Suggestion: I'm sure you could adapt one of your previous designs but how about a Modular Viking hall? Something that is built as a functioning house in stages so as a player goes higher up the tech tree the house gets bigger but still looks great at the end of it (like this build looks amazing)? Like you start off with a simple 5x5 or something which you can build off from as needs get more advanced. What do you think?
Yeah I really like this idea and I have thought of something similiar before, maybe like a stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 progressing through the ages sort of thing?
This is so cool!! I just got my hands on valheim and I cannot wait to make some long huts for myself!! thank you for this tutorial!! You make it look so easy oml, the talent
In a house build like this I guess a duplicate you can decorate the center interior with that epic Viking long table fire pit that was used way back in The Plains Longhouse Build you did before. As this is a really long house for an epic feasting table. Still have plenty of room left over in this house for lots of decoration.
I love your designs -- they've been a big inspiration especially the boat house. I do have a question/request - most of your designs seem to be all in the open and as you know, when you play in normal mode (not creative mode), you can have some pretty intense raids that can really put a crimp in those nice houses you build. I was wondering if you could do a design that is both esthetically pleasing AND defensible. In other words, with a moat or raised walls around the compound to protect the base from raids.
I’ve built two of the Vetlive builds one a Massive Dock and the other a Longhouse in the meadows fairly close to each other but still not that close. It’s also on a Multiplayer Server where there is no Terrain Manipulating in the rules, so digging trenches or massively raising the land is also out. What I elected to simply do is just get out the house and fight the mobs as well Trolls as I’ve had a few of those along with Swamp raids. But if you just get out the house and your seen by the enemy they will chase you vs attacking any your structures. You the player has to be smart enough to kite the enemy and kill them away from build structures where applicable and kill them while kiting them around, but again away from structures. I’ve done that in well over a dozen plus raids and not a single piece of structure was destroyed. And this is on a multiplayer server with no terrain manipulation rules. So it’s far easier on a solo server where a person can do whatever they want for defenses. Another option is just to put a wide defensive fencing area around a landscaped build like in the video. Workbench the area inside so nothing can spawn inside the fence. So invasión raids are always outside the fence and you can fight the enemy there or kite them around outside there. The invasions barely last 2 mins, so it’s not a long time for base defense. But build solid reinforced walls for base defense. For me my builds have no walls other than the sea dock that has a fenced area as part of the dock build. As soon as an invasion starts and I’m there, I get out of base and show them the business!
@@ardentdfender4116 That's what I usually do -- run outside since the mobs are attracted by the player not the structures ... I do play unmodded so I do tend to create large walls or moats just to not have to worry about it ... ;)
You can avoid massive trenches or walls and still have an area well defensible, one stone wall height is enough to prevent most mobs from getting through. Usually i tend to build on a slight hill, encircle it in a ring of stone wall, have the terrain on the inside flush with the top of the wall and terrain outside at the bottom. One stone wall is high enough to block almost all raids, but low enough to jump up so it doesn‘t inconvenience you, plus you can shoot mobs that pile up on it from the safety inside. Applicable to almost all house designs, anything that doesn‘t sit on a slope or in a ditch, looks great, and protects any fragile pretty structure as long as it‘s not in rock throwing distance lol.
I love the music you use in your videos (as well as yours builds!) What's the first song in the video, and do you have a playlist with all of them somewhere? Would love to put it on while playing :D
I can't imagine external exposed horizontal beams would be a thing any home builder in any culture across the world would consider. It may be a thing i'm not sure but it seems like a terrible idea. Does anyone know if this is something that was done as a design preference anywhere?
Hello from Australia Vetlive. I have a question for you. Do you use console commands in these builds. I notice you seem to use ladders and stuff, but you never seem to need to gather materials. Great build, by the way. My main house on my first map is similar to this design. I like the low profile. It looks like it is emerging from the landscape.
As far as I can tell he uses a command for unlimited resources and free building (not needing workbenches etc. to build), but not flying. Not sure what else
@@pfunkle I've made this build in survival, and I can tell you, it is a ***** to gather all the materials. Worth it though, pride of Einric's Landing in my community's server
Man I really hope they add a massive DLC content update for this game. It's been over a year and they've updated almost nothing of worth, only adding in a few niceties. The replay value of this game is too low currently.
Only thing that bugs me is the way you build thatched roofs; horizontal beams poking out like that would cause the roof to leak by preventing drainage down the slope and poking holes in the thatch, which isn't a problem in game but it still just looks Wrong™ and detracts from the rest of the build IMHO.
