You nailed it! I used to watch her too as a little girl on ‘One Day at Time’. I looked up to Valerie and her ‘show sister’ (M.P.) at the time. MP looked very similar to my older sister. People would tell her that all the time! Loved Schneider! They just don’t make good wholesome shows like that anymore. Shows that are funny yet teach you life’s little lessons. Versus all the so called Reality Shows today. Loved Facts of Life, Brady Bunch, The Partridge family, Good Times, the Jefferson’s, All in the Family, Three’s Company, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley. I have actually been watching The Jefferson’s starting with Season 1. I don’t remember Season 1 or 2, or even 3! I was too young back then to remember but watching it again now, the comments the characters make are hilarious! Every show teaches some lesson. Back when people could actually make fun of themselves without everyone calling everyone racist. Times have changed. The world today in general is so depressing, and people can be so mean to each other because they can hide behind their social media ID. It is so sad. It is easy to get down in the dumps when the chips are down - only made worse by someone bullying you or all the unkind trolls. Especially when you have lost those people (and animals) in your life who were dear and special to you. I know exactly how Valerie feels…Have a wonderful day!

Honestly she strikes me as someone who is going through some clinical depression and should probably be taking medication and going to therapy for it. And I speak from experience. I remember feeling so fragile and vulnerable all the time that I felt sad and grieving and crying all the time. Antidepressants and therapy helped me. Not sure if she's already doing that. I also feel being on TV and publicizing her struggles so much may not be helping her that much. It may just be making her feel more emotionally vulnerable and fragile. Although it also seems like a cry for help and I'm glad she feels she's finding a supportive community among the public. I hope she's not being bullied or hated on coz that happens too. But some emotional regulation may actually help her feel in control of her emotions and eating again. Going inward and doing mindfulness meditation helps a lot too. Easier said than done but not impossible.

As I understand it, Val's lost both her parents, Eddie then separated from Tom in the span of a few years---that's a lot to cope with. Yes, I agree she does need someone to talk to freely but in private to let out the grief plus short term meds. Talking so much on record is being monitored by Tom and may be used against her in his pursuit of alimony.

Three things you said....I'm stronger than I think I am....I'm stronger emotionally than I think I am......I deserve better than I think I do. You saying it makes it 100% true, because it is! I see such a calling in you Valerie to spread your message which is the human condition. We all go through just those things but you have your celebrity that will bring you to the forefront. I was where you're at and my power comes from a Source bigger than me. I call it God, some call it the Universe, the word doesn't matter. What matters is that we are connected to It and to each other. No one better than the other. We're all in this together. Your vulnerability and humility is what connects you to those who think so little of themselves. When we find a strength we thought we never had, we are on the path to Wholeness and connection to our Source. I hope you continue on this courageous path you are on. I love you.

No time doesn't heal, you just learn to except it, I lost my husband and my son years ago and I'm still hurting, she obviously never got over her first husband when she married the second one, and her weight bothers her a lot she will conquer it eventually she done it before, it's not about looks it's about health her son is also way overweight eventually that causes diabetes.

Oh my.....where does one begin?? Valerie is NOT by any means lazy!! She has a beautiful show on Food Network, has written several books, has a beautiful son, appears on morning shows, and the list is endless. She has truly been through a LOT in her life, and yes has struggled with body image - like we all do, 2 divorces, etc. yet she keeps soldering on. -- You go, girl!!!! Much love to you Valerie!!! I wish I could reach through this screen and give you the BIGGEST HUG!

Velerie you are not alone and you were real and relatable. Depression can last one day or many many days… we need to address it to deal with it. Crying is the release that helps us to heal. Can’t tell you how many tears I have wept…. i am sure alot of us have done this.

Valerie, I lost my father 3 yrs ago my husband died of cancer 8yrs ago. I am overweight and have breast cancer. I'm very unhappy with myself and what's happening I understand how you feel. I am very lonely and not happy It's hard to get older and feel alone. It's okay to cry, that's why God gave us tears. I hope you see this because I don't want you to feel alone. We have been delt with major loses in our lives. Take care of yourself.

Love yourself Valerie ♥️Things will fall into place ! Your beautiful . Make sure you drink a lot of water . Eat half of everything on your plate . Give it to another family member or wrap it up and use it for the next meal . I lost 65 pounds at age 30 . I’m 67 and I have kept it off because I learned how to lose weight . I still weigh every morning with no clothes and have since my weight loss . I eat what I want but portion size is normal . Put your food on a small plate if you have to . But water is a must !! I think your beautiful and a good soul . God Bless you . Your grieving too honey . Be easy on yourself ♥️I’m 67 now . My photo on the bike is me . I weighed 185 pounds at 30 . Diet means die . Just half your portions . That’s how Dolly Parton says she did it . I think your gorgeous. Your grieving too . Give yourself a break . Thank God you have Wolfe! That’s your love with Eddie . Peace Valerie . P.S. weighing for me in the morning is as natural as brushing my teeth . The Plateau’s when your losing is discouraging . But it will eventually drop again .

I totally understand. Try to find time for whatever made you happy before now and stick with it daily. I think we have all changed since the pandemic, and coping with a great amount of change left us feeling less in control and very uncertain about the future...... I know it did for me.

@@ggbice I agree with you, these last couple years, pandemic/Covid-19 has truly changed so much in life and the way people are these days, it certainly has not been for the better! It has made people more rude and 100% less considerate of others, I feel! We can only Hope for the best and look out for ourselves 💟! Take care and be safe.

Valerie I have always admired you....You're beautiful, you're successful, you're enough, and you belong. You're light shines bright and I am so proud of you for having the strength and courage to just BE in the moment without ridicule and judgement of ones self. The chatter in our heads can get so loud that we lose our direction sometimes. Life is beautiful and we ALL can find gratitude for something if we choose to look for it. Good luck!

Grief is always in the background. It is something you make peace with and create the new normal it forces on you. You can't try to go around it. You have to go through the process until you reach acceptance.
@birdsfan57

So true...lost my mother several months ago, and it is literally "one day at a time"...the aching grief that comes at you like an avalanche, out of nowhere, almost daily, is something that you must learn to live with, and live through, until the days without the unrelenting pain become more frequent and your eventual "new normal". It's just that getting to that point is a real warrior's journey...
