And yet Paris was constantly in front of her, kept up her pace and not once had a downtime. So how did she beat Paris?

Paris stayed out of school for over a week after not getting into Harvard, and there were a bunch of tests during that time. In addition, Rory mentioned she wasn't originally going to do the speech because she had to study for a bunch of exams. Unfortunately for Paris, make-up tests, even with perfect scores, get docked points for being late. Rory had to do an obscene amount of extra credit work to make up for her English test in the first season and that was only for one test. Rory also had a 4.0 GPA transferred from Stars Hollow High School, which only adds to her advantage over Paris that final year.

@@Kikiricki11 Did Rory miss school or went off on her interview. Rory worked just ask hard as Paris did.

@@lauriecarson6483 There you have it "just as hard" while Paris still had the advantage of being the best in the beginning when Rory did indeed struggle.

@@newreflection Rory didn't boast about her achievements but she did well. I imagine also Paris would be the kind of person that would sometimes feel too much pressure in exams. Rory also paced herself and peaked at the right moment. Paris had no life and no way to manage the stress.

Maybe Rory was written as one of those naturally smart people. For those people theh would naturally be in the top 10 but with just a bit of effort they can easily get to the top spot. I mean there were some moments when paris asked rory to help her understand some of the material. Plus she got higher scores than her in that episode where rory never told paris her scores

Paris took time off from school and Rory didn't. Paris sounded like a crack head when she did he interview. Rory worked twice as hard as Paris did.

Valedictorian is about grades. She beat Paris academically. Plus taking some time away from study can actually improve academic performance. Rory was very intelligent and studious

Actually ,it was Headmaster Charleston who let her do some extra work to get her grade back up after she wasn't allowed to take the test cause she got hit by a deer and was late. Max just relayed the message.
