What the hell? Did she think Squad E was having a fucking picnic in the mountains? Squad E's had to contend with not only Imperial ambushes, a persistent Imperial commander, and a fucking blizzard that was killing their soldiers.
A key depot whose destruction would have heavily crippled a large scale invasion the Empire had planned for Gallia which probably helped the Gallians come out on top in the first game. What was Squad E going to do anyways? They would have gotten picked off like Squad F, if Minerva wants to be angry fine. But she should direct her anger at the people that who were responsible for killing her Sqaud instead of crying like a little bitch at the nearest guy she could blame.
@@warboss4951 We literally do not know the effect the destruction of the depot had on the Empire at all, we just assume it had a huge effect when there is nothing to prove it. For all we know Squad E's attack had a minimal effect on the invasion of Gallia. As for what they could have done, we can't know it as we don't really know how many imperials attacked the Ranger Corp. Squad E could have been the difference or they could have died like the rest. What we do know is that Squad E delayed its arrival and almost the entire Ranger Corp was wiped out. So based on the events Minerva is more than justified to be mad at Squad E.
I get they’re trying portray Minerva grieving but god damn she is unbearable. What did she expect being out in the middle of an open icy/snowy field with no cover while they have the Imps elite tank force hunting them down. Worst commander ever.
Hate to be that guy, but the death of Minerva's comrades is on her. The first rule of leadership is that everything is your fault, and you need to take responsibility when things go wrong. Minerva was responsible for the well-being of everyone in her squad and so she has to carry the guilt of their deaths, not shift the blame onto a guy who didn't even know any better. Besides, up until now, Minerva wouldn't shut up about how superior she was to Claude and how she saw Squad E as less than human, so I don't see how she thinks them being there would have made a difference.
Squad E took a detour in the mountains to destroy an imperial base and because of that they arrived late so she is not wrong for calling them out. In the story they specifically address that point before the depot mission.
@@lordkfc1297 But even Squad E had arrived on time, they'd probably just have been obliterated with the rest of them, which would leave the operation with no chance of success.

Ok I’m actually glad I’m not the only one that feels this way, like I get what Minerva is going through, I understand that she’s grieving and that she’s supposed to be the tsundere archetype. However the fact that Minerva is placing all the blame on squad e when they were already far behind fighting off the enemy, does she think that Claude has been on vacation this whole time, like what did she want them to do show so they can die alongside squad f, this is why I have a hard time liking Minerva is because this scene and what she almost did by the end of the game where she basically she has no respect for how hard the war is on everyone else but her and that everything has to be Claude’s fault.
What could they have done, They are only about 15 soldiers and a tank. If Anime Erwin Rommel took out your squad (more like a battalion) What is a few extra guys and a SINGLE Medium tank gonna do in an OPEN FIELD with NO COVER against the equivalent of an ACE HEAVY Tank DIVISION made up of the CREAM OF THE CROP of the Empires FINEST ELITES? Btw Im not taking some BS plot armor into account because no real person would count that in an actual battle
By Minerva's own admission, Claude is the superior commander and Squad E the superior company. Sure, maybe that wouldn't have mattered, but ultimately we will never know because Squad E wasn't there at all thanks to the unsanctioned raid of the supply depot they stumbled across.
@@Skynightburst Unsanctioned as in he didn't talk to the rest of the companies or to command about it and getting approval. They just did their own thing.
@@Skynightburst No time to get approval? Perhaps, but it can still be argued the time spent taking out the depot was time they weren't spending regrouping with Squad E, contributing to the massacre. In the end, we'll never know if the outcome could have been different.
I wish they made us see how Minerva and Ronald survived because it wouldn't make sense if Ronald survived along with his Gallian tank since it would be one of the top targets for the Ausbruch attack yes I know the developers were trying to make it a lot like VC1 where you get a Gallian tank mid game but they could of countered this by giving you a Marine tank like a Federation light tank to give an extra main battle tank for the Federation Arsenal instead of the standard Federate tank since that would literally be a second Hafen
A question I have is that I see lots of the characters in my game but one. The girl with the metal mask/helmet. She’s not in a single cutscene.......why is that?
