Great to watch done these in the eighties if I mind correctly we adjusted the injectors with a dial gauge and had to actuate the injector , see yours had a jake brake fitted
i do have same motor , one of injector is dead ,not firing , has water out of port 6 , head gasket or crack head ,lining rust out, thank for that injector timing mark.
Bad injector cup. Have to pull the head to repair. And the new cups will have to be rolled in properly. I have yet to do this but I was told it’s best to just exchange your head or heads for rebuilt ones. Be careful some rebuilt heads people exchanged for had bad injector cups already. Look closely before you leave with them or you’ll be doing everything twice and it’s out of your pocket
I got a question, i have a cummins nhc 250, 855 and it won't idle under 1300, at start up it will idle at 600 for 20 seconds, then jumps up to 1300rpms and stays thier. I adjusted idle at pt pump, I've turned down 3 times, and each time idle at 600 then jump up, adjusted again, idle at 500 then jump up on its own, adjusted again, idle at 500 and jump up to 1300 rpms, i can shut truck off, start up and idle at 600, then 20 seconds it jumps up to 1300 on its own and stay right thier. I'm not sure, it don't act like getting air, because don't stumble at all, everytime I start it, it starts right up, no hesitation.
What could be the reason for white smoke everytime I start the engine until exhaust temperature rises?. I mean if is kept real low but at full load no smoke?
