I've kind of had a really terrible week this week. But Vampire Counts are my favorite faction, and a 2.5 hour long video from one of my favorite RU-vidrs to go with it? Thanks Sparty, I really needed something like this. Keep up the great work, love what you do!
The thing with WH regarding vampires, but to an extent all of the factions and monsters, is that they do not borrow from one kind of vampire lore. We have the aristocratic infiltrators who can pass as human. We have those looking like nosferatu, ugly and twisted in form. We have those that are nearly completely bestial like the Strigoi and vargheists. Some are master manipulators; charismatic hypnotists, sensual seducers and seductresses. Some behave like wild, unholy, killing machines, and some devoted to sorcery. Then there's also the blood dragons who are based loosely around Vlad the impaler himself.
Thus vids are a life saver. Uncle Sam likes to send me on 4 hour drives three or four times a week for the Air Force, and damn these videos are PERFECT. My day flies by. Thank you, my most excellent dude, for your work.
@@joemiller361 my main problem with AoS is that nothing in it interests me. Feels like most of the new armies are too niche compared to my old dwarfs or vampire counts
I actually really enjoy AoS. I find the setting to be interesting and the cast of characters cool. I'm looking forward to the whole new Legion of Nagash coming out soon.
@@barubary218 I mean, I don't know. I like listening to AoS lore and how sigmar rediscovered the old world survivors and what not but I just can't pick a potential faction to play. I think it's because the old armies had more internal variety within each army, whereas now it feels like every unit is basically the same but they get bigger, or more edgy the higher up you go in tiers. Who knows what the future holds though.
I think my only problem with it is that you'd be in a pretty hellish start position if they had you start there the Strygos minor faction is, next to all the Tomb Kings and Settra in particular.
@@thatonepsycho5157 ye the start would have to change, but I would imagine it would be a hard campaign anyway considering even other vampires will hate you
I don't know if Coven Throne would be redundant, it would simply be a different support platform - focussing on debuff aura rather than heal/damage. I would love to see Abyssal Terror, Spirit Host and Coven Throne added to Counts so much!
I started playing CV in 4th edition. Best friend started out as Lizardmen. I remember how much I hated that his skinks did some nasty damage on my skeletons with their darts (poisonous), and I kept re-reading and grumbling over the rules that my "undead" units shouldnt be affected by poison. In the end, I came to realise it was kinda balanced if he could use the poison on my dead army, and I could always raise some new models with my magic. :D Mwa ha ha ha, bleh blehbleh *flies off in bat form* By the way, I still miss Walach Harkon and the Blood Keep for the Blood Dragons in Total War. What could be the reason Walach is not a Legendary Lord?
I have a unit of metal Blood Dragons ,original all metal black coach plus a metric fecal tonne of other units that thanks to this excellent breakdown will now see the light of day.Well a lick of paint in an case .I had just finished sacrificing some Tomb Kings cavalry and hollowed out some empire horses to create my own black knigts in lieu of the craptastic ones on offer .Bugger. Wouldnt it be great if there were a table top game based on total war Warhammer !? Replete with 40 years of backstory! Aged Smegma doesn't cut it for me ,I like my peasant hordes all in an easy to move row of movement trays.
The Abyssal Terrors I can see sharing a model skeleton with the Fimir (themselves derived from Kroxigors), but with added wings. They're both pretty dang dinosaurian, and have a beak and tusks like the Fimir.
This was wonderful to listen to while playing a zombie game,I hope if CA ever upgrade Vampire counts I hope they add a regiment of renown of Blood knights on foot as a special Body guard/ elite infantry killer.
This reminded me of my speculations on new DLC. I think we all know that the next DLC is most likely High Elves vs Greenskins and after that it's likely Skaven vs Dwarfs which only really leaves Vampire Counts vs Dark Elves. And I don't know how i feel about that since it's not very thematic. What would be cooler to see in my opinion would be Dark Elves vs Warriors of Chaos and Vampire Counts vs Tomb Kings. It would be pretty damn awesome to see that
I think the issue you run into with the Dwarfs is how Magic attacks work in TWWH, in that it makes 100% of the damage dealt magic damage, which all dwarf units have a 25% resistance to. so Dwarfs are heavily armored, and already only take a max of 75% of the damage dealt, so then you can really only factor in the armor piercing damage, and as I'm sure you've surmised, it ends up being virtually no damage that makes it through. I think perhaps a "Spectral Weapons" ability would be cool, which gives a 75% armor pen bonus to them, as opposed to a flat armor piercing value, they would be much stronger, and a bit more lore friendly.
It would be nice to have the other major heads of the blood lines in the game. (and the 2 other lost bloodlines as well, but fine if we dont). And a couple of new units perfect for each one. I.E: Blood Dragon blood knights, or Strigoi courtiers.
