Valli Arunachalam strives against patriarchal systems to get a board seat in the Murugappa group 

Valli Arunachalam and Shanu Hinduja, are both being blocked by male members of powerful business families, Murugappa and Hindujas respectively, from taking a more active role in their companies. In some Indian societies however, the matrilineal system prevailed that placed women on a higher status than men, at least in terms of inheritance.
