This was originally a seminar I ran for my patrons a long time ago and I decided to dust off the presentation and wing it to get some content out! It came out pretty well and I hope you'll enjoy it!
In this video I'll discuss how to use clans and their stereotypes effectively, how to structure your Storytelling and city creation like White Wolf did and how to identify if your SPCs are flat and uninteresting!
I hope it will be useful!
Thank you for watching!

I'm late to VtM. I was interested in toward the beginning but begin married with kids. And kids come first. But I finally have gotten into it again and your video are very helpful. So thank you for all your videos. I love them.

I started GMing Vampire when I was 15, and I needed roughly 10 years to figure the above shit out on my own. I could only wish I had access to your presentations back then. Definitely invaluable for new STs. Thanks for the work and passion you put in this series, can't wait for the next episode.

I am about to start my first V5 game and I am playing Steve Barnbrook "the Beast of the Toreador". He is a Detective in Homicide Kind of the Harvey Bullock, Columbo, and Dick Tracy. When a murderer was leaving there kills posed almost like art but will little or no blood left I was assigned the case. The Toreador though it was time for me to be embraced to figure out who the attribute is and then tossed away. But I was found to be to useful to throw away between weapons, cobbler, investigations, and supernatural insight. Also the Nosferatu finding it amusing that I mar the beauty of the Toreador gatherings not having the physical beauty of my Clansman. Also the curse manifested different making me inspired to write detective novels. I am one part enforcer, investigations, and clean up crew

I would also like to point out that these stereotypes also exist in setting. So in many ways when you play characters that break the mold you will find others with entrenched views about what a kindred of your clan is and will treat you as such. They might even try to force the stereotype upon you if they are sufficiently powerful and prejudiced enough.

Loved it! Thank you. I am starting up a new in-person chronicle (Potomac Empire by Night: the D.C./Baltimore area) using revised edition and set in the 1990s and this is all very helpful as a refresher. I ran a game that lasted for about 7 years, but put it away after it concluded for well over a decade. I now have friends who want to play and so I've been re-developing it for our session 1 of all-together play next week. I've already finished their individual preludes [Malkavian, Nosferatu and a Ventrue] and a game of "Ghoul: Fatal Addiction." I find that one individual game as mortals becoming ghouls and then a small group game (one to two players at a time) of ghouls becoming Kindred before the all together game of Kindred is really fun. While I actually like v5 from what I have read, I wanted to play revised because I know it backwards and forwards. Also, I like the time period of the early 1990s. It is right before camera phones and GPS really change the landscape for life and unlife in the masquerade and has that "the millennium is coming" doomsday clock vibe. I love your videos! They helped to inspire me to really get back in to VtM. I binged them all over the last two months.

The video is on the longer side, but darn, it's awesome. It's what I would call "the last video you'll ever need to learn about clans and cities". Please keep them coming!

46:00 Its not that the clans are played as stereotypes, think of it is as a program each clan innately implants into a newly made vampire, why do you think all Nosferatu are ugly or why all Malks are insane its because of that programming! Each clan vampire are the best representation of their 3rd generation progenitor! Whether its a physical or mental representation. They are literally made to behave the way they do! In my opinion only the thin bloods have ability to trully act to their own accord and actually have a choice to become a clan vampire or remain as a thin blood!

Tzimisce have the Carpathian branch, the Greek (or Byzantine) branch, a Polish branch even, as well as the American neonates, in the U.S. and in Mexico... The clan name's pronounciation should reflect a given vampire's origins and lineage imho.

In regards to what you’re saying about “cities are islands, roads are sea-lanes” for vampires, I understand to an extent. However, when you can go from one major city to another pretty quickly via car on the freeway at night (at least in California), is it really that relevant in a campaign? For example, Los Angeles to San Diego is only about a 2 hour drive late at night
@ThePrimogen
@ThePrimogen Год назад
Some islands can certainly be closer to each other too, meaning safer sea lanes, and cities closer to each other will have more collaborations and interactions. Still there are always risks of roaming Garou packs or Sabbat who will take the opportunity to hunt down traveling kindred

Stereotypes are not dangerous or harmful. They are useful, especially in a fiction. It’s just fiction and you shouldn’t shy away from stereotypes in fiction.

I cant stand toreador they are the least interesting of all vampire clans IMO, very egocentric, weird and arrogant. I think a certain Nosferatu described them best in VTMB!
@seikatsuragi7237
@seikatsuragi7237 Год назад
Maybe because too many people link them to art, where they can also fit perfectly with being linked to humanity in a broader concept. For example, I had a therapist Toreador who was semi-in love with the human mind, and how the Kindred mind was different/similar, and as a therapist, she was very empathic and easy to talk to, even helped other Kindred to understand their new nature better. Of course, many considered her to be "waaay to good to be actually good", which in some topics it was the case; but overall, the PC fitted the Clan's love for humans, social interactions, but wasn't neccesarily an arrogant weird artisté wannabe. The only knowledge she had of hard because her Sire kinda taught her in order to make her fit better with other peers.
