in pure base level strength and damage lycans in full form have the advantage in their human form they are equal to a vampire in strength of course their training, physique and how fit they keep them selves also helps vampires how ever seem to have an advantage in agility and speed they also seem to be able to kind of glide when they jump so they have a mobility advantage again training, how phyiscally fit they were pre turn and how they maintain them selves post turn also play a factor we see that vampires go for weapons that are able to be used with agile and fast combat styles showing they know they have a disadvantage in pure strength and so they play on their speed and agility, we also know that immortals in general get stronger naturally with age when it is implied that alexander corvinus would have been able to take on his sons in a fight with relative ease.

​@@animeman8203i think the reason for that was that the lycans we're less in number than vampires making it harder for them to fight and also had little to no training (hence the ones that were with lucy in 1st movie had training enough to survive)

@@johndoe-pk6tj in Vampire lore, you must stab them through the heart and/or cut off the head completely in order to kill them. It also helps that he fell into murky water, so he was able to recover. Probably took a full day, since that was a brain stem shot, but it was by no means completely fatal. Victor was still a powerful vampire by this point.

While more recent movies have given him more ass kicking scenes than the original, he mostly shows up and either force chokes, or menaces someone. Kinda dull.

I've always enjoyed these movies. Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy were so good in these roles.

The one and only thing I think that could’ve improved that scene further was if Lucian howled for help instead of roared. Considering, y’know, wolves don’t roar LOL. But other than that one detail, I agree it’s a great scene. Greatest in the movie, in fact.

This was the first generation and their fighting techniques were geared towards mindless werewolves and chained slaves. By the Twentieth Century Selene and her Death Dealer peers displayed considerable martial arts prowess, with a large gym set aside for hand-to-hand combat training.

Compared to Humans, they are faster and stronger but in this world Werewolves are even stronger and almost as fast and a bit tougher in general, than vampires.

Sure a transformed lycan can kill a vampire with ease in hand to hand combat. But weapons gave vampires the upper hand as lycans were more vulnerable until uv bullets

Well it makes sense that the Lycans would be stronger in their werewolf forms. They're as strong as vampires in their human forms. The way I think they could balance it out is the trade off they get "stupider" relying on their strength more than their heads.

@@fredfry5100 but I believe what makes Marcus powerful is 1. he's and elder and 2. at the end of the last film, the blood of the lycan scientist which Viktor killed, woke him up by dripping into him. Not sure if it was mentioned in anything but I'm sure it made him more powerful, some kind of hybrid.

@@senor3187 Yes Marcus became a Hybrid and was the first of the 'Elders'. I'm not including his father, who was a Human immortal, potentially more powerful than any of the others.

Remember, Lucian fought Viktor in human form...in his lycan form he took him down easily and stole the key pendant.

It depends on the vampire. In the first movie Victor kills several with his bare hands.

An experienced vampire in armor and with a silver sword can easily fight hand-to-hand with werewolves. Werewolves are of course physically stronger, but silver cuts them like butter, and they also feel pain + they stop thinking normally in this form.

Vampires are also strong in Underworld franchise, the main problem is because this is one of the few stories of vampires where Warewolves are stronger... normally the vampires sell more money than warewolves, the concept over the vampire seems to be more attractive than the concept of the warewolfs in a general way... so, is normal that you see vampire at the top of the food chain in almost all books and series about this kind of creatures, because authors want money mostly and this is fiction so they can change the rule according to what they want... but in reality, according to the real mithology and the ancient stories about vampires and wolves, warewolves should be stronger than vampires... So, people now think that vampires are insanely strong or something like that, buy is kinda wrong thanks to the popularity and the recreation in the fiction of the vampires, mostly created on 19th century, bu the reality is that vampires are described in the Codex Gigas (Devil's Bible) as one of the weaker creatures in the burning hells, not enought strong to be called demons and just merely pets for other demons, so, because of this, they were exiled from hells and then move to the earth where they start to living from human or animal blood but even then, is mentioned that they have problems with stronge humans and savage creatures so they just tend to chose females of the species...

The normal vampires are like pampered aristocrats in the Underworld universe, they don't really know how to fight. The ''Death Dealers'', who are the Vampire warrior caste are indeed super strong/ fast and hard to kill, not to mention trained to fight with all types of weapons, like Selene in the first movie or the guys with the black helmets here. They can kill a Lycan with one clean sword strike, a normal human wouldn't be able to do that. They also have centuries of fighting experience. The Eldar Vampires, like Viktor are on another level though. Viktor could easily kill several Lycans with his bare hands and even defeat Michael Corvin in his Vampire/Lycan hybrid form. And then, there's Marcus the OG Vampire who can curb stomp about anybody. Selene only defeated him, after she drank the blood of Alexander Corvinus, the first immortal and gained his powers.

That's why I'm still praying 🙏 3 times a day for an Underworld 6 with Scott Speedman and Kate Beckinsale back as Michael Corvin and Selene. Giving their characters the happy ending they deserve. Like being a family with their daughter Eve Corvin. Them getting married and maybe just maybe. Selene having another baby. This time a boy. Giving Eve a little brother and the family she's always wanted. Lucian and Marius are dead. Just like Amelia, Victor and Marcus are. Now Selene, David and Lena are the new leaders of the Vampires. If the Vampires get new leaders. Why can't the Lycans have a permanent new leader? So why not let Michael replace Lucian and Marius? Michael was the last person bitten by Lucian. The original leader. Michael is the Grand nephew of William Corvinus. The father of all Werewolves and Lycans. Not to mention Corvin killed him. So Michael Corvin legally is the rightful leader of the Lycans. With Michael and Selene being the leaders of the Lycans and Vampires. Combined with them being married. Also having a daughter together and maybe another child. Then the wish of Lucian and Sonja will finally come true.

It depends on the vampire, their training, the various blood they drink, etc. In this series when a vampire drinks another vampires blood they get the memories, techniques and strength of said vampire. The main protagonist of the rest of the series, Selene, becomes something like a vampire god by the end. In this series, werewolves are much stronger than most of the vampires, but most of the vampires don’t train for combat. Most of them are just an aristocracy.
