Always love hearing Haku stories. His induction into the WWE hall of fame is long overdue but when that day comes I would love to hear his introduction into it.
@@joesshows6793 On the tiny island where he grew up they learn to climb coconut trees from the time they were children. Try to imagine a man around 300 lb climbing a coconut tree.
Hannibal, thanks for all the great interviews with wrestlers about Haku. Please see if you can get Jerry Only from the Misfits on your show. He had a great story on Haku facing the Japanese Karate champion in an MMA fight.
@@williamching1675 according to Jerry Only, Haku was asked to face the karate champion of Japan because some people didn't believe that pro-wrestlers could actually fight trained martial artists. Haku broke the skull of the Karate champion with one blow and the fight ended right there.
2:10 much respect for the Samoan brothers and sisters but Haku is not Samoan. He is Tongan and that's a neighbor island to Samoa. That's why they called him King Tonga.
The Canek locker room incident might have happened after the match where he made a futile attempt to shoot on Haku and it had absolutely no effect. Canek must have been wild after his failed attempt to hurt Haku in the ring and apparently the other wrestlers laughed at Canek for being stupid enough to even try that on Haku.
Haku's name is actually derived from two separate utterances. The first syllable "Ha" refers to the disbelief and laughter of someone who opposes him with bad intent or alternatively the moment he discovers your hiding place and the syllable "ku" is derived from the word "goo", which refers to the sticky substance that's left of a bad guy's bones after Haku is done with him.
Or maybe at the time of his birth and when asked what name he be given, the person who answered was toothless and sneezed….. “Haaaa-kooo!” (Instead of ….”Haaaa-choo!” )
The Koji Kitao/Haku match is good on why you shouldn't piss Haku off. Koji was notorious for being a prick in the ring and starts trying to goad and shoot on him, Haku gets real for a few seconds starts laying the chops on him and then full on dropkicks him in the face. although he loses the match, Haku also deals him a vicious receipt also when he refused to take a piledriver
Didn't know Canek and Haku escalated into the locker room, Canek and Mascaras always fancied themselves as tough guys. To be fair though Meltzer has mentioned some stories of Mascaras holding it down when he had too.
Haku is Tonga, not Samoan, Samoan are usually bigger, tongas are usually the better fighters. One of my senior kung fu brother told me that back when he lived in Hawaii had two twing tongas friends that would kick anyone's ass. In fact the they were bouncers at a night club. He told me that the were really nice people as long you did not made them mad.
Hannibal I wanted to just quickly support you. The ref situation, as I understand it, maybe the promotion were to blame, but mistakes happen. Nobody with half a brain believes you tried to hurt the guy, or that you're not a safe worker. You don't suffer fool's, you're a legit tough guy, and let Leaping Kenny or whoever else mouth off about you, people who respect you know you're not dangerous to work with, there will always be those who like to try damage someone's career by this ridiculous cancel culture, and I know you came under fire from those morons, and I'm glad you ignored them. Keep on keeping on, AJB
You can get temporary dementia and psychosis from substance abuse which would make you say stuff that you believe is true but might not actually be true. I have gotten this from alcoholism.
I've seen these professional Islanders in MMA get their butts kicked by trained fighters in other races, an experienced heavyweight samoan kickboxer got knocked out by a 180lbs black kickboxer , don't believe the hype about these guys
