They technically could’ve included a spoiler for Sunstreaker. When they did Legacy Breakdown, they designed his spoiler to be compatible with that mold, but I guess the complication would be making only *that part* from the Breakdown mold.
Reportedly the spoiler was left off to avoid problems with Lamborghini. The Go Better set was great for the first release of the Sunstreaker mold. No idea if the yellow will match here, but maybe they'll do a reissue.
The main reason I considered this a great value is because I don’t already own these figures in their previous releases and it saves me from hunting down each character individually, which saves me a lot of money.
If I had a nickel for great transformers reviewers I watch reviewing this 5-pack today, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
Another reason why it took Hound so long to be released was because Target apparently chickened out on releasing Hound as part of their _Buzzworthy Bumblebee Studio Series 86_ line due to their second wave of _Buzzworthy Bumblebee_ Deluxe Class figures selling poorly. It was also why they chickened out on _Studio Series_ DOTM Hatchet as well.
@@pat1r1ck glad someone knows what I’m talking about cause one customer literally had a heart attack after leaving the restaurant while waiting for his bus, that may be wrong cause I haven’t checked its Wikipedia page in a while
Not only is it a good value for what you get by retail standards, but when you factor in the "sell multiple organs" prices trailbreaker and sunstreaker go for today it's even better
This pack is fantastic, both in terms of getting these molds as these characters for a reasonable price (i missed most of them except Earthrise Wheeljack) but also for the improved build quality of no transparent plastic
I have not yet purchased this set and don't know that I will. I have not had the clear plastic cracking issue with these figures and I hate the baby blue windows (black, darker blue, silver I would have been better with). And while I want that Hound mold I'd much prefer a toy accurate deco in darker green with gold (rather than yellow) decos. That said, I'm glad they are giving fans 2nd (or third or fourth) shots at these toys.
Regarding wrist swivels, if Hasbro would use ball joints for flipping in fists instead of the pin? Then there would be wrist swivels. I feel like of using a ball joint would improve articulation, it should be used.
I have the Sunstreaker mold in Spinout and love it, but haven't dipped on Sunstreaker because of the paint mismatch. Win Jazz, love the mold, love the look, hate the clear plastic. Win Trailbreaker, have not owned the mold but want to, just haven't had the chance to grab him. And the charcoal looks much better than the gloss black to me. Win Wheeljack is a deliciously bright white after the bone colored original version of the mold. Gonna get the Toyhax kit for all of these so Jacky won't look plain after that. Win Siege Hound was one of my favorite figures in my collection for the engineering and proportions, sold it off when we first got pics of this guy. Needless to say, I'm gonna be real excited to get him in hand. Win And the fact that I'm getting all of these for cheaper than they would be at individual retail? Win
On multi packs I found the creatures collide pack on sale in canada, the main figure was ransack due to chopshop/barrage being released soon, venom being leaked for the next prime line, and there isn’t any news on ransack being released outside of this pack so I grabbed it on sale. Skywasp is kingdom waspinator in purple/black but it’s still nice, the scorponok is mid that kingdom version looks good in the toy colours but isn’t a very solid deluxe, then goldbug eh its the ER cliffjumper in gold. If your someone who’s a fan of the deluxe insecticons id recommend getting this on sale cause a ransack separate release could be much later on if you don’t wanna wait like over a year
Ya know what they need to do? A pack like this, but using the Siege designs... So Siege colors/designs of Wheeljack, Jazz, Bee, Hound, and Sunstreaker. Then we could get a Decepticon 5-pack of Deluxes (Starscream, Shockwave, Soundwave, Reflector, and either Barricade or Ravage) in Siege designs/colors, and a special Voyager or Leader class 2 pack of Siege Optimus and Megatron.
Really excited for this and the Decepticon 3 pack as I literally missed all of these the first time around. Despite subtle differences, the plastic change/durability/improved Q/C make this well worth the purchase. Love how the review begins with the immediate reminder that these really are just kids toys and shouldn't be taken too seriously despite what they cost. I too am guilty of this when they seemingly start cluttering up my desk surface and I haphazardly toss them into a bin.
honestly i half considered buying it for the vibrant purple of Shockwave, and hopefully the non yellowing of soundwave. though i am waiting to see what the leader soundwave actually is first.
Tbh if i were to get this pack I would only get it for Trailbreaker, Hound and Sunsteaker. I have '86 Jazz and i haven't countered the issues of the yellowing and the cracks at all and i have the Netflix version of Wheeljack and haven't encountered any issues with it since i got it all the way back in 2021 along with Netflix Optimus Prime
Idk what’s everyone’s deal with clear plastic. I can only think of one issue with clear plastic breaking that I’ve had in the last decade. Pretty much everything I have with clear plastic is fine. Some people must ham handle everything.
