Maria Khoreva of course! 🙂 The principals in training really differ in the styles. Balanchine has stuff like not putting heels down in jumps to increase speed. And the topics you covered in this video are great! SAB and summer intensives compared to the Vaganova school etc 🥰 Btw your English is so fluent and it‘s impressive how comfortable you are speaking in a language that‘s not your native language! ❤️

@@MariaKhoreva I was thinking the same. A comparison with Balanchine would be great. Also with Cecchetti. 🙏🏻 As topics I'd simply go with what you covered in your comparison with Claudia here and let Kathy, and maybe even Tiler Peck, tell what it's like for SAB/NYCB, even though you probably wouldn't mention in detail how it is at Vaganova in a new video since you already did in this video. But in addition to that you could do a comparison of summer intensives, differences in training/style, the typical set up of a morning class, myths and fun facts, challenges for dancing a balanchine piece for Vaganova trained dancers and vice versa, difference in pointe work/port de bras, ... Maybe this helps? ☺️ Thanks for sharing so much here on RU-vid! ♥️

I did Royal ballet in school in South Africa, then continued with RAD in Canada when my family immigrated. Vaganova always looks flexible at a whole different level and with more exotic artistry than Royal Academy ballet. Found pointe shoes more comfortable with RAD brands than the larger block style pointes of Vaganova.

I studied the Vaganova methodology in my early 20’s and became certified to teach the 1st year of the short program / 1 1/2 yrs of the long program. I was one of a handful of instructors, at the time, in the Western Hemisphere, which was a huge honor! Vaganova or Classical Ballet is far more technically demanding. I also studied more of an English method from the age of 10-17 and it was not the same. Classical Ballet made much more sense to me i.e. placement of arms and positions of the feet. I’m surprised skirts were allowed? Not when I was studying. I did have to wear my hair in a bun and could wear leg warmers through the first warm up exercise. At that point we had to remove leg warmers and dance wrap sweaters. We each brought a hand towel to drape over the barre, because we would be profusely sweating! If you have the opportunity to study or your child wants to study, I highly recommend the Vaganova method over any other. Formal education doesn’t begin until the age of 9-10. Any classes prior to that age were basically just creative movement, which is still great fun and exercise for your child. The Vaganova audition is to take many things into consideration and as what you heard much different from the Royal Ballet. I believe this is why Russian dancers are more advanced based on my experience with both methods. If I understood her correctly, the lovely blonde student did not receive a full education and her exams were for dance only? Many thanks to both young ladies, it was interesting to learn the differences in their ballet and formal education. I adore ballet still, it was my first Love. Oh, I absolutely believe in the spiritual world. I’m quite sure Madame Vaganova would visit the studio she loved. 🙏🏻💗🩰

In the 1970s there was an attempt to create a balletschool in Chile (!), in the Vaganovas tradition, i think. I was there for 3 years. I am impressed that I had the same classes as Maria (obviously I am not talking about levels, it was another time and another world). It marked me a lot. I am 60 but I have never stopped living with my "inner dancer". I will never stop training, not really. Ithink, i won a bodily feeling. I think this would of been more interesting/successful if instead of Claudia Dean who attended RBS for such a short amount of time, that Maria had spoken to someone who had gone right through the RBS - from White Lodge to the Upper- someone who then went on to be either a 1st soloist or principal of the RB. Basically someone who has had a similar experience as Maria - but in England. The conversation then could have been more about their younger school days and developing into their shared experiences dancing principal roles. Imagine if Yasmine Naghdi had been speaking with Maria or Claire Calvert...

Am I a ballet dancer? Not at all, but this was incredibly interesting and found the entire interaction fascinating.

Please consider doing a video/s with Claudia Dean... • Comparing the two methods (English vs Russian) • History of Royal Ballet vs Vaganova

Yes but could they use someone who is an expert on English style English schooling not someone who went to the for less than 2 years!!!

Let's consider that a possible added bonus 🤔😆💞

I was trained in Vaganova Method and I wouldn't have it any other way. ❤️

Thanks to the two of you, it was such an interesting and inspiring video! Very happy about this collab. Have a nice day ❤️ About the ghost question: I couldn't say yes or no but I definitely believe that it could be possible. I mean we shouldn't underestimate the things we don't know nothing about it :)

so great to hear about life at the Vaganova Academy. So many details you wondered about all life. Thank you!! My full admiration to Maria Khoreva. Sorry if I am interested mainly in the Vaganova School....

I’m 25 which means I have nothing with these two amazing schools. Too old for them, I believe👻 I watched it just because I like Maria speaking English. And, also I found the contents very interesting and helpful.

Beautiful work by the two of them. First I met Claudia on Instagram and then Maria through a student of mine.💕💕💕

Ms. Khoreva's English is impeccable. Did you learn that in Vaganova ? If so just that alone tells you what a great school it is not to mention how very difficult it is to excel in that school . I watched a documentary made by NHK (Japan) of life of students in Vaganova and it broke my heart to see some girls /boys get knocked out of school after being told flatly and coldly that you didn't make the cut after exam etc. They check your weight all the time as well, right ? That's why all Russian dancers are gorgeous be it principals or corp not to mention technics.
