exactly. it should be van basten vs say rummenigae if u talking mid 80s.....actually a better head to head might be van basten vs romario.......klinsmann is more comparable to dudes like inzaghi owen and those type of guys
I agree, Klinsmann was very lucky in the German team which is always consistent in the big tournament. Meanwhile, after Euro 88, The Netherlands had never reach the same level, as we can see in 1990 world cup which Netherland qualifying from the group stage without a single win (3 point from 3 match in draw)
Klinsmann is one of my favourite players and he is one of the best centre forwards of the last 30 years no doubt, but Van Basten for me is the most complete centre forward to ever play the game. The best of all time in that position.
@@yabe84 😂😂😂 Are you blind or just stupid? What Kilnsmann could could do with a ball, Marco could do with a grape. Watch the video even Lineker says Marco was the total package as a number nine. Kids grow up wanting to be like Van Basten, nobody wants to be Klinsmann ffs
What a magical, magnificent, marvellous, majestic player Juergen Klinsmann was! His prowess, power, courage, vivacity, mental toughness, vulture of vultures in the air, bicyclic kicks and volleys, flying into the penalty box, massive power of head could easily and fabulously net the football into the net were spectacular and spellbound the spectators. Marco Van Basten was a true stricker at first rate basis.
Van basten is no doubt the most complete striker in the history of the game, 3 times balon dor winner just at the tender age of 27.....please.........we may have missed his actual prime...........
`Sorry for me Van Basten is way out in front...He should be mentioned when talking about the greatest players...Klinsman was very good but is not in that league...for me...
There are only a handful of strikers in the history of football better than Van Basten. If it wasn't for injuries he may have gone down as the best ever. Klinsmann was great but one level below at least.
As usual, the negative talking down of German players. Klinsmann won literally everything. Some of his goals were incredible... bicycle kicks, volleys, free kicks, penalties...just watch his goals. ALWAYS giving it all and even at small clubs with not as great teams he always made the important goals. Both are phenomenal, Klinsmann's UEFA Cup performance under Rehagel was incredible. Van Basten was phenomenal, behind Ronaldo (the Brazil edition) and infront of Romario the second best of all time. Still, Klinsmann at Stuttgart, Inter Milan, FC Bayern and Tottenham Hotspur...always making his goals no matter where he played.
I think Klinsmann is being vastly disrespected here. He was a goal machine. It’s unfair to compare these two. The set piece one should have been Klinsmann. He was always on the end of a free kick or corner with a bullet header, volley or overhead kick. I think they have short memories.
Klinsmann won the Euro and the World Cup. Played in various leagues and always performed. Van Basten on the other hand was a massive disappointment at the 1990 World Cup and 1992 Euro. He seemed to only play well when things were going right.
EXACTLY! Only a few know. These Van Basten dick riding trglodites are a complete intellectual sewage. Club wise Van Basten was better. National competitions wise Klinsmann BY A MILE! Not even close. On those super AC Milan teams KLinsmann would score 30 a season. Klinsmann top 10 striker EVER.
No, no, no. this shouldn't be a question at all. That's beyond any doubt. Of course vBasten is the best of these two. It's just blasfemie. Like comparing Michael Jordan with Clyde Drexler.
Van Basten may have been the Swan of Utrecht but Klinnmann was the master swan diver. There has never been any more graceful at going down from an imaginary foul.
How is it a stupid question? Van Basten literally choked at the 1990 World Cup and the 1992 Euro. Sure, he was the more elegant and skillful striker. But Klinsmann always scored his goals in every league he played in. Won the 1990 World Cup and 1996 Euro in addition.
Mate no offense something must be wrong with you to compare van basten and klinsman, klisman had the shot but van basten had every thing dribbling , technique, everything bro speed all.
ahahaha what a clueless dumb bro. KLinsmann had "shot" ? Klinsmann was a 10 times the athlete and WAY faster than Van Basten. Van basten is better but you are clueless. Van basten had "shot".
Remember Germany-Holland 1990, and think again. And Van Basten - who never scored a goal during a world championship! - committed a lot of faults. P.S He was very good in the team of the mafia chief...
@@filippolombardi4436 agree,I think most people have never watched a Basten game. They were just misled by the edited video. van basten‘s highlight was 1988 and 1992,but klinsmann high level throughout career,I think Basten is overrated
@@winel3738 overrated??? Wtf 3 ballon d'or how can u say he is overrated??? How many ballon dor klinsman has?, if he didn't get that injure he would be the best striker ever 🔥. Ive never seen both but mu father told me that van basten is the best striker only behind R9
@@bushmastersavimbi3379 dogshit winning 1988, and scoring 5 goals... he was the biggest star at Milan and he was a star at Ajax. San Marco who is one of the best ever.
