I would not have adjusted that bench myself before playing. Just watching her do it wore my arms and wrists out. Someone else should have done that for her...or it should have been at the right height to begin with. And the beautiful "Valentina Bounce" at the end!! (45:00) LOL! So gorgeous...so talented.
Valentina lisitsa is one pianist who s not popular to many orchestra instrumentlists but what is important here is the knowledge based on her performances is that she comes up with outstanding delivery of all the music she played. She is I may say considered one the best female pianists at present. Bravo, valentina!
She is the best: choreography, highly cultivated , plays so easily, sensitivity, and her feelings reach the summum like rachmaninov nostalgie of the loved land
This is so epic, I don't know how the audience didn't all jump to their feet immediately. Good god those three in the front row. There should be a law against such mopes sitting so close to Valentina.
Amazing interpretations. so expressive, well projected, prounounced, super sweet sweeping melodious. So, Romantic. clarity of the presentation/interpretation of the Rachmaninoff phrasing. Amazing. I truly love this playing style. filled wit complete dedication.
Valentina Lisitsa is wonderful and i like always the magic sound!!!!! Music is a interesting way for believe in a dream and in the life. I try a new heart and i cannot temember this execution and this ispiration.I am Nello Sambataro and i believe in music!!!!! I am a musician and i travelled in Europe for music.Hi Valentina!!!!! Valentina always believe in music!!!!
watch the film "SHINE" for the true story of how the "RACH 3" almost destroyed a pianist prodigy.......this is a master class performance by an exceptional pianist........Brava, Valentina !
@tamerlanenj I saw the movie in Brussels in the 90s. Idiotic or not, it is the only movie I've seen where the cinema audience have broken into spontaneous applause at the end!
Always the Rachmaninovian! Beautifully stated left hand melodies, discreet pedaling, allowing the clarity of phrase. Lovely 2nd movement...one of the best here. Again, the left hand pointing the harmonies and counter melodies. This is all too often not given the importance it's due. The "waltz" at 28:12 is beautifully played, and thankfully not rushed. A shame there isn't better balance with the orchestra, but considering the circumstance, no worries. Explosive start to the 3rd movement! Tempo exciting, perfectly judged. At 37:51, just so lovely, leading to a the Master's beautiful cascading descending passage..and a thrilling finish. Thank you. BTW, Your live performance of the Rhapsody with the young people's orchestra is amongst the best on the internet. A MUST watch.
@@emmanuelsebaali1767 Yes...even allowing for slight speed variance of the "optimized" version on iHeart, Rachmaninoff's virtuosity on the waltz is quite amazing..I can almost EXCUSE the rapidity! haha
She's mastered this. With the orchestra (which one? It's unstated in the title) she's more musical, showing the deft nuanced touches. Rachmaninoff's beautiful composition comes out more here, than when she played/recorded it solo, which was very fast, showing her technical mastery. Thanks for showing her finger technique, it's amazing. She's "swallowed this concerto whole" - in the Horowitz tradition! This should get millions of views! Everybody hit the like button!
This recording seems to be substandard, or is my hearing going? lol Also, what's with the camera? Someone set it up right there, right in her lap, and left it! Strange. But I love it, so relaxed and informal in attitude and attack like it's a Saturday walk in the park. I LOVE the way she uses her arms and wrists to keep them relaxed so just the fingers do the work. Just as my piano teacher taught me. I also love the way she drops her hands into her lap when it's the orchestra's turn. No stress here... so unlike all Rach 3 intense performances! IMO this results in a far better performance!
You know what she is doing differently? She's not acting like she is having a heart attack, making grimaces and showing the audience how very difficult this piece is to play. That's what she is doing differently from most other pianists I've seen perform this, and she is magnificent.
@@LuluBodhi you are SO correct. No self-indulgent, superfluous histrionics, just beautiful music. This concerto is brutally difficult, and she absolutely nailed it. This is an outstanding performance. Most important: the tempo for the titanic finale is absolutely PERFECT. It’s usually too slow, and that soaring melody just falls flat.
Valentina, no doubt is as great as she always is, but unfortunately the recording and photography (fixed camera in a bad angle) are really below the standard, and the orchestra (which I don't know which one !! ( certainly it was not the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) is not at the level with Lisitsa at all, and generally the concert was not well prepared, (the piano chair for example was not pre-adjusted, it was about 30 cm. higher than Lisitsa's level )... Pity.
This was a very bad video, only with one camera at one fixed direction from the beginning to the end. The orchestra and the conductor were both missing. Never experienced such terrible recording.
I don't know what you are complaining about. If you want an excellent recording, go listen to her album. Here we have a front row seat and 100% view of the hands of one of the best players of this concerto. How much better could that be?
@@hurricane_hazel exactly just her, we don't see either conductor or orchestra so it becomes almost a piano solo piece, while here the orchestra parts are just amazing.
