Wow! They really embraced the theme! Hats off to them for pulling it off without it becoming too 'cartoony'. I loved so much about this watch the textured dial, pommel crown, the rotor, and those hands! ! Standout for me , and the 1st thing that got my attention, is that contrasting bezel - just awesome looking, like a dragons tail wrapped round it. Great review too Mike! You wear your passion for watches on your sleeve and it really comes across. Glad to see your channel(s) doing so well - its well deserved.
Really like this one, very reasonable. Wouldn't want to wear it, in case I damaged it, I'd just like to have it on my desk to look at. Checked out their website, they have/had some other fantastic watches.
Thanks for another great review Mike. I too am really impressed by the amount of detail in the watch and bracelet. I know I've said this before but it does make me wonder what we pay for in the high end brands. Some of today's micro brands really are giving them a run for their money
Thanks, a lot of effort went into producing this one as I was blown away by all the detail so wanted to convey all that to you the viewers. You are also right in what you say, if microbrands can do all this on such a small budget why are big names 1000s, thats all just cleaver marketing and peoples aspirations to have items for what they represent. With all my 100s of watches I still do not aspire to much really, I dont want a Rolex but I would like an old vintage dress one to do a repair on for a video. The only watch I have been considering is a Tudor Black bay 58 black dial with the faux patina. There is something about that watch I like but spending 3k + on a watch would be pointless for me, I wear a different watch nearly every day unless I am doing a review where I will try to wear the watch for a few days or a week on and off. So with an expensive one it would just not get any wrist time. I am happy to fish at the bottom and enjoy the process of what I can find. This Valimor has been a real delightful surprise.
What a fantastic review! When I first saw the watch I didn't like it, too fussy, but after your enthusiasm and seeing all the design elements, I really came round to it 😁 . Thank you.
I saw you post this on Watchcrunch. I think the hands have a gimmick where when they line up at 12:00.00 and they make Excalibur. The seconds is the grip, the hour is the guard, and the minute is the blade.
Sorry I'm a day late here. I'm glad you were able to review this on the bracelet, there is so much more detail to take in. The attention to detail with sticking to the theme is impressive. I'm kinda bummed with how thick it is, but I think some of that is due to the chapter ring design maybe. Overall I think you get a lot for your money on this one.
Looks good, the hands, the font, the dragon spine (asymmetric golden bezel) the sales on the dial and the detail on the bracelet (although it looks like the texture might end up scratching stuff when you rest your arm on your desk etc, but it certainly looks great). The second hand looks like a spear or lance to me which also fits the theme well. Price seems pretty reasonable for what you get, especially with only 50 of each type
Another interesting review Mike ! So different watch with a thematic, the design and details are really cool ! Timegrapher test is nice, Miyota movement have good accuracy and affordable ! As I told you in your last review, your comment and image are very good, I love it ! Thank for sharing and have a great weekend ! 🙂
"Anál nathrach, orth' bháis's bethad, do chél dénmha...." Great review! Interesting design, I like the theme, but it is really strange to see on a wrist watch. I can not decide I like it or not. Maybe just as a collectible item. Thanks for this interesting review, it was a great fun to see.
I can understand what you are saying. Seems they are selling well enough and all their previous models are sold out so although niche they have enough customers.
First off, let me get the negatives out of the way - its not to my taste, and I'm not a fan of the faux medieval mythology theme. Right, that said - I'm also really impressed by the attention to detail. I like the scalloped fumé dial, the hands (and the fleur de lys nod on the second hand in particular. I think it's *just* managed to avoid looking like everything and the kitchen sink has been thrown at it. There's definitely a risk that with scales and swords, and gold and embossing etc. it might look gaudy and cheap, but I think they've pulled it off. For the price, there's an enormous amount of work that's gone into it. I don't know how I feel about limited editions, but overall a thumbs up from me. It's nice to see something different, and nice to see a consistent design language. Well done, Valimor.
Thanks for this. Perfect reply really. Despite not liking the style you can appreciate all the work gone into it. The other colourways are interesting I thrill this is the only one that has the gold bezel.
I just subscribed. I appreciate your review. I ordered the grey dial as the blue was already sold out. I have had it now for two days. It is fantastic. I chose the metal bracelet which I'm happy to say fits great on my 7. 1/2 inch wrist with one link taken out. Mine is running about 5 seconds fast per day which I think is great. I prefer a little fast over a little slow. It just looks so cool and is quite comfortable. I'm glad I saw your video before purchasing it. It was really helpful. I forgot to comment on my first view so I came back to let you know how much I like the watch as well.
