This was a family sitcom that aired on network television (NBC). They weren't going to use harsher language than that. However, cable TV and PG-13/R-rated films certainly did. For example, _Stand by Me_ (1986) has young teenagers swearing left and right.

@@razorramon7573The Hogan Family set was used to film the pilot of Family Matters in early 1989 .When The Hogan Family was canceled in July 1991 , part of the kitchen was used on Step By Step .
He also said ass and hell and had the attitude to go with it. My mom would have literally slapped my face if I spoke that way at that age. Rightfully so.
