Lots of these new threats are remove / exile on sight. I feel like standard might start being either solitaire races or every deck needs to run like 12 removal spells or something. So many strong threats sheesh, we need power crept removal to keep up.

Agreed it's stressful when you've been playing MTG for over a decade. There's always been removal but I don't know .. even Fatal Push meta was ok to deal with , but there's something about The standard Orzhov Meta with Go For The Throat, Cut Down, get lost and destroy evil which is hitting enchantments too.. and let's not forget temp lock down and sunfall and with what Day of Judgment coming... ugh. And I keeping thinking about Esper Control and it is going to be painful come years end I feel 🤣 getting beat down by Restless Reef's and Anchorages .. ahhhh. We need Strip Mine in standard at this point. They're power creeping everything but land destruction.

We have 2 mana removal as the hard standard instead of 3 we have 3 mana wraths now and a ton more exile. Removal is power crept and would only make alot of strategies less viable and would only further the arms race while leaving Green worse

Yeah, I think we've probably got enough sweepers now, esp w/ pyroclasm in standard. I just think we need just a little more pushed spot removal. With glimmers dying and staying on the battlefield, all the shit with ward, the etb and death triggers getting value the 1 for 1's don't reeeally keep up. And I think green will be fine in an enchantment meta tbh, tear asunder is gonna be in a lot of my decks. I wish we had an abrupt decay or something lol. And I miss spell pierce. We'll see how the meta settles!

So the turn two red deck seems worse than the turn three. They dillute the deck with leyline but getting the turn two is rare. But turn three without leyline seems more re consistent

Kona is essentially Winota: a must kill 4drop that doesn't require much setup. Winota ended up being banned because the deck was functional enough without it, but you still had to respect a Winota win turn 3/4, Kona seems like the same thing, if only a bit more clunky. If someone figures out a functional Kona deck, like Winota in Pioneer, Kona is gonna rule the format.

Tbh, have the feeling that they powerlevel will be to high...i like longer games with interaction and decisions, but those early turns are heavy, will be interesting to see, how the meta will be🦫 Thanks for the vid Bestie

Maybe Blue can help to get Kona save on the ladder. There are some weird ways to use the survivor mechanic. One is Lost in the Maze. It has Flash and can tap at instant speed while also giving all of your tapped creatures hexproof. So that on top of sth like Tyvar or Citanul Stalwart shoul give all the protection needed. I also wonder about granting {T} abilities through Soul Cauldron. I even saw people arguing that it should be possible to stun your own Survivors through Dreamdew Entrancer. It may not be the best idea but at least it is a way to trigger survival.

With unwanted remake and splash portal you can potentially play ghalta turn 2😂if you have atraxa and the 9/9 in hand it's fun for the whole family

removal and counterspells are king right now to deal with the big threats, anything that can get you extra value out of those is gonna rule the format. I think Boros Tokens is still gonna come out on top for this set.

tbh I was wondering if a white version to play rip spawn hunter to also tutor for kona/valg/atraxa wouldn't be better (also opens the first strike lifelink unicorn which is pretty nice defensive tool against monored) (plus you get saucer)

Kona would probably be better with that Enduring Vitality card in place of the vehicle yeah. People will build this with the classic One With The Multiverse and Portal to Phyrexia package as well, might be better but idk.

What makes Ward OP is there's no way to disable it. Unlike Hexproof or Shroud, there are no specific Ward-hate cards or abilities.

There's not more ward hate bc it already has a built-in way to get past it, unlike shroud/hexproof/protection. Some of the ward costs may be high, but they're still moles better than the other forms of protection without requiring particular cards to get around. Also, uncounterable spells _are_ ward hate, even though they don't mention it.

sorry if this is a stupid question, but why do we not want to attack with Kona? does her ability not trigger if she becomes tapped because of attacking? I've read her text like 10 times now and I can't find where it says that and I'm starting to feel a bit silly 🪿

I meant it more as in thats not how we would like to use the card ideally, if op has a good blocker we lose the card so we shouldn't rely on attacking to get the effect
