@@arbynChief617 No, definitely seems like it's packing voltage, not chemicals. From the toggle amping up, to the shocking sound and the way he shakes on the ground. Definitely seems like a shocker to me mate.
@@sirpompom2295 There’s no electricity and it’s more of a neurotoxin because you can see his veins turn dark under his skin. They’re supposed to be obedience disks and in the comics, they’re capable of subduing the Silver Surger
I think the single greatest tragedy in the MCU is the acting/directing decision to have Thor act like he's getting electrocuted whenever the obedience disc is triggered. Because now we are forever plagued with "DiD tHe GoD oF tHuNdEr JuSt GeT tAkEn DoWn WiTh ElEcTrIcItY?!?!" comments.
Don't try to make those comments sound dumb. From the idea of the device itself to the electrical effects and the direction of the actor, it's all ridiculously stupid.
@@joaomarcos2089 you can clearly see that the device releases a neurotoxin. Its not just a taser. So its kinda stupid when people claim it is. The only bad decision by the mcu was making thor act like he was getting electrocuted, but I don't really kno whow someone will act which getting a deadly, alien tech neurotoxin released inside their veins.
@@greenlemonboy9762 There are films from the 1940s and after, where live subjects are shown responding to neurotoxins such as poisonous gases. Spasms do occur.
They really go back & forth with Thors strength. One minute he's unstoppable, bashing his way through entire armies. The next minute he's made utterly helpless by a charged net or a neck zapper.
And also, though it's unclear, I read in the comments that it's not a "neck zapper". It's not necessarily shocking him, but is scrambling his nerves, making him immobile.
Yeah, it's almost like the fights aren't decided by the power levels alone, but the circumstances and environment, as well as the current physical/mental status of the person!
Major props to the lone guy who saw all the members of his group get decimated, and still had the stones to take Valkyrie on in solo combat. That's likely why she didn't kill him.
@@SensibleApproach At around 1:37 you can see extremely clearly that Valkyrie throws a disc onto Thor's neck that contains the toxin, and his veins distinctly bulge indicating it's a toxin. You're saying "oh you want to act smart watch the movie", but you say "net & laser beam inject neurotoxin", showing it was you who didn't watch the movie. Moron 😂😂
Honestly they went a little too heavy on the comedy for me in this one. But seeing her come out of the ship like a badass and then just fall of the bridge was funny as hell
It's a comedy movie my dude. Pretty much all Taika Waititi movies are boderline parodies, you can't watch a comedy movie expecting It not to be heavy on comedy. That'd be like watching Mission Impossible and not expecting It to be heavy on action.
When she first encounters Thor, Valkyrie tells the Scrappers, "He's mine. So if you want him, you go through me". When the Scrappers refuse to give him up, she says, "Alright then, I guess I go through you". A similar scenario and dialogue exchange occurs in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) in the prison where Rocket Raccoon tells the other prisoners, "This one here's our booty! You wanna get to him, you go through us! Or more accurately, we go through you!!"
For all those who commending here about thor being zapped by electricity !!! Its a neuro toxin administered by the device called the obedience disk which is mentioned in the comics as well as planet hulk animated movie , it was capable of holding the hulk and beta ray bill at bay !!!
and? this device needs electricity to work. thor is god of thunder. he can easily destroy it by overloading it with thunder power. this film is stupid. not to mention if this device is so powerful, they could use it to kill hela, instead of destroying their planet.
@@alicjaalvena1120 At that point in the film Thor felt disenfranchised about losing his father and his hammer believing he can't really do much without it after letting his father die and losing to Hela hence why he couldn't use his powers properly only able to get sparkles at some charges of electricity in his fight vs Hulk. So really it's about him not really in the right state of mind to think and destroy the disk.
I've read Planet Hulk, and it still seemed dumb there. I think it makes more sense that it should work on Hulk, whose powers are organic, but on magical and cosmic beings like Silver Surfer it is absurd. But at least it didn't look like a little machine powered by electricity and whose mechanism of action was also based on it. Thor could have fried it with his lightining.
We didn't watchwatch this movie for the dramatic and heart stopping moments.... we needed a good laugh after several tragic events. This was AWESOME!! ...AND ... who wouldn't want to have a great weekend with this cast.
When you think of Thor's biggest defeats you think of him falling to kill Thanos before the snap or having his hammer destroyed. But it should be how the God of Thunder was electrocuted multiple times in this movie.
The last part of the clip is kinda poetic. Valkyries were known to carry fallen norse warriors onto Valhalla. But here she's dragging a near unconscious fallen god into slavery.
All the people here going “Why did the god of thunder get knocked out by electricity?” 1: He’s just lost his hammer and thinks he’s weaker. Just after this is the god of sparkles scene. 2: It’s supposed to be ironic. Thor’s greatest power being used against him.
