Having not played the franchise at all prior, God of War (2018) was one of the most engrossing, emotional, and enjoyable video game stories I have experienced probably ever. One of the best parts of the game was the magnificent, meticulous, and ethnically rich score Bear McCreary crafted that remains one of the best video game scores I've ever heard.
Some of the most difficult, entertaining, and tragic bosses in the game, warriors of Valhalla cast aside and imprisoned by Odin. Their theme utilizes beautiful, sorrowful vocals singing about their reign, accompanied by bombastic and intense drums and other war-like instruments, giving such tragic and beautiful figures the edge and grandeur they deserve.

The Valkyries were something special. The new Berserkers were never going to surpass them. I'm glad we got some more of them in Ragnarok aswell

Yeah I didn’t enjoy them any where near as much valkyries are still a much better endgame boss. I enjoyed fighting each Valkyrie the berserkers for me felt more like an annoying side quest

Yep since they did not even get their own music score…plus hrolf was easy compared to sigrun or Gna. Plus the valkyries were a bit more dynamic since they aren’t all locked up in a room. You may be in agony in niflheim and whoops you found a valkryie haha srsly fuck ivaldi’s workshop I hate that place so much

@@NateDdragon I do not think it is fair to compare the two. Niflheim’s role in the 2nd game is different from the first. But Ivaldi’s workshop still sucks cause of its repetitive and slog nature. Compare it to the Vanaheim crater area where you get late game resources which is THE BEST PLACE IN THE GAME. Like you get the late game resources by EXPLORING not for doing the same boring shit over and over again.

@@nathanieljefferies5491 that “same boring shit” actually gave us good chests while the raven chests suck if you do them post game. also, the dragon fight when fighting the raven keeper was lazy imo. i 100% the game, and i can say that the vanaheim crater/jungle was handled very well, but imagine what we would have if all realms were maximized. imagine if fenrir wasn’t blocking the worst mission in the game? we could explore more of jotunheim, but what did we get? A FLOWER. helheim also felt like a throwaway realm just for kratos and atreus to reunite. mimir brings up the fact that hrasvelgr wants to retire, but there’s no favor to help her. what if we could some giant creature to replace her (not fen because he’s too precious)? i honestly wished there was a mystic gateway in the realm travel room routes so we can go back to those places. imagine ivaldi’s workshop on ice? ice mist slows you down instead of killing you slowly, maybe? what about old muspelheim trials? what if gondul was replaced with gná?

I love how poetic the Valkyries are, like fallen angels you are setting free. They really didn't disapoint with their designs and nothing matches in other interpretations.

Let’s be honest… Sigrun coming out of a realm tear to drag Kratos viciously while screaming is one of the most badass starts to ANY boss fight!

Agreed, when i first heard it i just fell in love instantly, it has that sad kind of quality to it cause of what happened to the Valkyries all cause Odin is a Narcissitic, selfish greedy heartless little shit

I’ll very likely be using this suite for the Abbot in my Curse of Strahd D&D game, it’s (in my opinion) one of the best blends of celestial song and vengeance I’ve ever come across; quite possibly the best.
