The first thing I did was jump into my boat I had stationed right outside the Ashland. Sail in with monsters all around me, my boat sets on fire, instantly destroyed, I swim to the rocks and have an epic battle of life and death with a sea creature and harpys. I live, stranded, on the rocks. Make a portal and go back home to make the new boat. Get mats. Portal back. Drop boat in water. Gets to shore. Instantly swarmed by every monster this biome has to offer. 😂 Dies.
Basically my experience lmao, except I was on the mainland and was able to make a dash up a rock there. The enemy spawns are crazy overtuned in ashlands imo, but ngl actually surviving that hellish battle was so satisfying. Also died to a meteor once, but luckily it was after I cleared the whole area. I immediately had to look up other peoples experiences/tips on entering the biome because I totally thought I was doing something wrong lol.
I'm playing on hard and it's really fun and crazy. First boat ripped apart by charred. Portal burned to a crisp. Second boat arrives but we all die in the process. Third boat, we finally make a stand on the beach, get the shields up, but it was too late, we got swarmed and despite our valiant defense we were cut down. Time for the fourth ship now.
Thanks, totally forgot about the queen drops. I got to the ashlands, got fucking obliberated before I could place my teleporter. Lost my best gear & ship to get there. It's good to be back. 👍
Just killed the effing queen and honestly I prefer the shthole that is the Ashlands than the visibility nightmare in mistlands, thanks for the vid man!
Thanks for the update, helpful info of the basics that we need to get started and presented in a quick playtrough not just take this and that that like outer videos. Awesome content i can't wait to see more on the ashlands
I tried the same approach I developed while exploring the Mistlands. Which is: hollow out a big rock and set up an outpost. The fight on the beach was like the D-Day invasion except you're the only one playing for the Allies. This biome spawns mobs more frequently than all the others put together. Didn't make it the first time. Lost my Drakkar too. Kept beating my head against the wall until I got a foothold.
Ngl, I thought sailing towards the edge of the ashlands biome would be a sound strategy but so far I've explored two islands and no flametal. I would recommend sailing towards the middle. Also traveling between islands is a pain in the ass.
I haven't been to the ashlands yet, getting ready for it now.. Nice preview and tips. One thing though, if possible in the ashlands (again I haven't been there yet), why not just raise the ground for indestructible walls?
The carrying capacity on the Drakkar is kind of a joke for such a ridiculously huge boat. I had really hoped to see tameable Hares too and a Wisplight we could upgrade at least one time to double the mist-reduction effect.
And also, I don't really understand bringing the Mistwalker AND the Frostner. They're kinda similar, but the Mistwalker is better, but maybe I'm overlooking something. I think the Silver Sword should be even better damage wise against the charred creatures, except no frost effect.
haha yep that was my mistake! Although in my last livestream we managed to get the stone portal really fast so maybe it's not that big a deal after all
Oh man I was wondering why I am having such a hard time. Then I saw you and discovered the world modifier. Not need to play on anything different than the easiest combat mode.
Yeah! The video was done with normal as the mode for combat, but if it’s your first time, it would definitely be best to set it to easy. it’s nice that they have those modifiers!
i love valheim, played tons of it but i HATE the new areas because they are so horrible hard to see in, why ? its not fun if you cant see whats going on
So true, I’m just dipping into ashlands finally so I’m not entirely sure why ashlands has bad visibility yet (so far I’ve only set up a tiny outpost base on a rock after getting mauled for an hour by the mobs there lmao). But mistlands for sure had awful visibility. It feels like such an artificial difficulty style mechanic to have bad visibility be one of the main reasons an area is hard annoying. Personally I still liked mistlands a lot though tbh, but having to spam wisp torches all over my base was a massive pain.
@@Chiselchip Yeah my last playthrough when mistland was added I've played the game highly modded with my base on a huge ship and some other handy stuff. I don't know how long you've been playing on ash lands but can you say is it better than mistlands? To be fair I did not enjoyed mistlands.
@@Quaresma77pl I enjoy it, but it’s definitely more fun with a friend or two. It’s very difficult, so it’s the kind of thing that eats up a lot of time, and takes long committed sessions of gameplay to get through. Sometimes I’m in the mood for that, and sometimes I’m more in the mood for something a little more casual and lighthearted
Where are all the mobs? We tryin landing on two different places and both had a welcome committé of 40ish mobs with the big guys and stuff. Ur beach is basically empty 😮
Buddy and I arrived to what looked like a war amongst the Ashlands inhabitants. Couldn’t count how many ads there were but the first attempt was a huge L.
I am grateful for the world modifiers. I play Valheim only as a building/collecting/exploration game, and I can't stand the combat. The peaceful mode mostly makes the game what I want, but I still have to cheat-kill the bosses. This new biome looks neat, but if I had to fight my way into it and through it, I would rapidly lose interest.
@@Chiselchip I don't like other people in my games, so I always play solo. If I didn't disable the combat, that would really make the game impossible for me.
yeah i mostly build/explore , built a couple castles in edge of mistlands but most areas there are so crappy dark and foggy its no fun at all, looks like ashlands gonna be like that , bah
Idk - I kind of felt this was bad game design for a survival game with a harsh death penalty. No warning or anything - we land and are greeted by a Valkyrie, an abomination type creature, a 1 star lizard, 2 other lizards, exploding blobs, twitchers, archers and some warriors. Wtf? On top of that, there’s very little patches of lava that devastate. And you get knocked back when parrying and can get knocked into lava. It felt cheap and ruined how cool getting to the Ashlands was.
I died 5 times teying to set up a portal. In the end i decided to put them on passive just so i could get a foothold on the biome. This would have been negated if i had friends online to join me. When it goes live hopefully at least 4 of my friends will join me