Scenes like this always makee wonderr how nobody knows about guanlets that let you control guns on a ship like nobody knew those existed or had an idea of what she was trying to do . Like imagine them trying to run and his saying the name of what shes about to use is that a ...ah it's broken .couple of them running trying to hid .others still walking up on her she gets a little nervous and boom starts blasting. They fail to realize the emotions and reactions of other characters really makes a scene .
Hey! I have an excellent casting idea! Instead of a proud and fierce Nordic woman warrior, lets make the last of the Valkyries a self destructive Hispanic lesbian!
You've seriously got to admire the balls/stupidity/death wish of that last guy. All his tribe just shot down in seconds and he still charges her by himself.
@@elfinstuff8934 The first two films had to be serious as they had to move the overarching plot along and establish main characters. Now all the main cast is established they can riff off each other. Like Loki yelling "that's how it feels!" wouldn't have worked two movies ago but now it does. The in-joke humour is the benefit and pay off of fans watching ten years of MCU Universe. If the films didn't have any humour at this point it would be weird.
I'm glad I never got into the comics, following the movies and not having that dissonance between established comic book characters and who they cast and the direction that is taken with the film characters makes it easier to enjoy the film IMO.
The God of thunders down with a mini futuristic taiser. The writer was high? Can't wait for God of see, Captured because he fall in a swimming pool for children, just 30cm height.
@@ohmaplaymaker to be fair in the first thor movie he was actually depowered, like his powers were actually taken. In this movie he still supposedly has his powers. Still great movie but weird plot hole to think about lol
If you look at Planet Hulk, you'll see these are obedience discs. They have almost cosmic levels of power. I think they're probably connected to your heart, nervous system etc by some seriously invasive alien technology.
as i remember, when i watch this movie on the cinema the vfx is far better... now when i rewatch again on youtube or tv, its very mind blowing how the effects is far below that....
@Mikirin 123 Well thunder is the sound that lighting makes. So you are technically right. But there is no difference between a lighting bolt and electricity. In fact, a lighting bolt is far stronger than any electric shock produced by small devices. So it makes less sense for Thor to be immune to his huge thunder bolts but the small shocks take him out.
@@zarrstroglutt2346 How do you explain the electric sound effects and Thor's body being tensed up exactly like someone being electrocuted? It sounds like people pointed out how stupid it is that Thor got electrocuted and someone called it neurotoxin as an excuse after the fact.
I mean seriously, why the hell they made sakaar look so cartoonish and overcoloured. This look so fake as the VFX and CGI are really bad.And these bad guys are looking like villians from any power rangers series, even the ship of valkyrie looks like a megazord.Thor Ragnarok was highly overrated in these feilds.
Man, that last guy. She just murdered all of his friends that he spends his days with in an instant, at first it looks like he’s running from fear but he’s really running out of anguish and shock to kill this person who just took away his family.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that Taika and the MCU had some ulterior motive behind belittling and humiliating a beloved norse religious figure so relentlessly..
It's called proper character development. He lost everything, became a depressed mess, then grew stronger out the other end. You know, a story that many people can relate to? Or are you hinting at some SJW conspiracy?
@@blusafe1That's not the issue, that arc battling thru loss and depression is great however it's the narrative downplaying as a joke, Wanda goes thru a similar phase like Thor yet not a single moment had other characters mocking the situation nor the tone being set like a sitcom, why should Thor's be treated any different? Doesn't seem real fair.
I think that the net they shot at Thor and trapped him was made entirely of obedience disks which is why he could not get out of it. So, Valkyrie was drunk that is why she decided to use her ship's weapons instead of her fighting skills she does come prepared everytime.
Ah yes, the human trafficer. How many females did she do this to? She started before Thor. How old is he supposed to be? Such a caring person too. Couldn't believe Thor trusted his people to her. What will the place look like when he gets home. Oops.
@@TheRailLeaguerEh not really she's still a snarky alcoholic she just doesn't have a need for Grandmaster to buy it anymore. And Thor should be leading Asgard because he's heir to the throne and his whole arc was about being a proper king. Valkyerie literally has no experience nor any leadership skills, she is better off as maybe a bodyguard or army lieutenant or commander like Lady Sif was. She just needs therapy to not get PTSD alcoholism again and she's set.
@@dewolf123 Thor decided not to be the king anymore and Sif would probably have no idea how to lead the people of New Asgard given that she too was gone in the five years the Asgardians were in New Asgard. In contrast, Valkyrie does have some experience in leadership in which she was the interim leader of New Asgard while Thor was out of commission. Not to mention that people change.
@@TheRailLeaguer No they don't nor can't, only in fiction they only do because they are not real and can be written differently when writers feel like it.
