When mining, at 3:34, just push into the wall and don't move. Then mine twice. Then push forward into the wall and repeat. This makes it perfectly straight. The first hit slightly ramps up and the second hit brings it down. Then just continue forward.
If you can't level the ground to your feet then you either have too much or too little elevation. If you have it lower no matter how many times you click, raise the ground, then flatten it, if there is always a bit left over, hit it once with the pickaxe, then use flatten ground and it will always be perfectly flat, exactly at the level of your feet.
@@Mad-Lad-Chad I kinda thought it was common sense, because it's an assumption I jumped on fairly quickly - and it's me who we're talking about, I suck at games - as soon as I saw that elevations too high or low aren't leveled out by the flattening tool. I always use the pickaxe and the raise tools first to even out the terrain before I level it.
You can stack stone on top of wood floors. You just need to support it properly, that's how I build stone bridges. And you can kinda hide logs inside on the stone to help.
When building overhangs the easiest way is to just place another floor outward, halfway over the first, then move the cursor just over the edge of the overlapping floor. It will then snap right onto the floor underneath it. :) Very useful when building over water too!
There's a far easier way to build overhangs: place a floor tile, next, place another on over the farther half of the first one, it will rest over the first one, and then point your cursor to the further half (or a bit beyond) of the second (upper) floor tile. Your 3rd floortile will snap to the outer edge of the first tile. Also: shift-click with a hoe "smoothens" ground in the clicked spot and ignores your feet level. Nice for making those smooth paths up-/down-hill
Dig a trench all around your base to get less raids. I built a trench and I've only gotten 2 raids with bats. That's it. Not sure why but a trench helps a lot.
At 6:12, you said to place wood flooring on the campfire inside ur base, why? It's perfectly fine without doing that. In fact, to me, it looks better to just have it on the stone flooring since it's a fire. I liked the windows using the iron gates, now will those keep the skeetos out if ur in the plains?😄
actually, i've found a way w/ that 3rd type of stairs if you use a vertical wood pole (the ones using the core wood) use the largest one (or multple smaller ones depending on how high you want to make it) then take the smaller horizontal pole and stack them rotating one click all the way up, then starting at the bottom pole take your stairs and make sure they snap at the top as far to the edge of the horizontal pole, and rotate the stair to match the second on up, and so on and so forth till you have the spiral stair up as far as you want.
Great tips and tricks. I can't wait to try some of them out, especially the spiral stair cases. Also, I wasn't going to subscribe until I heard the dad jokes 🤣. SUBSCRIBED!!
I go strait up to the wall and swing the pick three times. No guess work on the distance. First takes wall directly in front. Second right behind, and third removes the rise.
Like your building tips. I tried to build circles in Valheim for a while and couldn't make it look good might try what you proposed in a Video. And for the Staircase, the Beam version is BRILLIANT never have thought of that, deffinetly gonna make those in my house. Liked the dad Jokes segment too :3, It was a surprise for sure, but a wellcome one!
Put a half beam upward down first to snap a wall into the ground for support, if you cant snap something under try sitting first before trying to snap.
@@PierreChe firesparks video has ideas that smaller creators have made videos on, he didn't give them credit either, you have copyright on the video you make but not on the ideas expressed within.
Using trees is soooo outdated. If you use iron poles and cover them with normal wood poles, firstly you can build as high as you want as long as you protect your structure from rain damage. And I mean, as high as you want, you can literally reach Yggdrasil this way. And secondly, you can place stone wherever you want because they still count as iron poles, so you can place a fire at any height. Rain damage can actually destroy your structures if they're on the very edge of their stability. It doesn't damage them below 50% HP but it does lower the effective stability of decayed pieces. It's a very small decrease but it's enough if you're struggling with stability. Fortunately, any roof piece will do the job when it comes to protect your buildings. That means not only actual roofs, but also 26° and 45° poles, crosses and gables. This way you can protect your railings and walls (no alternative for floors by now)
The 3rd type of stairs is the only one I knew how to make... Is it possible to construct the "compact spiral" with core wood poles for increased height?
I killed my troll near the starting area last night. He seemed to get stuck in the water. He’s killed me several times, so I put a bunch of arrows in his face. No I feel guilty. Will he respawn?
Shooting trolls with the bow is generally the best way to fight them, preferably with no other mobs nearby. You should farm them to make troll armor and save up gold for the trader.
I love building things in video games (like Fallout 4) but I really feel like the controls for Valheim are very clunky. And honestly not very well-thought-out. My hope is that they improve this..... Soon.
Hey, what is the name of the mod that allows you to fly and build without resources? i wanted to practice building but i cant find the name of this mod.
perhaps consider planting pine trees as your major structure before starting a build. plant them where you want the main posts to be and attach your structure to it. use pine trees as they have a largely bare truck going up quite high.
@@krampusklaws2238 if you are going to avoid building because you have insufficient troll defenses, maybe consider ... i dunno, building troll defenses.
Or you can also stop abusing tree stability and reach great heights by your architect skills and not by a failure in the stability system, you know... I already hear 3M players crying when The Iron Gate fixes tree/rock abusing...

It depends if he is hosting the server ie it's a single player world normally then yea he has to be there however there are tutorials for how to create a server and if he uses one of those then as long as he doesnt shut the server down you can still play
Finicky as it is, your spiral staircase method feels *less* complicated than some of the other tutorials I've seen. I wonder though, would you need to destroy the vertical support pillar between each step if you used a 4m round wood pole instead? Seems like you should be able to just place it and snap on as needed since it's round, but haven't tried it yet.
Unfortunately there are 4 sides to those poles as I have found out when I've tried to hang stuff like sconces from them and whatnot. They look smooth, but the mesh for the object seems to still be square.
I wonder and I am sure someone saw this.. a ghost figure, a man looking like a wizard with staff in hand, in the distance while your being raided or collecting supplies. shooting has no damage, but try getting close to and puff it disappears before you get too close.. anyone know what it is for or who or what it is???? sure would like to know.. i see it almost every 2nd time i log in. and info would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
Sounds like Odin to me, havent seen him myself, but i only just started playing, but youre describing Odin for sure, Tolkien based Gandalf on Odin's appearance It makes sense too because its Odin who put us here, to test us and make us better warriors etc, makes sense he would come and evaluate now and then. Im told you can also see Thor when the lightning and thunder are rolling during a storm Now i know to look for both of them PS It sounds like really bad luck to shoot arrows at the gods
@@isty4491 well when your being raided, and see it for the first time, and not knowing what it is, I took the shot, trial and error. Thanks for your thoughts on this matter.
