I foresee Valdemar & Elbilmek becoming the leading European independent EV experts, over the next 20 yrs. The reason? The absolute honesty and dedication to learn, that Valdemar has. No sense that he's trying to over-charge for their services, but only that the whole team is inspired to provide a real service to the new world of EV ownership. I fully expect a massive business in upgrading battery packs for older EVs in the years ahead, once newer, cheaper, higher capacity tech comes through over time.

If I remember correctly from my Outlander PHEV days he is right (in practical terms), From stand-still and lower speeds there is no direct connection between the engine and the wheels so if the electric motor side gives up you are smoked. There is however one exception where there is direct drive but only over certain speeds (at around 60-70 km/h I think). This is due to that the gear ratio between the engine rpm and wheels is fixed. I'm so glad I don't own a hybrid, these will be a bloody nightmare to own second hand when warranties are out and things start to fall apart...

@@bjornnyland please remind me of the price of a Zoe and a Model S, and tell me what multiple a Model S is of a Zoe. These are not remotely comparable cars in price, size/weight nor luxuriousness. So yes, a Zoe will have smaller brake discs, it should be expected. It might also be related to the 15" wheels the Zoe has, vs the 19 or 20" wheels a model S has. Braking distance of a model S 85 (figured its an older one since its in his garage) is 38 meters 60mph to zero, braking distance of a Zoe 100kph to zero is 34 meters. So the brakes of a Zoe are fine and perhaps better than a Model S. Performance will vary depending on which specific model of the S, but best case is a plaid at 32m, not much different than the little Zoe which costs a fraction.

FYI BMW iX1 has two active recalls -replace “combined charger unit” as water ingress could interfere with charging or even cause the HV system to fail. This is ongoing with parts available -replace braking system due to RFI interference disabling all advanced braking, including ABS and stability control and brake regeneration . We iX1 owners have been notified of this but they’re not doing the replacement until they’ve got the parts. They had to shut down the production line until the new parts were in, now they’re backporting the change, prioritising those who have hit the problem.

For the old batteries, Redwood Materials should open an operation in Europe to gather those old batteries. it probably would be cheaper or even for free.

It's strange that Valdemar has to pay something for recycling here. I only know it from the usual 12V batteries in cars or the smaller ones that you find in emergency lighting signs. You get good money for those and not all of them are lead batteries.

12:08 have you problem with tesla cruise or autopilot?? I have problem with cruise and keep speed setting. While keep speed + cruise is on, Model 3 will randomly will increase spee like 80kmh to 120kmh (next speed sign). Little scary when i dont wanto car to increase speed on its own and dont expect to car do that!! Try from menu disable and activate autopilot if its software problem and reboot the car.

Has the Ioniq classic a known issue with the reduction gear box needing a specific service or replacement gears around 100K kilometers ?? I heard this rumour and as I have such a car I'd like to have some more informtion on that ...

Hi. I heard someone who had the same issue and got he's car fixed at the authorized hyundai dealership and it cost him 100,000.00 NOK. He drove his classic ioniq like he stole the car, always on sports mode and accelerates like a ninja. How much would this cost at Valdemar's car shop? Does anybody know? Thanks. I have a ioniq classic myself with almost 63,000 kilometer on the odo and 2018 model. Many thanks 🚗
