Just received a quote for my Honda Accord v6..Northwest Florida $529. The Kit from Fel Pro Rock Auto is 20.79 with all items needed for repair. Thanks for the Video
Shorter and more concise than videos which are twice as long. Good tips and methods to watch out for. Nice explanations and format / editing. I have a 2010 V6 Accord with 180K on it, and I'm preparing to do it this spring / summer. I like your method of tapping out the rings from the top instead of prying from the bottom, use of channel locks for removal and install of those bolt ring thingies and your use of sealant at the corners of the gaskets.
@@ThePullUpKing I still haven't done it, but I'm gonna. I just turned 200k and I plan on doing it soon Q1: Is it easy to find the torque values online? Q2: The 8th gen V6 s is prone to fouling plugs as a result of the VCM. Do you have any knowledge of the effectiveness of the aftermarket VCM limiter which keeps all 6 cylinders running continuously? Q3: Do you have any tips that would help make this engine last another 100k plus? Thanks, Dave in Ohio
@@Jrhortian I didn't do it yet, but I'm still putting 700+ miles on every week. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the valve cover gaskets replacement will affect the oil on the plugs. The fouling of the plugs is caused by the VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) which alternates between shutting down 2 alternating pairs of cylinders while at moderate RPMs (not climbing, not accelerating.) As a result, oil collects in the 2 non-firing cylinders and causes 4 of the plugs to get gunked up. There is an electronic VCM tuner module which will disable this feature. I read that it doesn't make much difference in MPGs. Haven't installed it yet. I replaced my plugs quite a while ago with the NGK laser iridium. I suspect that they were developed for this type of problem, but I can't know for sure. They seem to be less prone to fouling out. In the meantime, I just make sure I drive it somewhat aggressively once it has reached full operating temperature to keep oil from building up in the VCM cylinders while keeping the full synthetic oil level topped off. The engine light doesn't bother me. I had 4 out of 6 gunked up as well back when I did it. I really don't know, I might be wrong. Will the valve cover gaskets and seals replacement prevent oil from entering the ignition chambers? (I'm not a pro mechanic)
Hey man. Nice video. But I have questions about the gasket. Why did you just apply only in the corners? Is it better put all the way around it? And do you put the sealant rtv on the cover first or after you put the gasket? Just curious sir. Thank you for this video!
Thanks! Those are the areas where oil will leak if sealant isn't applied. The gasket will seal the other areas. If the gasket doesn't stay in place, apply the sealant lightly, to hold the gasket to the cover.
Yes it was a lot easier watching this video cuz I seen some videos installing this I have an Acura I have to do is a 2001 doing the same thing thank you appreciate it and sharing this
Thanks man. I appreciate you watching! Gasket sealant www.autozone.com/sealants-glues-adhesives-and-tape/sealant/p/permatex-ultra-black-rtv-silicone-maximum-oil-resistance-gasket-maker-0-5-oz/415412_0_0?vehicleId=4767601
I’ve been trying to remove the cover for about an hour and it won’t budge. I got the left side up but the right side by where all the coolant lines are at, it’s just not budging for me. Any suggestions?
Hey man maybe you can help me with my issue, i was removing my pcv valve and it broke. Everything came off except the very end of it. You think if I remove the front valve head I can push it out from the inside?
@@ThePullUpKing also im trying to replace my rear vvt solonoid PN(15820-R70-A05), do you have any videos on that but this same exact car? ive already changed the sensors many times code still comes up, so now i have to replace whole piece. or do you have any tips on replaceing it, i cant seem to find a video on youtube.
no hate but I did this and it leaked after 2000 miles really really bad. the gasket sealer you used is from harbor freight, I used that same exact kind also, and it is not what you want. You want Hondabond OEM sealer, OR permatex ultra-grey/copper. I had to redo this job on my car bc of this wrong stuff.
Nah bruh you just didn't seal it properly. Lol My job ain't leak, so I know that's just ya opinion. I been doing this since 11th grade man. No hate. Check ya work.
💀🤣🤣 But u on my channel, talking bout do ya homework.🤣 I said what tf I said. You didnt do the job right if it's still leaking. Can't get mad at me for telling you the truth niccah.🤡 You did the fuxkin joh wrong dumbss boy.😆😂
@AmpereNA lol Mann plss. Don't get on my channel with that bullshit. I'm showing in my video how I did the job. You said you leaking oil and blamed it on the sealant.lol I told you it worked for me. Now that sound like you didn't didn't some shit right. Don't blame my video, hater.💀🤣🤡
The area where the tube seals sit on the valve cover where gouged out. I couldn’t attach a photo of it here. So, I texted the pull up king and he answered promptly letting me know that it needed to be replaced. Shout out to bro for the prompt response ✊🏽