Wait...how the heck did they give the Goals category to Klinsmann?? As others have mentioned, why are these two being compared, it isn't even fair to Klinsmann, with all due respect to him. Let's put this in perspective, Van Basten, although playing nearly half the games that Klinsmann did, scored almost the same exact number of goals Klinsmann did. Think about that for a minute. In all competitions btw, with their national scoring rates being about the same, Klinsmann being better there by a bit. So...how???
@@bushmastersavimbi3379 Winning a Euro with Netherlands while being the top scorer AND the player of the tournament would contradict your claim. And Klinsmann's Germany was one of the best of all time too. Van Basten was also World Class when he was in Ajax too, so your entire comment there was essentially BS
van basten was a better scorer than klinsmann. marco scored way more goals, was serie top scorer quite a bit. set pieces, arco scored freekicks, jurgen didnt. marco was also good in the air , but jurgen might have been a better header of the ball
@@Jose-sy1je Van Basten got in the team of the tournament for Euro 92 despite not scoring (although we all know the diving header Van Basten scored in the group stage vs CIS was miles onside) so that shows that his overall performance was superb. How about not using stats to try force your agenda and actually watch the games before commenting.
@@Bill-Butcher Team of the tournament is subjective. He was on a team with players like Gullit, Rijkaard, Bergkamp, etc and couldn't score. Not even in the semi when they needed it most vs Denmark. The Netherlands had a good coach and played well as a team. Germany on the other hand had a terrible coach and luckily stumbled into that final. But Klinsmann still scored. And it's not just about scoring, but the chances he created for himself against tough defenders. If it hadn't been for two amazing saves by Schmeichel in the final he would have scored as well. Van Basten was more elegant, had a better technique. But I would take Klinsmann in terms of will and scoring.
@@Jose-sy1je Listen, Klinsmann is one of my favourite players ever, he's massively underrated these days, he's a complete striker and gave 100% every game, there's obviously a couple of qualities he has over Van Basten, but overall you cannot seriously put Klinsmann over Van Basten. They are probably my two favourite strikers of all time so definitely no bias here from me, but Marco is the greatest to ever do it in his position IMO. There isn't a centre forward in history I'd choose over Van Basten, but I've made up quite a few dream teams with both Van Basten and Klinsmann as the two strikers. It's a shame they didn't get a chance to play together on the same team at some point as both have always worked well with partners of different styles. Two of the most complete strikers to ever play the game. Legends.
How is this a question??? Van Basten is the best nr 9 ever in historie. I never seen a player who was so complete as him. For example a lewandowski or a Benzema are smal boys in comparing to him and that 2 are worldclass today.
I think most people have never watched a Basten game. They were just misled by the edited video. sure Van Basten’s outstanding performance did shock the world, but just in short time, his performance in most competitions was moderate, but Klinsmann has always maintained a high level. Van Basten has only played in Italian and Dutch leagues, but klinsmannn has played in many leagues, including Germany, Italy, France, and England all succeeded. I don’t think van Basten can succeed in England.
Say all you want, but van Basten only showed up at the 1989 Euro. He absolutely disappointed at the 1990 World Cup and was disappointing at the '92 Euro as well. Klinsmann on the other hand was consistent in big tournaments.
Van Basten was such a disappointment at the 1990 World Cup and didn't do much at the 1992 Euro either. I don't remember Klinsmann ever not performing at a major tournament.
I'm French, the golden ball is an old French institution but it's been crap for a long time It does not represent the best footballers but the most eye-catching and those that we already have a look at them
@@yabe84 So it was crap back around 1990 also? And Klinsmann is better than Van Basten in your opinion? Even when people were more looking at Gullit and Maradona at that time but Van Basten won it?
Where was van Basten at the 1990 World Cup or 1992 Euro? He didn't even score a single goal in both tournaments. Klinsmann always scored his goals. In every league, every team and every competition.
@@Jose-sy1jestop embarrassing yourself. Van bastens achievements far outweigh klinsmanns, in a far shorter career due to injury, anyone who understands football would understand this. Multiple ballon dors, European cups, seria titles, klinsman done of that. I am right and you are wrong, deal with it
@@gb1967. You didn't answer the question. Where was he in those tournaments? Even in the European Cup in 1990 he did nothing in the semi and nothing in the final. Just his usual penalty. Rijkaard scored the decisive goal against Bayern in the semi. Rijkaard then scored the decisive goal in the final as well. Even in 1989 Van Basten scored no goals vs Werder Bremen. Just his usual penalty that counts in the goal stats. And that was in his absolute prime, which only lasted 2-3 years anyway
@@Jose-sy1jeffs give it a rest. I dont need to answer your dumbass question. Van basten is a differebt level. Kilinsman was a brilliant player van basten is 1 of the all time greats. Im done conversing with you on this. Again i am right and are wrong,- fucking deal with it
