I didn’t know they got the obscure Eurekas too. I figured they just got Princess canisters and some uprights. Thanks for the info!