This set was an instant pre-order for me. I only had 1 of the 5 already, and it's 86 Jazz, which I like, but the clear plastic worries me about its longevity.
(Kinda) hot take; Clear windshields are terrible, they either show off all the ugly guts of the figure or cause structural issues as designers will make large chunks of the figure out of clear plastic and they dont look as good or as lively as painted windshields
agreed. while you NEED to choose a good color, a nicely painted screen will look better than a clear plastic one unless is STATIC clear plastic, like in the original Nitro Override figure, where is just a big block
You know to me instead of wheeljack they should have replace him with prowl cause prowl despite needed a new figure cause his earthrise became rare cause the pandemic and the only way he could get him was 86 damage version of him
Controversial opinion, I hate the allspark blue windshields, if we had to omit clear plastic I would have preferred solid black. HOWEVER, this set is just too perfect to pass up over windshields, and the toyhax set fixes my biggest complaint so win-win.
@@fennekin1750well at least for me. The color choice and lack of details on Wheeljack remind me of Earthspark figures, especially compared to the painting these figures originally had.
@@prokeikas7284 Well, his colors are improved tenfold from last time. If you want some more details, then Toyhax would probably be able to help. Everyone else is very good, & Toyhax would probably be able to help with them too, if you want more details for the others, as well.
It’s a good thing I don’t have a single current generations figure for ANY of these characters. I have gen. Select Siege Hot Shot, Exhaust & Slicer, and Legacy Knockout; I don’t have any version of the ER Hoist/Trailbreaker mold, or the ER Sunstreaker mold.
i had none of these characters before getting this pack and holy crap they're all so good. Sunstreaker and Jazz are tied for my favourites of this pack, and even the weakest (Wheeljack) is solid imo.
The upcoming Target "Cliffjumper vs." pack is an incredible value here in the States - $79.99 for three deluxes and a voyager. Usually deluxes are $25 and voysgers $35 down here.
The set retails for $250 here in Australia. So basically $120 price increase on retail cost. $155 if you count the original retail price these were on original release. Methinks Hasbro AU priced it higher because they knew it would sell, like with Omega Prime. Boy am I glad I'm skipping this one.
I dont think it's Hasbro themselves that's the reason for the high prices in Australia, our country has a huge price gouging problem. Even Hasbro where annoyed by EB's retail price of Omega Prime and launched an investigation.
Hasbro US looked into that, not Hasbro AU. That's like saying "we looked into ourselves and found nothing wrong". The response from all stores has been pretty consistent. EB, JB, Gamesmen and Popcultcha have all stated it is a Hasbro issue. There is a price gouging issue going on, but it's not on the store side.
US Price is $110. Maybe somehow get it shipped if you really wanted to get the set for cheaper? Just a suggestion, nothing more. I personally love this set & I missed out on everyone but Jazz. & everyone in the pack look GREAT, so its an easy pickup for me.
Great review. You mentioned that it would’ve been nice if the substreaker came with the spoiler. I agree. I think there’s a good possibility that they could’ve used legacy breakdowns spoiler. I believe the peg holes are the same distance apart.
@@Goldtendo27 What abt the tampos? Whats the point in painting the white, if you could maybe just grab 5-pk Jack & paint the tampos on or use stickers (Toyhax, etc)?
I never got any of the original releases except for Wheeljack but its the Siege model & Siege Wheeljack still white & fully painted unlike the 5 Pack model. I mainly bought it for Jazz & Hound cuz I found out original SS 86' Jazz wasnt fully painted either plus the translusent windshield sucked so this one is a dealbreaker. I always wanted Hound to complete my set & now hes here. It sucked that ur Jazz cant connect properly in vehicle mode, mine doesnt have that issue so u should message Hasbro & see wat they say
I get thag anywhere outside of the US is price fucked, but we still get value pack here. Based on how the pricing is done here for deluxe and voyagers, all of the Target 4 packs include a free figure.
Wheeljack could use Toyhax help... but I'll wait to see if they make specific labels for this version and not use the older ones... My SS86 Jazz didn't yellowed or cracked... Wich is weird, cause my Nemesis Prime, my Dinobot, my Rhinox, Cyclonus, Tigatron, and cyberverse Arcee yellowed a lot... I love this trend of removing the clear plastic. Sure, looks more toyish, but is what they are... toys. I prefer this instead of breakages and seeing robot mangled parts through the window... Windows and windshields should be either inserts or opaque. Maybe instead of baby blue, maybe use black? Anyway, hope they stop using clear plastic for full pieces... specially articulated ones...
If I didn't already have and like the original versions of Sunstreaker, Jazz, Trailbreaker and Wheeljack, I'd probably also consider this good value... I'm less of a toon-accuracy fan, though, and not a fan of the bright blue windows. As such, I just sourced a second Detritus instead to paint up as Hound...