Pluto She's not story important, so the in-game cutscenes use generic soldiers in case she dies. There are a few exceptions, like in this case, where some soldiers are semi-randomly replaced by your living squad members.
Because A. I doubt they would have hit them from that range, B, because he's trying to get a clear shot ... And C because their the main characters.... Plus the snow Cruisers decimated them.
Probably because if they tried to fire from that range, then they would miss almost every shot thus wasting ammo. In the actual gameplay, tanks have to be either very close or very lucky to hit their target.
@@vampragon4386 I'd like to add to the discussion where upon we know for a fact that they are fighting on the frozen sea. They could have bombarded the surrounding area and made them fall into the sea by shattering the ice. And don't pretend that if this wasn't the main characters, this kinda plan wouldn't have worked. VC is full of improbable and idiotic plans like this. I'm just using the same logic. Otherwise those ice ships that ripped the ice in front of Squad E would have destroyed the ice around them and killed them. But they just had to give that sick establishing shot of that battle ship parking right in front of them and nothing happened.
I too, am kinda pissed off at Claude. They took a detour to blow up a supply depot to harm the Empire's advance on Gallia (did that do anything at all?) only to leave Squad F pratically defenseless. The Empire's troops must've left because they assumed they were the remaining forces. They came back as soon as they realized it. Though on the hand, if Squad E had arrived at the same time, both squad would've been decimated so... yeah, sorry for Minerva and for Claude. But still that's a big FU to Claude...
However, after a few viewings, I noticed that it wasn't a good idea for Minerva to shout when enemy troops were still roaming around picking off survivors from Operation Northern Cross. Even if Claude was the gettin' the sh** he deserved!
Gotta disagree; I mean I admit I only did 2 play throughs (had get more character stories and that true end) back on release .. but from what I recall it also wasnt a very good idea to 'wait' in a flat open area no cover etc.. nor battle in one (IE scatter your troops and retreat) . Squad E being there 'on time' would have just meant more loses; its implied it did do damage to their supply lines (if you wipe out or damage munitions and rail lines IE the logistics whatever battle group they are for can't do much fighting unless you want to want to use the weapons as blunt objects and your tanks as non firing shields. But regardless they fully expected that they could have been left behind and likely doomed (Squad E) which squad F would have done orders are orders. But come now who waits in effectively enemy territory wide in the open for an escort out without first seeing said escort (if you can't use comms with them)? The real blame lies on the 'Navy' for being about a day late. Not on Claude for not having his 1 tank blown up and more fallen under supplied infantry. But no E didn't leave F Defenseless - their position and the 'Navy' did.
I think Minerva was partially overreacting by blaming Claude because she felt guilty for Squad F’s demise. Still though Claude’s decision to attack the depot always felt very iffy for me. Sure he is Gallian himself, but he is currently serving the Federation. He was putting his non-Gallian squadmates at risk for an attack that was not ordered nor in the Federation’s interest. Maybe you could say that it would have indirectly benefited the Federation because it was an attack at an Imperial target, but it really just felt like an unprofessional move based on his private ties to Gallia rather than a military necessity.
Do note. The Gallians are who ended the war. I'd imagine a supply line delay contributed to Squad 7's success. Imagine the first mission in 1 but the invading force had better weapons and gear. Alicia and Welkin would be fked.
@@sirwence9949 I got to agree with Sir Wence with this one. Even if Claude tried something differently, it doesn't change the fact that the Federation Navy too makes mistakes, so not all the blame should be shoved on Claude. Squad E doesn't even have enough manpower or tank power what the massarce Squad F suffered. Minerva assumes too much of the what ifs. How about what happens if Squad E were there, would it be enough. If not, Squad E was dead with Squad F. And that of their opposition who mowed them down, what exactly did they have that overpowered Squad F?
