What would have been a real coup is if Michele came back to fashion with a completely innovative point of view. It seems he believes his Gucci aesthetic will be sufficient to get him the same amount of praise at Valentino. I fear that's a miscalculation. My major issue with him has always been his complete irreverence for any house he helms. He doesn't seem that interested in who Valentino is or who Gucci was...just what Michele is about. I question why he hasn't started his own house. He could do this same thing over and over and there will be less cause for concern. This particular collection isn't "bad"....its just not modern anymore. Its not forward.

Also, regardless if you like this collection of Alessandro or not, the latest Valentino style under the ex designers was boring, old-lady like in my opinion.

There's a reason he's not starting his own house....because Valentino money is far more alluring than putting his own name behind his "art". That's all he cares about. If you join a house, respect the DNA. If you don't want to do that, start your own DNA. Why is that difficult to understand?
@@halo2something I see a few call backs to 80's Valentino, spring couture 07, touches of Valentino red (which I sadly thought was killed after Valentino pink became a sensation)...but 95% of this collection is Gucci thrift. It hasn't even been updated....just straight 2015.
The designer only thinks of one style and repeats it over and over again. Even after moving from Gucci for a long time, he still does the same thing....
Exactly. The tiered chiffon dress has been done to death in Gucci already. Similarly the nose ring chain thingy... U think Valentino fans will take to such styles... Whoever decided to have him as a replacement is seriously lacking in vision and fashion sense...

Why was he hired at Valentino? after all, all this has already been shown 100 times in Gucci, this whole circus gypsy tent, mixed with "Dynasty" and Indian films. he has his own, very bright handwriting, why doesn’t he make his own brand, because he makes clothes named after himself
Exactly. This isn't Valentino - yes, there are hints at vintage valentino but the rest is tired michele looks. Start your own house instead of ruining another.
Everyone in the comments is saying this is Gucci, I don't think so, this has the Valentino Romanticism correct and the 70s Valentino references are clear. I like the show, but have a difficult time pulling the outfits apart to see what can be worn off of the runway.

It is everything I expected. Alessandro Michele is a good designer, but not that good to be heading a couture house like Valentino, sorry. He will repeat the same things wherever he goes like Hedi Slimane, unable to reinvent himself. I'm really not excited to see his first couture collection, clearly not
if michele did not design for gucci prior, then this would be a legit valentino collection. edgier, yes, but the house codes are there. this is the problem. also, i feel like the casting is also very reminiscent of his gucci era. if the same model 'types' used during pier paolo's time were casted, perhaps the clothes would be seen differently.
When a designer rely on props (chiffon over lampshade), ugly models, ugly accessories (and unlike Valentino Dna) to create the mood, you know the clothes do not speak for itself...

The collection is just awful, all this has already happened in Gucci, people are shocked and disappointed in the end, after Pierpaolo Piccioli, it looks like a mockery of Valentino and I think that both in Gucci and in Valentino, Alessandro Michele will not last long and this needs to be done immediately!
It’s wearable, desirable, photographs well that’s great. Hes clearly very talented but he’s not a designer anymore. Hes not pushing himself to try different silhouettes and surprise us with something we haven’t seen before from him. It’s always the same 60-70s glamour references, bedazzle stuff. While it’s beautiful and wearable, it’s just the same thing over and over again. He needs to push himself out of his comfort zone and explore more facets around his design philosophy and style.
Loved the show ❤ the Fashion show is totally expressing himself and blending in together with Valentino . Amazing for the first show and I am excited to see more in the coming years. Also excited to see future commercial collection to see what Alessandro will bring to Valentino’s clients . People being negative here probably didn’t even spent $1 at Valentino or Gucci .
Watch all past Gucci seasons in reverse order and you will know what's going to be instored for Valentino in the coming seaons in and out... You don't need imagination at all really...

I can see more of the original Mr Valentino in this than when Piere Paulo designed for Valentino. I think Piere Paulo's asthetic belongs more with Balenciaga.

I don’t know why people don’t like the “everything everywhere all at once thing” I think people can’t comprehend Alessandro’s genius. Sure this is guccified Valentino, but this is his style of design. It’s absolutely beautiful
Highly disappointed I feel that Michele would suit a another house. Valentino is a timeless, classic brand. His designs are to wild and outrageous for a refined house such as this. Disappointing to say the least.

A lot of different looks and eras in this show collection. Polka dots to flounces, boxy to lingerie styles and the cat purse. Good, not great. Find a couple of eras and hold tight.
