The ultra sharp mode doesn't "give you the sharpest image possible digitally". The ultra sharp mode toggles the optical actuator to either display 2 million or all 8 million pixels on screen - it is NOT digital.

Shane, you need to start doing your homework before doing these reviews. The EBL feature is one of the most crucial features with these new valerion projectors and you just glossed over it, and appears you have left it off for the whole review. Please find some nice low APL scenes to test with EBL off and on and then provide your feedback. Also use the spears and munsil disk to test the dynamic tone mapping, or at least a good scene with very bright highlights like white clouds on a sunny day kind of thing

He clearly didn’t know what he was doing SMH. I wouldn’t doubt it if the same day he made the video was when he actually turned on the projector. Instead of using it for days or weeks so he can actually u destined the settings, etc. another useless RU-vidr making reviews.

@Xstream718 it's clear he had no desire to actually review it, learn about it, and has no clue of its potential. It's just another Chinese projector to him and not interesting because it's not high end gear. It is also clear the first time he looked at the projector was in this video. I get that his channel is not his full time job, but he could still spend a couple afternoons with it, trying out the different features on different content

Valerion’s head engineer already mentioned on the Facebook group that 3D isn’t working right now. It should be working within 2-3weeks

From what I understand, it is the autodetection of frame-packed hdmi content that is the issue and full-res 3D is expected to be available soon

Hello Shane, did you have the ultra sharp mode on that is what makes it a 4K pixel shifter? If not, this would review would have been done in 1080P? I would also like to know in the comparison shot if you had dynamic tone mapping the ebl and the 4K Ultra sharp mode engaged. If those items were not engaged then it's really not an accurate representation of what the projector is capable of. But any case for $2,000. I imagine you were impressed. I wish you were given the pro 2 model which is next in line to their flagship which has more contrast than lumens and an optical zoom

Yeah, I bet the EBL function, which is the main selling point of this projector, was off the entire video. He didn't acknowledge it when he was at the laser section on settings, and probably didn't know what it does.

@@jpbonadioyeah he didn't. On the original video that I saw when he was showing guardians of the Galaxy content. He actually toggled it off and said he preferred it that way which is puzzling since he's a JVC guy and loves black levels and that literally like triples the black level

I wish Valerion had lent you the Pro 2. It has higher lumens and higher native contrast. The Max has an optical zoom, vertical lens shift and dynamic iris.

Can you make statements regarding the projection ratio of the max version? Can you project larger images (e.g.120-130 inch) at short distances (e.g. 10-13 feet) than with the Sony or JVC?

Why did you take the video down and delete my comments? You didn't correct the Ultra Sharp Mode which engages the XPR shift for 4k, instead you state "Ultra sharp mode will fine tune the sharpness" which is not a correct statement. Ultra sharp mode off = 1080p, Ultra sharp mode on = 4k. I do not trust that you evaluated this projector fairly since you don't seem to know how to change it from 1080p to 4k.

That video was meant for Valerion to watch and approve. Changes were made after they saw it and approved it for accuracy. I have no idea who you are.

@@therealshanelee So you had Ultra Sharp Mode on or off when evaluating? In the video you do not describe it correctly and you appear to have it off which would mean you were watching a 1080p picture. Video was live yesterday and I pointed this out that's who I am.

I really wish one of these low cost laser projector manufacturers would come out with a long throw version. I sit 10ft from my 100 inch screen and don’t want a projector in my peripheral vision when I’m watching content. Great video as always!

@@juniorniebles6048 The throw ratio of both the Pro2 and the Max is only 0.9-1.5:1 which means the furthest I could place the projector lens back and still get a 100 inch image would be about 10ft 10.5 inches. I need at least 13 ft back.

@@cordcuttercam Ultra Sharp Mode: Valerion’s name for the XPR module responsible for delivering the 8.3 million pixels of 4K resolution. Like the AWOL Vision UST projectors, this feature can be enabled or disabled, allowing the Plus 2 to function either as a pure 1080p projector or a pixel-shifted 4K projector. This is particularly useful for achieving 1:1 pixel mapping when watching 1080p content. Cool feature, as it ensures optimal sharpness and accuracy for Full HD content. Here is the difference.

0:38 Not sure if anyone noticed… This Valerion is suppose to be the Plus 2 since it’s the white version. However, I noticed that on the bottom it says Model No. VisionMaster Pro 2. 🤔

It's a Plus 2 and engineering sample. The parts were interchangeable.

Great review as always Shane, but I'm certain you didn't unlock all of the best picture options available on the Plus 2 to make it a fair fight against the JVC...( a little embarrassment maybe ) but I'm positive that when the Max comes out, JVC and Sony are dead in the water...

This is THE best this projector looks against the JVC. I’ve had it for a month. I know how to set it up. There is literally NO $1500 DLP projector that is beating the JVC. There are levels and this one isn’t on the JVC’s. I’m not gonna glow about it and get anyone’s hopes up. There are other channels that will do that. People need to get their expectations in check.

@@therealshanelee Saying that a $1,500.00 projector isn't going to beat a $15,000.00 projector isn't exactly breaking news. Can you please answer if you had Ultra Sharp Mode set to on (4k) or if you had it set to off (1080p) when evaluating the projector. Also can you please answer if you evaluated with EBL on or off? EBL is the selling point of this projector as Valerion has posted a video measuring this mode at 15,000:1 which could make it compete a lot closer to the JVC than you are giving it credit for but we need to know if this mode is accurate and invisible or if you can see it pumping or flickering in real content.