Thanks for coming back to comment. Pleased you liked this watch, in my opinion very much underrated. The views for the video were low which is a real shame. Perhaps my thumbnail? really not sure
Love this timepiece. There is an optional rubber strap btw, also with the same attention to detail. I contacted them to see if I can get a green dial now or in the future, don't dragons have green scales ????? My first time here, I really enjoyed the presentation .... and subscribed. Enjoy your cold drink :)
Yes the strap option makes them cheaper. I was not so struck on the design of the strap personally. To my knowledge from what the owner of the company said to me is that 50 of each model only and once sold they would not be making any more to keep them exclusive. Thanks for your sub it’s appreciated. Sadly this video just didn’t get the pick-up I felt it deserved.
Thank you for the thorough review. Takes me back to my youth when I used to read every David Eddings fantasy book he put out. I’m very much impressed by how great the watch looks in the macro shots.
What beautiful watch!!! Yes I'm a sub fan, however, this watch is stunning. I went to the website trying to find the weight...not shown. This watch and review hit a home run. Thanks
@@mywatchreviews Good question, but yes I had. I've been back specifically to check that. Something to do with YT algorithms and being subscribed to various different channels across different interests I suppose. I shall be looking to try to catch up with a few reviews I've missed now.
Links... Reminds me, I'll go to the local watchmaker here in Zwolle, when I get my link, he just did a great job on my Pulsar 2001 too, replacing the glass, for only 15€ even.. Don't want to scratch my San martin :) Old watchmaker, last of the watch Mohicans kind of mini shop.. Just found it. He's had the shop for 40 years already.. He liked the San Martin too: "it's an automatic?".
For some this is one they would wear as it’s a style they like. Plenty of people into this genre plus all their other models have sold out so they have a nice niche customer base by the looks of it. It was nice to see something totally original with so many design aspects. In the flesh it’s pretty good. I think I will drop it onto a strap at some point to see how much that will tone it down. Had this been star wars or some kind of space theme it would be a sell out instantly
The owner of this brand was not happy with a review and asked for it to be changed. He said the majority of utube reviews are paid for. I would not touch it.
I don’t know where you get that info from. I will check with the brand owner. I was not paid, I am never paid for a review . You get to keep the watch but then unless you sell you don’t make money. I have it in my collection as I like it. My review is my honest opinion and no influence from the company .
I'm pretty sure these watches will be the hit if you attend a fantasy convention, but I don't see that this is wearable on a day-to-day basis. For me, it just looks to much like a toy.
Thanks for watching all the same, I’d disagree with the toy comment. It will never be for everyone but to produce this many features requires good design and the ability to make it on cost.
This just proves to me I am a defective watch fan. If they had a quartz version that was +/- 15 sec a month I would be all over it but +/- 15 sec a DAY! What is the point? 2 millenia of time history relentlessly pushed towards more accuracy until quartz then screw accuracy. It makes no sense.
It’s well known that the cheapest of quartz will be more accurate than the most expensive mechanical but that’s not the point. The magic is in a little machine on your arm that is powered by a spring , an idea that’s been around for centuries now and that is what most of us like the most. If you want tech then a smart watch is all you need now as it’s more accurate than quartz. Gets its measurements from the atomic clock .
Then I need to come to your shop. I realise this is not for everyone but the materials used with the level I design I feel should be applauded. At least this brand is not copying anything else which more or less is what most big and small brands are doing.
You serious, guy? Are you aware how easy it would be for me to have a Chinese watch manufacture scratch up and produce something similar within months or less? Easily manfactured custom rotor on a generic movement? Lol. It's appalling. Looks like a cringe Affliction branded watch, or worse, an Invicta. Nothing needs to be applauded.@@mywatchreviews
Well guy, put your money where your mouth is and have one produce with the same specs and attention to details and I will buy 10 of them for 40.00$ each. It is your chance of becoming rich...
Well that's your view and not mine, I will respect your view all the same as this review is my personal opinion and nothing more. Its funny now people comment on how easy it is for the Chinese to knock things like this up. Trust me they would not tool up for a watch that is not for the masses that is why they copy most popular designs. I know a thing or two about manufacturing and also in China as its part of my day job and its all about numbers and volume. The carving on the chapter ring for instance has been done on a laser, not cheap injection molding. Things like this have a cost. You don't like the watch that is obvious but I do not agree with you that it would be easy to have this made in China.