@@masterwesty Yes but not ALL blood knightsare blood dragons, all blood dragons are blood knights, as far as the lore goes the term Blood Knight is both the term for those vampires who like melee combat and are very war like. As well as those knights from blood keep. I think Turin talks about this in his bloodlines video. There is even a special r.o.r in lore and the end times that is a regament of Blood Knights but they are all von-carstines's. Hell even Depth guard could be call blood knights, and are von-carstiness. So why not a unit of Blood Dragons, it could be cav or infantry as far as I care just so long as they are agmonst the most elite melee blenders in the game, and not Depth guard levels of disappoint.
Something that's bugged with the Vampire characters since day 1 is: why are they all unbreakable? The undead minions are drones with no self preservation, but not the vampires and necromancers; they're utterly self-serving. It also makes it harder to differentiate the characters. Konrad or Abhorash would actually make SENSE to be unbreakable, and it would sell them as being great warriors.
57:16 i might be mistaking a unit but im pretty sure vampire counts can hire undead dragons into their armies unless im confusing them for terrorgiests or the guy that i see who does total war content has like closer to tabletop or steel of faith that add them or similar. Sorry if i am wrong btw.
Damn o was going to start playing with the models and wanted Vampire Counts. But no way, not if the bloodlines were removed. I can't stand things being dumbed down. How unfortunate.
Total War did a better job modernizing and maintaining Warhammer fantasy than GW did with AOS🙃 So many factions, armies, aesthetics, lore, time, money, hours painting, rules learned, books bought just obliterated Such is life😭
I think we should get abissal terrors in a W’soren dlc along with a unit of three necrarch’s that fire purple fireballs like an artilery piece they would be deviating and be Connected to the winds of magic not fire if your pool was below 7 but if it was above 25 they would be extremely powerful and they could increase your winds of magic
Anyone else think the ethereal rule needs to change in total war. My opinion they should be immune to ranged weapons unless magic or flaming & should be able to pass through castle walls. I don’t think this would make the OP as currently they are a pretty weak selection.
Presumably a more filled out version of Arkhan's mechanic, with maybe some Coast units mixed in since Cylostra gets approached by the Nameless in her ending (this, by the way, is why I'm strongly convinced that Sparty is wrong and we WILL get Drachenfels as a LL in game 3. It seems strangely specific to have him come, and they did something similar with Noctilus in 1) and Nagash talks to Luthor in his (and Luthor was a Mortarch in End Times). I'd guess that's why we haven't got Nefertata yet, despite a few references to her here and there. They're saving her for Undead Legion. Makes me wonder who the fourth Lord would be, though.
@@thatonepsycho5157 I doubt it. We already have most of the Motarchs in the game. However the one's missing are Dieter, Walach Harkon, and Neffie, which when added with Nagash makes 4 LLs. As I stated though I doubt undead legions is going to be a race pack. Also there's the concern of Krell because in Undead legions he is a LL.
@@mylesdrake2949 Walach turned out to be a worshiper of Khorne, remember? There's no way we aren't getting Undead Legions in some form. Other than the Nameless and Nagash appearing in Vampirate endings, Arkhan's ending has him prepare to summon Nagash back to the world. We're also going to the Darklands for game 3 which has Nagashizzar in it (they've already said they don't plan to do anymore race packs for 2)
@@thatonepsycho5157 He was still a motarch though despite turning to chaos gods eventually. Honestly, I imagine we'll get Neffie and Nagash. Neffie being a VC and Nagash as the Hybrid faction. As far as Dieter is concerned, that one I don't know we may or may not get him.
also, I think Spirit hosts would be a really cool improvement to Zombies, sort of like a Late Game Fodder Unit which is uncommon in Total War, apart from the Skaven, who eventually get to turn Clan rats into fodder. it would make playing the Vampire Counts a little more interesting, and make buff spells that much more useful against them in the late game as more of the army becomes Ethereal. as frankly Zombies are super useless after the early portion of mid game, given that most any unit just shreds through them, eventually leading to a line that is mostly more expensive units like grave guard. Just a thought, but I think it would be really cool.
By Grimnir's Beard! Zanguzaz!(Vampires) Well, say hello to the blades of my Ghullaz Az-Drengi leches! Khazukan Kazakit-ha!(“Look out, the dwarfs are on the warpath!”) Aristocracy of the Night...
Hahaha I didn't go about them as much.. They were actually very handy in TT And super cheap.. So you could field a lot more casters. Casting is also entirely different in TT, so multiple casters was often times a good thing
O Nagash no, necromancers are far from useless in the TT. they are cheap, can cast invocation, channel power, act as a back up lord should your vamp lord fall, and they even had a cheap lord variant so you could go full swarm build.
I pray to God that GW updates and releases new model's for vampires in AOS. Vampire Lord on zombie dragon with a unit of bloodknights as bodyguards with just endless units of skeletons and zombies with some varghulf courtiers on the flanks! SERIOUSLY why hasn't GW updated the vampire range?
I always play Isabella and rename one of the vampire girls Wednesday and the other Serana (from skyrim) I need Ulrika lord DLC, I need my thirsty albino russian waifu
