Valga/Valka Estonia/Latvia | A Bad Stopover of Our Own Making?

Interesting town.

Funny , my time table still shows train travel from Valga to Tallinn 3 times a day, the Valga station is different to Valka, but not a long walk difference, seems to me because of language problems, or un expected maintenance work you were mucked about. In all the Baltic States there is a big % of grumpy/ungrateful people, and also cycles of pick pocketing or street theft and muggings after dark, and I have also heard of characters who will out of spite razor slit plastic bags of shopping on the chance they can grab some. Shameful but usually related to poverty, or drug habits, tourists beware! One other thing to watch for is heavy fines for walking on, or even laying down a blanket and sitting on a "Green Zone" Not always signed either, the locals know where they are, and fine has to be in cash on the spot, - make sure you get an official receipt for amount you pay so they only get the commission for collection, not to keep whole amount
