This is a practical review of the Jackery Explorer 300 for those who might be interested in adding the Jackery Explorer 300 to their van Conversion or overland build. The Jackery Explorer 300 would be a great addition for people living the Van Life or Overlanding.

Nice useful little unit in a more accessible budget-friendly package and a nice evolution of features. I've been absolutely thrilled with my Jackery, it's been a game-changer on overland trips. I never leave home without it!

Perfect review. You’re always honest on the pluses and minuses, and that’s what we need. I like jackery because of you and others, but I’m a Goal Zero guy. I think the items I have will work with both and that’s a plus. Cheers. Skillet

Just purchased the 300 on Amazon Prime Day for a little over $200; which was a bargain! Will be using it primarily to charge my phone, a small fan and a lamp in the event of a blackout. Next year I may invest in a model with much more capacity in order to power a fridge and keep a laptop going.

Been fulltime for 4 years and finally decided to get the 500 Jackery through Jason's link on his website because I still found my on board 400 watts of solar & 200 amps/100 amps useable wasn't enough during the long winter months and short days at that time especially when there are several days of cloudy, rainy weather. I wanted extra power to mostly help run my laptop at night during those short winter nights. I wish I could have gone with the 1,000 watt but with my spinal disabilities the 22 lbs is to much so the 500 watt at 13 lbs is right at my limit. I figured later I could just buy another 500 watt if I needed more power but now I am really excited about the 300 watt at 7 lbs and a faster charging time so will probably be my second one. Another plus is in the summer when it is hot by having a portable power station will allow me to park in the shade more throughout a day and not be in full sun for my solar needs, a lesson I learned this past summer. I just bought the portable solar panel too. Most generators take up to much space for me and they are to heavy so these are great for people with weight restrictions to lift and move around. I am very excited to get my Jackery by Thurs. I hope this helped to see the need of a Jackery from another perspective. 😄🚐🤗👍

We are on the hunt to find out what battery solution could run a portable Air Conditioner all night. Being in Texas, sleeping at night can be pretty warm and humid. An AC in a tent during the day is useless, but after the sun goes down the AC works great to cool down and dry out the tent for sleeping. But we always have to find a campground with power in order for that to work. Would love to setup a combo of a battery solution that could run a portable AC for 8 to 10 hours. That would free us up to hit a lot more campgrounds or possibly some open land. I do like your smoker running off the Jackery, and trimming Daisy while hooked up, that was clever.

I bought the Jackery 240 several months ago but either did not know about the Jackery 300 or it wasn't on the market at that time. Amazon was my source. I'm very pleased with the 240 unit so far as it powers up my Alpicool C20 refrigerator easily overnight and along with my Luminoodle lights and a personal fan. Should I get to the point where I'm able to stay out longer I will most likely pick up the 1000 model. I agree that the shape due to the handle is often inconvenient and have considered going to a different model (Goal Zero) that is more "square" and fits well. Ironically, you mentioned CPAP. I store my 240 in an old CPAP bag when I used one while working as a CDL-A driver. All of my Anker bricks, cords, AAA's, AA's and C-cell batteries are stored in the bag along with the 240. The CPAP machine helped me acquire better sleep at night. Good to see you're out and safe, Jason.

If you have say a 100 watt folding solar panel like I do, and providing there is sun, you can run a car fridge almost forever with a jackery 300 size power station. I have run my iceco outdoors in 90 degrees for 4 days recharging only with the 100 watt folding panel.
@insaynbcr
@insaynbcr 3 года назад
Jason, do you feel that a single 100w solar panel + Jackery 1000 would be enough to run just your fridge indefinetely in our Oregon conditions? Granted we have more sun available on the east/south east side of the state than say the valley, ranges or coastal areas. Or, would two 100w panels be a better choice? My rig is pretty simple as far as power needs, as I just need to power my 37qrt ARB fridge. (You probably remember my white Tacoma at Ewards Alvord trip this summer with the aluminum rack that I built over the bed).

The 240 runs my cpap for three straight nights (8 hours of sleep) on one charge. I do not use the humidifier, so if you do you'll probably get less than 3 days. My next upgrade will be to the 1500 or 2000. I'd like to be able to use the microwave in my camper while boondocking.

Nice review. Something else to add to the list. I’m getting ready to get the 1,000 and am just trying to figure out my solar setup. The 300 would be nice for moving around and would let me keep the 1,000 running the fridge only (was looking at the 500 also)
@PrimalOutdoors
@PrimalOutdoors 3 года назад
My challenge with the current 500 is that it has the slower charge controller, and lacks the usb c and quick charge port, I really think you would be happier with the 300 since the faster charging would make up for the lack of amp hours

@hmr171
@hmr171 3 года назад
A 1000 is way overkill for a CPAP. The key with CPAP is not to use the AC adapter that probably came with it. The CPAP is 12V DC anyway and you can purchase a cigarette port cable that will directly power the CPAP. It is not efficient for a Jackery to convert 12V DC up to 120V AC and then back to 12V DC. I use a 150W unit for my CPAP and can get a couple of days use of it.

Howdy. I don't know if I should ask this here, but I will... I know nothing about power conversions, terminology, etc. I want to learn for ex. Amp hours, what/how/ when to use an inverter, how to understand wattage, etc. Where should I begin?? I purchased this 300 model and would like to get the best use out of it and purchase solar panels in the future, however it's all like a foreign language to me. Please give me a video or reliable source to learn the basics and beyond possibly. Thanks for your help and time. Tamara

Good "practical" review video Jason, first time I've heard that qualifier lol ....tell Jackery though to build a "Jackery 2000" unit with a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter built in, ditch the non-folding handle and then I will be interested! You see once you get over 1500 watts of power available it opens up a whole slew of cool kitchen gadgets you'd be able to use with it. Such as what I'm doing with my off-road trailer and a 1750 watt inverter which you can see in a video on my channel BirdPhish, it's titled "Expedition by Off-Grid Trailers 2.0 goes to "The Playa" - Black Rock Desert". I will give away that I did not cook and eat the HUGE Great Black Hornet that visits our camp in the video.....you'll have to go watch the video to see what happens....
