I remember my first ferry boat ride 31 years ago. We took a ferry boat ride to Alcatraz. It was a lot of fun. When my mother was living, I convinced her and my stepfather to take a ferry boat ride and she has never been on before. She was a little frightened but I convinced her that she would like it. Well, she loved it and wanted to go again. My stepfather loved it too. They went at least three or four times on the ferry boat and fell in love with it.
Before I retired I was one of those many commuters taking this ferry to the city. Can’t tell you how convenient the snack and beverage bar was on a late Friedan afternoon :). Oh, another fun fact about the Mare Island strait: apart from being the mouth of the Napa River, it’s also a site for releasing salmon hatchlings every year, with the goal of adult salmon returning to spawn up river or to continue along the Carquinez Strait towards the American or Sacramento rivers to spawn there.
Miss the ferryboat commute to & from the City. Was the true highlight after employment of 30 years from City&County of San Francisco. I only wished Vallejo was able to keep it things changed so much after take over by WETA,
An no San Francisco Bay Ferry has not operated the ferries since 1999. City Of Vallejo should be given credit for that. As far as this video is concerned yes it's nice. Though still since the creation of the new so called expanded SF Bay Area ferry service has not yet lived up to that expectation. Nor has WETA. Water Emergency Transit Authority.
Interesting trip, that’s what is nice about SFO lot’s of things to do. Too bad the city is going through the trama of the homeless plague right now. Been there a few times enjoyed it a lot. Thank you for posting this nice video enjoyed it a lot.
You can board with a Clipper Card or get one before boarding. Sadly Vallejo Ferry Terminal's ticket office now closed. I was told there is a vending machine where tickets can be purchased. Also one way fares might be purchased on the ferry too.
