Considering this projector & Hisense C1. I know the differences in gaming & color capabilities but am intrigued by both. Would love a side by side comparison of both for video quality. Online reviews/video/pictures make both look really good. Would probably be happy with either but still love to see side by side video comparison

But are really good. The tri laser on the c1 makes colors look more vibrant, but the x500i and tk710sti are more accurate and a bit easier to watch for extended periods of time.

Question about vertical offset with ceiling mounting. My fixed screen is pretty close to my basement ceiling. The BenQ TK710 has vertical shift only in 1 direction only down when ceiling mounting).with a 3” beginning offset. Think I’d have to reposition my screen for it to work without using any keystone. Can’t find info on Hisense C1 offset to keep from using keystone. How does the C1 have to be positioned vertically in relation to the screen to avoid using keystone?

Does one of these projectors handle RBE better than the other? That factor would be the most critical to me as they seem very similar otherwise. Thank you so much for your thorough reviews. Nobody else on youtube is creating anything near their quality.

I already purchased the BenQ x500i after your "Ultimate Gaming Projector" video and was wondering about the new BenQ 710 series and how it might compare to the x500i. It's like you were reading my mind and this shorter video covered just what I wanted to know, thanks so much! Can't believe how succinct and efficient you are in ALL your videos, just amazing. Interesting side note, I did my own in-person comparison with the Epson Home Cinema 3800 against the BenQ x500i and I was very surprised at how competitive the Epson was with the BenQ. Even though it is an older projector, it definitely held it's own and it ended up a tie for me, with my decision coming down to throw distance. Have you considered throwing the Epson HC3800 into the mix for the gaming and/or other $1,000-$2,000 projector comparisons?

I generally do not review bulb based projectors due to the fact that their performance degrades very rapidly in the first 500 hours of usage. I could test a projector with 20 hours and it could finish first, but the same projector at 520 hours could finish dead last.

Awesome video!!! Glad you linked me this channel. Just wondering what you thought was a better option (home theatre wise mainly) between the TK710STi and the Hisense C1 since you have reviewed them both. Tossing up between them as both throw ratios work for me, trying to find out what looks better in a more dark environment - black levels, picture clarity etc I've also read that the TK710STi can look a little blurry in images above 100 inches, not sure if you have experienced anything like that? Thanks again!

I was recently testing the 710STi on my golf sim screen which is the equivalent of 204" diagonal... definitely not blurry. Hisense C1 has much better HDR color space coverage and dolby vision support, but the clarity of the TK710STi is better (and it has low input lag for gaming and 3D support)

Both these projectors sound great. But I need something with a longer throw ratio (92 inch from 2.5-3m), unfortunately both fall short. There’s the TK710(not STI). Is the same just with a different lens? Would this review apply to that model too or are there other differences? Also, is there a longer throw version of the x500i? The x3100i is a little out of my budget.

I'm copy/pasting a comment i did on reddit that concerns the TK710 "I would advise you to stay away from that projector for anything other than gaming. It has great brightness and nice contrasts, but there are way too many problems with it. I replaced my W2000 with it a few days ago and i will send it back shortly. The main problems i have with it is that RBE is way more present than before. (Too much for me, and i did not see it at all with my W2000). It is also not that silent, even in ECO mode it is noticeably noisier than the W2000, but that stays in a reasonable range so that is something i could have done with. And there is an awful amount of dithering on the image as soon as the projector runs at 24hz. Dithering is to be expected on a DLP, and it is very reasonable at 60Hz, but when it switches to 24Hz it becomes frankly unusable for me. So much that I am kind of surprised that virtualy no one is talking about it. It was not even adressed for one second in a comparison video i saw. So maybe I have a faulty model, but if not, believe me, you do NOT want to watch movies with it. It is just unusable. At that price point, you will have to make compromises, that's certain, but not being able to watch films without some crazy grain running all over the picture is a complete deal breaker for me. Besides that, color coverage is not great, but i was aware of that fact before buying. (that was the compromise I was ready to make ^^) For gaming it is really great though."

I'm not sure if the TK710 is the same as the 710STi in terms of performance. They certainly have the same software, light source, and DLP chip, but the optical block may generate slightly different brightness and contrast levels. I don't have an plans to review the TK710 at this time.

I waited until the TK710STi came out, and I almost bought it, but I ultimately went with the x500i instead. While the increased brightness and contrast offered by the laser is appealing, I did not like the use of a color wheel as inherent to a single laser design. Single lasers are often touted to have similar or even greater longevity than LED, but the use of a color wheel means the presence of more moving parts, making it a substantially more complex system, which will inevitably fail sooner than a simpler system (such as LED or RGB Laser), which has less moving parts, assuming both are lacking defects from the factory. I have been very satisfied with my purchase- thank you for originally recommending the x500i!

I don’t think the 710 has a colour wheel in the traditional sense. Afaik it’s blue laser, phosphor wheel to produce green and then a red LED? There’s not much information around though. From what I’ve seen the 710 has way less (even non-existent) RBE compared to its predecessor, so that’s why I’m thinking no colour wheel.

