It's knowing that Ezra's obsession with aesthetic pastel coloured nostalgia drenched Academic Luxe vibes is always ironically, lightly held in his delicate hands, like a tennis pro holds his racket. That he can write songs both plaintive and sometimes wrenching yet still take the mick out of you just as you're developing theories. He'll take your polaroid camera, your off white blazer paired with colourful silk scarf, and vapid 70s cheerleader girlfriend off you with a gentle wink. He knows more than you do, because he doesn't sacrifice intelligence for cool. He doesn't HAVE to. He'll never have the propulsive sincerity of greater bands, and hes okay with this. They are not great. They are slick as fuck and they pack an occasional emotional punch when you least expect it. Then wipe their hands casually on their sweaters and walk away.