Question, by 52% are you referring to the “brightness’s setting? Does adjusting that to 100% actually keep the colors while increasing the lumens? I was under the impression the picture modes like bright, cinema, etc were the only things actually changing the lumen output, as that setting called brightness seems to just overlay a static white blend into the picture

tk710sti vs benq w2710i vs epson tw7100( 3800) for dark room theater setup? does Epson have better sequential contrast?

@thehookupextras
@thehookupextras 2 месяца назад
No, LCD projectors don't automatically have better contrast than similarly priced DLP, it depends on the specific DLP chip (0.47" vs 0.65") and optical block of the projector. Many Epson LCD projectors have native contrast under 300:1, but they are designed for education and commercial use, so contrast is less important. Rtings projector reviews are bad currently. I'm sure they'll figure out how to review projectors eventually, but the system they have right now is horrible and is going to lead people to make terrible buying decisions. The UB filter is what makes the contrast on the Epson 5050UB and LS12000 better than the rest of their lineup.
@chandan6119
@chandan6119 2 месяца назад
@@thehookupextras because many dlp chips don't go above 1500:1 contrast ratio and lcd (ub6050) ,lcos projectors have better native contrast ratio. I thought lcd (above 1000$) projectors are better in black levels compared to dlp chip projectors like tk710 and w2710i . Rtings have changed their contrast ratio measurements and now also include 1 % apl native contrast ,right? So that would help to gauge the black levels,right? Also could you suggest the best projector in this range(1000-2500$)? For a dark room theater. Many new chinese(dangbei,formovie,xgimi etc) projectors don't have optical lens shift and may not be good value for home theatre for deep blacks and sharpness,right?
@thehookupextras
@thehookupextras 2 месяца назад
Again, the high contrast ratio of the 6050UB, 5050UB and LS12000 are due to the UB filter, not the 3LCD tech. LCoS projectors (JVC, Sony) are also not inherently higher contrast, they just happen to have significantly higher quality optics. The trap you are falling into is like saying "Sedans are faster than trucks", and while it may be true that some sedans are faster than trucks, the fact that they are a sedan or a truck is not the thing that makes them faster or slower. All my contrast measurements are done using 1% apl to avoid light source blanking. Do you need lens shift and zoom? If you can put your projector in the right mounting location you can get away with no having those features.

Dynamic contrast is different than native contrast, but seems to be well implemented in the TK710STi. Native contrast on the Formovie Theater and Nexigo Aurora Pro is around 3500:1 with dynamic contrast reaching into the 5000:1-6000:1 range (on the Nexigo, Formovie doesn't have dynamic black mode). Nexigo/Formovie also support Dolby Vision which the TK710STi does not. It does appear to be a phenomenal projector for $2000 though.

This looks great, I only need a review of the ViewSonic lx 700 rgb vs benq 710. I’ve narrowed down to that and would love to see side by side

LX700 RGB is not getting a global release last time I heard so I won't be reviewing it.

@@thehookupextras it seems to be already available in Europe under a different name, ViewSonic V704K. LX700-4K RGB / V704K and Acer HL6810 (ATV) currently look like the best sub $2K projectors on the market, would love to see them compared with the rest of the bunch you already reviewed.

@@zzzzi8586That ViewSonic has horrible light pumping, basically making the dynamic function unusable. That by itself would turn it off for me, plus the brightness is far worse than the regular LX700.

Interesting. Those that don't already have the X500i, the TK710STi looks nice considering how much more compact it is. What about speaker quality though? The TK710 looks Mono?The x500i has Stereo speakers that get surprisingly loud and good quality for built-in speakers. Granted people serious about audio will use their much better stereo systems anyway. But for casual use it's nice to not have to use external speakers. Also wonder if the bigger size of the x500i helps with cooling or if the TK710STi is more efficient for it's size. Nice reviews as always. 👍

Speaker quality is definitely better on the X500i, which is where a lot of the extra size and even weight probably come from. If you don't need/want the extra brightness there's no reason to upgrade from the X500i to the TK710STi unless the buzzing of the XPR motor on the X500i drives you nuts.

I have a BENQ HT3050 and looking to upgrade for both daytime picture improvement and 4K movies at night. Narrowed down to the TK710 and the X3100i but leaning towards TK710. I use an Xbox series X for all my smart features and have a 7.1 receiver based sound system. Am I on the right track with the TK710? Will it be a noticeable upgrade from the HT3050?

@thehookupextras Месяц назад
Definitely pick the 710 over the 3100. Both will be noticeable upgrades from the 3050 (especially in terms of brightness and vibrancy).

@@thehookupextras Thanks for the reply! This is super helpful. Just a quick follow up question if possible - does the TK710 have better (or comparable) black levels than the HT4550i? Contrast ratio comparable? Received my TK710 and it’s great, but noticing the blacks are not quite as deep as my prior setup. Curious if switching the “light source mode” to dynamic impacts the darks/contrast compared to staying on normal… seems to kind of fade in and out of the dynamic effect to me. I currently have a white projector screen so I may also consider a grey or ALR since my setup is not completely light restrictive. Appreciate any guidance!
